I've got a pecan pie baking in the over for Pie Day. While the filling came with bourbon in it, I poured some of my Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut liqueur into it. I hope this is good.

Originally posted by Elara The hype is to be believed. Their burgers are definitely hand-formed and are super tender and tasty. We tried the one in Hollywood while we were in the area for something. There's also one in Glendale. Just looked it up and there's only four out here, all up in L.A. gravitating toward the westside (West Hollywood, Santa Monica are the other locations.) |

I finally bought a portable air conditioner. It's perhaps the greatest purchase I ever made.
I'm tired of coming home to a hot stuffy room and no air flow. What's more we just got new windows and these let in less air that the originals. Getting an A/C unit was inevitable. |

Hah, that's interesting.
I think I used to have board dreams back in the day. We're talking 2004. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-20-17 12:28 AM) |

Go you, Xeo! Hope they don't hinder you too badly.
I'm broke, but we're at least a little productive. Cats have on their flea medicine, anniversary trip plane tickets purchased, rental car booked, air conditioner bought and installed, and we finally got the ratty old chair out of the room and onto the curb. We've got such a moth problem in our room, though. Bought containers and cedar to keep the things I definitely want to keep them from eating (scarves, gloves, dresses, etc.) Eventually I need to clean out the closet and get some cedar liners. |

I still need to see it, especially since it concerns X-23. It's already been spoiled for me, anyway.
Since I was in a yeah-I'm-not-leaving-my-room-today sort of mood on Saturday, I just watched movies on Netflix. Finally watched "Sunset Boulevard" and "How To Steal A Million" all the way through, then discovered "Operator," which stars one of the guys from "Silicon Valley" and the girl who voiced Katara on "Avatar: The Last Airbender." It was cute. |

We got sucked up into "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," which is actually a pretty progressive show in many regards. There's only two seasons, and amusingly, it was Brandon who kept going, "Wanna watch more 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'?" Looking forward to the third season.
We started "Marco Polo" and "Frontier" at the same time. I think we'll probably continue with "Frontier" before getting to the second episode of "Marco Polo." Actually, come to think of it, we didn't even finish that first episode of "Marco Polo." A little under four months 'til "Game of Thrones" returns. |

WonderCon was this weekend. It was fun, but it's turning into a collection of the worst aspects of Comic-Con on a smaller scale and less pay-off. I got into the arena to watch the "Wonder Woman" exclusive clips, but wasn't able to get into anything else -- not that I wanted to see much else; I just wanted to sit down. No other panels were particularly interesting, but there were absurd lines for EVERYTHING.
Stepped away from the con on Sunday morning to bring in the check for our deposit for our wedding venue. Apparently three other couples wanted our date, so we were making sure to lock it in. On the opposite side of the wedding planning, I had a rather awkward and negative experience with the people we were planning on making our wedding clothes. They had a booth at WonderCon and when I went to talk to the same guy I spoke with at Gallifrey, he acted rather shitty toward me as I was asking about customizations to the items they already have. I've decided that I won't be talking with him and that Bran will just be the one to go through in the future. It was one of those rare times, in these days, that I didn't have Bran with me (he was working), so I approached alone. After the interaction, my social anxiety kicked in and I felt like I was going to cry. |

Freaking Photobucket and Tumblr, man.
Funny that more "mainstream" outlets are taking interest in these gifs. |

Heading out of town next week for the ol' anniversary. Flying up to Washington on Monday and flying back Wednesday. It's just not going to be long enough, I can tell.

Even though there's SO MUCH going on this weekend (L.A.Times Festival of Books, War Mart sale, etc), I don't really feel like leaving my air-conditioned room, especially in this heat. Good lord, I've gotten old.

Never heard of it. Don't think I've ever seen it any of the times I'm in Arizona.
Here, in Southern California, seems like more people are interested in getting the latest food craze down from Portland or convincing another ramen shop from Japan to open a branch of their restaurant in Greater Los Angeles. Another craze are the viral marketing campaigns for shows and movies. Example: we had a "Bob's Burgers" pop-up restaurant for the better part of a week so people could eat some of the crazy board specials from the show. I didn't hear ANYTHING good about it. Another recent example was how the jazz club from "La La Land," would be coming to life for one night in Long Beach. Then, of course, there's the fact that Chinatown has turned into hipster food mecca with all these Cajun and spicy Nashville chicken places cropping up, particularly in the Wing Hop strip mall. |

The majority of today's paycheck is paying off my credit card. Hopefully the next check in a couple weeks will in some part go to savings.

I did write quite a few more, but ended up removing them, even bumping several from favorites down to the second list. I've honed it a bit. But there's also these... I've sort of been sucked into playing the "Rick & Morty" phone game "Pocket Mortys."
Pokemon, but with all the different Mortys from the infinite universes fighting each other. Addictive and a much better game than "Fallout Shelter," my phone game obsession before "Fallout 4" finally came out. |

Hackers leaked the first 10 episodes of "Orange Is The New Black" season 5 online, so I'm watching it. Mostly to avoid the inevitable spoilers that I know are going to be coming. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-01-17 06:02 PM) |

I would love some rain. Problem is, it would probably only rain for five minutes and then get super hot again, but with the added bonus of being HUMID.
It was so terribly hot and dusty at faire yesterday. Got dehydrated. (Last edited by Rogue on 07-09-17 09:49 AM) |

Saw "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" last night. It had its moments, but overall I didn't like it very much.
I'm pretty well done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Looking forward to "Wonder Woman." Anyway, this video regarding the lack of memorable music in the MCU has encapsulated some of my feelings on these movies. They're just pumping them out without as much effort as other fandoms.
