I guess it depends on your definition of poster. I had a medieval brass rubbing I did in 7th grade, mounted with a string on one wall, and a print of a painting someone did of Frida Kahlo getting raped by a skeleton on another wall, hung up with pins over my bed.

Oh and a gun range target of a zombie that I shot up. That's taped over Brandon's desk.

Do you "get" music these days?

Oh yeah, that is good stuff. I was using Califia's coconut-flavored almond milk with cereal, but it had a kind of weird taste for me.

I ate Carl's Jr. for dinner. Yeah, nothing earth shattering, though I really need to cut down on the fast food.

I took lessons for violin and piano, but never went past being able to play a few songs on either.

Kind of in a weird place, mentally.

The bowling alley where I take my clients twice a week was just shot up.

Lately been watching "Schitt's Creek" on Netflix, but the romances with the kids has been a huge turn off. I just don't ship characters most of the time these days (obviously, I do ship, if you know me. BUUUUT yeah, I'd prefer characters just remain friends most of the time rather than have a forced, no chemistry get-together on screen. )

Let's talk about "Baby Shark."

I actually don't mind it. I find myself singing along since it's become such an internet meme.

But it's just found its way into so many things, so it's the new overplayed song. The funny thing is it's from 2016, but it feels like it only took off this past year.

I like milk chocolate, but most have just gotten too sugary these days. I know there's a world cocoa shortage, but it's really turned into basic chocolate just tasting like vanilla and sugar.

I know red velvet is supposed to be chocolate. When you get real red velvet, it actually does taste like it not Playdoh or vanilla with red dye. Still, I haven't eaten red chocolate. I should track it down.

The buttermilk bars from Primo's.

The best donut I ever had was the chocolate malted chip that Sidecar Doughnuts did as a collaboration with Salt & Straw. That is probably the most hipster thing I've ever said. Anyway, it was like a soft chocolate chip cookie with a crunchy outside.

Otherwise, the fresher from the fryer the better. I prefer cake donuts to yeasty ones.

That fucking Lady Gaga song from "A Star Is Born." I haven't even seen the movie and for some reason it's been playing A LOT while I'm at work these days.

Trump owned that this was all on him. Honestly, he's holding a gun to his head and telling us to give him this bullshit wall or he'll pull the trigger. Fine. The longer this goes, the worse he looks.

As for this wall, the Border Patrol has already stated that it's NOT going to help them for the most part. It's useful in the cities along the border, where their response time is minutes. But out in the deserts, middle of nowhere? Their response time is calculated in hours, even days. By that point, people could have punched a hole through the damn thing. Tunnels and boats are ALREADY a thing too. Still, people have pointed out that scaling this thing is still never really going to be an issue.

Border Patrol and other authorities have said that what they actually REALLY NEED is better tech. Their phones, radios, etc often don't work down there. There's no cell towers or repeaters, it's almost all dead zones along the border, and they have trouble communicating with each other when there ARE issues.

So yes, if the money actually went to hooking them up with better radios and so on and NOT a wall, good!

Anyway, when the House voted on whether or not to give backpay to the government workers not receiving paychecks there was still seven Republicans who voted no.

Looking for articles, I'm like, "Christ, it made the Washington Post?"

Unfortunately three people were killed, four wounded. It happened at night, so the clients and I weren't there. We were there earlier in the day, however. I was really scared this one employee there was one of the three. He's so sweet to the clients, and treats them like people (I know, what a concept.) I went by there when they were having a candlelight vigil (I thought they might be open so I could go visit the employees), but left when people were asking me if I knew the men killed and sort of side-eyed me like I was just there to gawk.

What really pissed me off was how some people reacted to the news, saying things like, "Well, it gets really dark there, if you know what I mean." This was seriously uttered by one of my coworkers.

When a person on Yelp made the comment going, "It was 'Planet of the Apes' night at the Bowl. What do you expect?" I kept flagging it, and it took a week for Yelp to finally take the comment down. Ridiculous. People are DEAD. Three men, all fathers with families who love them.

At least not until December.

I work with some real pieces of shit.

Went in to talk to my boss about scheduling my CPR certification renewal, calendar in hand and everything, and while standing there talking with him, another co-worker burst in and started some bullshit small talk about how we need to put one of our clients on marijuana because his new meds are stupid. Then she just stood there. I kept staring at my boss, calendar open. No goddamn respect.

Another co-worker left a client, sitting in the cold, and then just honked the van's horn at him when he shouted in an outburst. Other clients are treated like they're just misbehaving animals.

Practically EVERYONE is on their phones the whole goddamn day, despite the fact that we've all had to sign some "contract" promising we won't look at them or else it'll distract from supervising the clients. I'll even get sent out with people who just stare at their phone and then have a passive conversation with someone.

I fucking hate this place.

A client threw a fit and called me a "fatass" in Spanish today in front of several of the co-workers who hate me. Normally I'd let insults slide and I even acted like it wasn't a big deal (it caught her off guard when I told her that I can understand what she said), but of course the other co-workers were all, "Wait, what did she say?" and then repeating it back to each other.

Our case manager has left and gone onto another position, so several of these jackasses have applied for his job. A couple of them, very obviously at the beckoning of another co-worker who just wants them there as her puppet. Several other co-workers have since voiced to me that if so-and-so gets the job, they are straight-up quitting.

I mean, in the grand scheme of the universe, I'm just a speck of dust concerned with how other specks of dust conduct themselves. None of this is going to fucking matter in the end.

I'm slowly transitioning out of this place. It's too slow, frankly.

Got a new job. It's a part-time, second job, but I'm way more enthused about it than the current full time position of which I've held for four years now. Plus, helps bang out my credit card debt.

Since I'm currently only scheduled for weekends at new job until I work out how to get from one job to the other in a reasonable amount of time, I don't expect to have any weekends for a while. It's fine.

Hah!

Brandon and I were in a fan-made trailer for "Alita." The guy who shot it heard there was talk of a movie (again) and really wanted to make his own film, thinking it might fall through again. Even though the guy has a wide array of professional credits in TV and film, this was his little passion project and ... it definitely looked fan-made.

I just remembered the third "John Wick" movie is coming. Yup, looking forward to that.

I've got Canadian friends staying at my house right now, and yeah, they're pretty nervous about flying out of here when the government shuts down again after the 15th.

It's been really cold here. I know we're all going, "Well, yeah, it is Winter!" but I swear it's colder than usual. Then again, here I am complaining about walking around in 40 degree mornings whilst the middle of the country is literally frozen.

On another note, I took my clients on an all-day trip to the L.A. County Natural History Museum and my co-worker threw a fit saying it was too cold to eat outside and took some of the clients and sat in the stuffy cafe. It was 67 degrees out.
