Man, I remember watching that show when I was younger being totally in love with it. Well that and the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons since those were on in the same era. 
I had a VHS of the Mario BMX race episode. I totally don't remember most of it, but I was completely in love. |

| Anyone ever play Legend of the 5 Rings, the cardgame?
A few friends and I go larping (live action role playing) for the game and it's pretty cool. It's not all fighting (matter of fact, that's one of the smallest factors). It's more of a political game of subterfuge and etiquette. The setting is in the governor's court. Rokugan, our country, is a mixture of Japanese and Chinese culture. We are all members of various clans are trying to take control of the land as our emperor lays dying. To seek control we all interact with the various clans in certain ways, spread rumors (believe you me, little rumors have started many a bloodbath), hold votes, and if all else fails.. duel. There are MANY intricate parts of the game and my explanation isn't really doing it justice. Here's a video this guy put together from pictures of the game cards to convince his friends to play: Here's another video which pretty much says the same thing, but is pretty cool: The last time I played this, I was in lion clan. Lions are notorious for acting uppity and high. They make up much of the upper crust of Rokugan and always try to do what is just and honorable, though they do like to stick it to you. I'd like to try playing unicorn (masterless adventurers) or mantis (pirates who smuggled and fought tooth and nail to get to the status they are, rather than come into wealth like the other clans. They don't take crap from anyone and most everyone admires them). Zoso plays a warrior and I play a courtier. It's funny staying in character. A few times he's had to stand guard outside of the bathroom while I was in there. |
