Whoa. There's a lot of miscommunication in this thread.
Let's just straighten this out since it seems there's very little reading what was said above: Katsuhiro Otomo directed Steamboy and Akira. (Saw Steamboy before it was supposed to come out... there was an ungodly amount of hype connecting the two movies together when one has NOTHING to do with the other.) Hayao Miyazaki did My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, "Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, the Cat Returns, Porco Rosso, Nausicaa, and Laputa among many other things including episodes of Lupin III." OK? Anyway, on topic, My Neighbor Totoro is cute and a landmark in anime. I saw it when I was a kid and loved it. What I always like seeing is at conventions, they'll have a display of this quilt of all of Miyakai's notable characters hanging out together in meadow/forest on a large, elaborately stitched splash panel. Totoro is always the most prominent on it. |

He didn't on 6/6/1906 and probably won't 6/6/2106.
It happens every 100 years. There are so many stupid things attached to today, it's just silly. The one that makes me laugh, though: |

I read.
Truth be told, I tend to read more comics and manga than novels. I actually quite recently started setting about to change that and requested of my friends to recommend their favorite novels so I can ween myself off of only reading comics, graphic novels, manga, periodicals, the backs of cereal boxes and so on. Anyway, my latest reading has been philosophy books and not novels at all. My favorite fiction novels I've read recently have been Geek Love, Ender's Game and American Gods. I write as well, but I don't glorify that aspect, published or not. Most of my fiction is in my head and probably will never be articulated. It's much more beautiful as such since there's no way I could possibly write it all out without fucking it up somehow. Otherwise, I write non-fiction articles, features, interviews, and whatnot from whoever I'm working for. |

This was shortly after I realized the board was back up, newly named Xeogaming Forums. I was originally a member of Masters of Darkness, and was brought there by my then boyfriend, Lore. We both used to post at Vizzed Board, but sensing its imminent downfall and the high interest and activity at MoD, he and I joined and quickly became highly active members here around December 2003/January 2004. I'm backing Elara on that stance whether you claim it's in excess or not.

Our college had to go through a census. On one particular day, if there weren't a certain number of students in classes, they were going to take away the grants the state had already given us. Since more people are leaving to go in for full-time jobs, less people are going to school now. We don't have an excess. MOST California schools don't have an excess. And this site you're pulling your "facts" from is dated 1998. There have been some HUGE and I mean, fucking HUGE changes made since then. Not just an administration change, but in policies in education, numbers of students attending school, number of teachers, you name it. We've got fuckin' Arnold here as our governor promising that education wouldn't get touched, that he'd add money to it, then later that week gutting the schools some more. When's it going to stop?! If you went to our college, we're practically starving. Our tuition went from $11 a unit to $25 in under 2 years. That might not sound like a lot, and believe you me it's lower than many other places, but when you also have to buy your own books, pay for health and student services, lab fees, parking, whatever little thing the administration decides to tack on, you want to gut the people at the top who are raking in salary increases every semester. The teachers and classified staff haven't had a pay raise since 2000, and the building for our college president's new office building, which would have brought new classrooms lost its funding and went belly up. OSHA has had to be called so many times for asbestos here, toxic black mold there. What's more our college president has decided that she's going to retire and leave us all in debt. No, we have no fucking excess. Take your money for your wall from Bush's 100% pay increase. Don't be a grinch. We've already got this asshole here trying to shove people off land they use to grow food for 350 poor families, because he wants to use it to build a warehouse. What's L.A. doing to stop this? They sold the land to him at a lower price in a backroom deal, then promised the farmers they were going to give them at least $5 million to buy the land back, but have decided to use that money and $795 million more, to refurbish the Coliseum to try and attract an NFL team. Where's the justice? Get your priorities straight.

Whatever. That's just strange, though. He just came out of nowhere to sell tickets at LBCC? Yeah, that's a goldmine right there. (restricted) | (restricted) | (restricted) |

"Interesting interviewing process we have around here. First the interviewer comes out a girl, wants me to change her 'back' into a guy, then is replaced. Heh."

*Nevertheless Rogue remains composed and unflinching, adjusts a bit in her seat, materializes a cold gin drink in a Martini glass then turns to Vulkar.* "Want anything to drink while the thought is still there? Well while you think on it, here's an answer to your question. I'm a journalism major and intend on pursuing a job in that field. Hopefully in entertainment writing. I'm thinking about becoming a publicist, but that'll come after years of experience in writing and building up contacts. As for my experiences in college, it's quite hard to capture a general idea of them. For one, after high school I completely gained a new set of friends and am constantly gaining new ones, experienceing new things, and overall I've opened up much more and become much more eclectic since high school. Ever since I started college, I've been working for the school paper and been editor-in-chief for that and for the magazine that's put out every-so-often by the school. There's been a lot of nail-biting with that, late nights, long production days, and days I just feel like I'm giving birth without an epidural. At one point, I'd been getting suicide calls from one of my writers who had been having a tough semester, was working hard on one of her magazine stories and wasn't taking her meds. It's rough at the top, but some of the perks have been that I've been invited to different press events and am often given press passes to conventions and such. When it comes to my classes outside of the journalism department, I'd say I like taking academic, in general, but my favorite subject has become philosophy. Originally it was something I steered clear of since my father told me it wouldn't appeal to me, I used to only seek rational, concrete subjects. But philosophy was just something that I took to like a fish to water. It changed many of my outlooks on life. My professor was so pleased with my progress that she invited me to her party with her philosophy colleagues and private university students. Now that's a college party: drinkin', smokin' hookah, talking ideologies. So how 'bout that drink? If you need an idea of things to talk about with me, check out my past answers to Mistress/Master Sajin's questions. Role the tape." *Rogue winks.* |
