It was an odd birthday. Went to see my dad in the hospital and came out a nervous wreck, but I still got Greek food and a random road trip out of it.

Though it isn't the curse that it used to be, he had an infected boil on the back of his neck that wasn't healing and so when we went to see him, on my birthday, after the surgery, a chunk of his back was missing. All the skin from the middle of his neck down to the middle of his back and between his shoulders was gone. It was just exposed muscle. He's fine, but we're going to have nurses coming to the house a few times a week to change the bandages and put this wound sucking machine on his back to collect the drainage and get rid of the bacteria. Sorry to bring things down a bit. My mom and I have both been on edge for the last week, but we're coping. He isn't dying and that's what counts. But anyway, Zoso and I went on a random road trip up to the mountains because, on a whim, after going to a museum I said I wanted to see snow. So we decided to drive 'til we saw any and drove up to Mount Wilson. Got out of the car to take some pictures, scream, "Fuck, it's cold!!" and get back in the car and head home. When my dad gets out, we'll celebrate some more. |

Heh heh, I brought home snow from my grandmother's before christmas. We still have a few snowballs in the freezer. July shall be fun for me. *evil grin* |

| Diabetes blows, but I'm glad he's going to be alright.
Wanted to see snow...We don't see THAT much usually, but we usually get it around...February I guess? To be honest, I don't care too much for snow. Well, I LOVE it the first day, when it's untouched and then after, so long as there's enough to whitewash friends at random and peg one another with snowballs. But then after two days at the most, it all gets really dirty and just becomes a pain in the ass. Not to put a downer on snow... 
Though I'm glad your day was a bit random. Randomness is the best. |

So when I went to visit my at-the-time boyfriend in Texas for Christmas seven years ago, and I got to see snow and get all excited about it, it wasn't until later that night and all that week that the snow not only lost its novelty, but became a nuisance. While it's pretty to look at and fun to play in the first few days, it looks hideous trapped under cars and especially when it makes the road and sidewalks all slicked over. Our car actually went into this really bad skid/spin in the middle of a busy intersection and thankfully we didn't hit anything. Yeah, snow's picturesque and all, but freakin' annoying over the course of several days (and weeks and months, I imagine). *Plans to hide from Elara in July* |
