Displaying an utterly useless ribbon or ribbon bumper sticker is not support, what it is can be best described as a throwaway gesture that in the grand scheme of things means absolutely nothing. In fact, I strongly suspect that many of the people displaying those ribbons are doing so for selfish reasons - to ease their own conscience without having to make any personal sacrifices.

Even worse when they're on the hueg SUVs that are a part of the reason we're in Iraq in the first place.

First off why would this matter?
I'm curious as to where it says anywere that he's hiding this picture, or is this just a baseless accusation that conservatives are so found of doing (you liberals are not free from this either learn to do research).

Isn't America a land of religious freedom? Why should it matter what his denomination is? Or does this scare the christian/catholic world because he believes/doesn't believe in YOUR god?

I'm probably one of the few centrists on the board but I'm behind Obama I feel that he is the best candidate to continue to lead our country...Just my two bits...

Try to keep this off a personal level, Spartan. You're free to say what you want on the topic, but ad hominem attacks usually kill what a person says in a debate.

On a side note, if Barack were Muslim I don't see why it's an issue. Muslim doesn't equal terrorist/suicide bomber. What's more, wouldn't that show other countries that America doesn't just elect one religious body to lead?

Now in regards to his political rival, I really don't know how I feel about Hillary. While being a strong woman, were she elected it would show that there are 2 families that are leading this country: the Bush(e)s and the Clintons. I dunno.

I'm pretty sure before i made my post, that i did a Yahoo! search, and Ron Paul is a republician

Anywho...

I was watching the news last night, and it was talking about Obama's book and biography. The whole muslim thing was just a phase in his life in college. He said during those rallies, he felt out of place, and he really didn't know enough about the issues, except that he was black. It felt fake to him. He transfered from the college two years later. So w/e.

Actually Elara, if you do a bit of research into schools, you'd realize that budget is hardly the problem. I did a bit of research on a huge amount of funding taht was supposed to go to my state schools recently, and you know what I discovered?

More money went towards the principles than the teachers or the supplies. The fact is, management is taking all the money, leaving teachers and supplies to fend for themselves. An EXTREMELY small amount of money in schools are actually sent towards letting the schools function, and way more is sent towards management.

Second off, we all hear about how Canada has this, and how great Canada is with its health, Canada is super-awesome, right? Wrong. With a bit of research, you can easily learn that getting an operation in Canada can take a HUGE amount of time. So, need a heart transplant immediately? You can afford it? Too bad! We're going to make you wait until WE think you should go, even though this one guy ahead of you has been using drugs, drinking a ton of alchohol, and probably won't survive that long with a new heart anyway.

Because so far, I've heard two good things about him. First off, he stands for "Hope" and "the future". Of course, unless you go deep into his website, you'll never find out what his "hope and "future" are, it doesn't really mean anything. (his hope is making it so that politics are clean and completely perfect...which is pretty oxymoronic considering the amount of unethical politics he got into in order to become a senator...)

You keep slinging around these "facts" and "research", yet I've never seen you provide any proof of anything you've said. Ever. Which makes it somewhat difficult to really believe these pieces of information that you post that seem to have no standing in reality.

And Avatar, Ron Paul is actually an Independent, but he knew that running as one wouldn't win him the election, so he ran as Republican, because he thought he had the best chances that way.

Rogue said that you're trying to flame me, but I'm going to have to disagree, from yuor point of view, then all but the "woefully ignorant" part are valid points. As a result, I'll expalin why, and mention that you're making an ad hominem attack with your post.

Second, and this is for everyone, I have plenty of sources, and plenty of places where I've heard these things. Unfortunately, many of my sources are not actually on the internet. They come from books, magazines, radio shows, TV(not Fox), or anything else. I'm glad to say that I have more than just the internet as my source. However, with a little bit of time, I can probably find it on the internet as well.

Third, the guidelines are jsut that, guidelines. Something I copied from one of my books and decided to post. I keep to them when I think it's neccesarry.

However, on Obama's dealings, whcih seem to be your main problem, I present this article:

http://againstobama.wordpress.com/2008/02/12/old-school-dirty-politics-of-obama/

Sure, it's an anti Obama website, but it's the msot I can come up with in the ten minutes it takes for me to make this post.

Now, your next concern, is why does it matter if Obama is a muslim?

First, I'll remind you all as I've said earlier, that I'm not against the islamic people themselves, I've seen many of them that are good, moral people. However, anyone islamic will have a slight amount of bias towards islamic people, they won't view it all from an outside source nearly as much as they could have.

I say this not as a problem with the muslim religon, I say this because it's true with all religions. If I heard that all the mormons in Utah were having the same things done to them that are being done to some islamic countries, I'd probably be slightly biased as well. It woudl take a ton of work for me to approve sending our army to invade a place made up of almost only Mormons.

So basically, what I'm getting at is, he's biased, and he doesn't see things from an outside point of view.

Medicare: I'm not going to find you all links to those stories, instead I'm going to tell a true story that probably wasn't put into paper. Some guy my dad knows went to England a little while ago(remember, they use socialized medicine), and had a stroke. He went to a doctor for this, the they told him it would be six months before they could examine him. Six months before they could even get an x-ray for his head. Isn't that a bit ridiculous? Things like that don't happen in America, I can guarentee that.

On a side note, that guy just decided to go to an animal docotr, who was nice enough to x-ray him. The vet took only a day to do everything neccesarry, the doctors for humans took six months to examine him...

Yeah, there are definitely NO delays here...nope, none at all!

Finally, you all don't seem to really care about Obama's lack of patriotism. Well, sure, it's all just symbolism, but they also show respect. I don't see Obama showing respect when he ignores the national anthem, and I don't approve of the way he conducts himself.

Actually, I didn't. I mentioned that he called it fear mongering, and that it didn't explain why he still tried to hide it. If he published it, like anyone else visiting another country does, I wouldn't care, it wouldn't matter to me!

But when he tries to hide these pictures, I feel a bit suspicious...

I'll adress the other concerns later, but now I need to get back to work.

He hid it because he knew people would use it against him, because our country is full of ignorant asses.

Bullshit. Post the names of the books, quote from them, you can find anything on the internet, even if it didn't originate there. You say that you could find them, then do it. Don't post "facts" then say "I could find the source if I wanted to." If you want to actually post valid points, you have to post sources.

You're right, instead, in America, people don't get x-rays at all, because they can't afford them. And, I have to say: prove it.

That makes no fucking sense, at all. And even if it did, it doesn't really matter, because he's not. If this is the best reason someone can come up with for why he shouldn't be elected, then they are losing and are grasping at straws.

By that logic, I shouldn't vote for any Christians for President. After all, they'd be slightly biased towards a group I'm not a part of.

So basically, what I'm getting at is, he's biased, and he doesn't see things from an outside point of view.
This line of thought can be extended to justify not voting for anyone. You've yet to provide satisfactory proof that he'd be any more biased than anyone else, it's just a bias that you don't like instead of one you do.

I do believe hearsay and unciteable anecdotal evidence is often considered useless. Also, although you're free to consider it useless for the previously-stated reason, I had to get an x-ray a few months ago. Do you know how much it cost? $650, plus another $50 for reading the damned thing. If I had a scanner or digital camera, I'd show you the bill. The bill that I still haven't been able to pay fully.

If after being able to observe multiple political campaigns you still don't see a good reason for him to hide the picture, further debate with you will inevitably prove utterly fruitless.

First off, regarding the photo... where in that article did it say that he was trying to hide the photo? Just because he didn't have the photo published all over doesn't mean he was hiding it. So you made that leap on your own, which is how most of this dirty politics crap gets started. Also, the clothes were given to him by elders in the nation he was visiting... the term "muslim" is not mentioned at all in the article except in citing the rumor of Obama being one, which it is also stated to be false. The article goes on to state that Senator Clinton has worn similar native outfits when visiting other countries... cause, you know, it's what politicians do.

Secondly, wearing that stupid flag pin does not make you patriotic! In fact wearing that pin, or a flag on your car, or other stuff is, to me, one of the most fake expressions of patriotism I have ever seen. Obama was asked about this, and his response was that it is a persons' actions, not what they wear on their lapel, that shows them to be patriotic.

For the record though, personal experience is also considered an unreliable source because of bias... though I believe that in this case it is more factual since your bias isn't going to change the amount on the bill.

One and a half quadrillion dollars!

Of course, that's for sixty years, so let's divide that by sixty, and see if we can make that budget a little bit easier to manage...25,000,000,000,000! Twenty-five trillion dollars...per year... around five times our national debt...

So you see, if this goes to the government to take care of, then everyone is going to have a lower standard of living, or America is going to die of debt, because that is one heck of a lot of money.

SIR--
You know nothing about economies of scale. When you make outrageous statements like that, I expect a sizable number of cards supporting those figures. Economies have nonlinear dynamics.

So what happened to Ron Paul? Did he drop out or did the Republicans just forget he was there?
