Majestic, ivory spires reached towards the multicolored evening sky over the floating city of Dalaran, laced with reds, violets, oranges, and blues, pockmarked with wispy clouds that hung lazily overhead. The coral colored cobblestones of the sprawling city, winding in between shops and places of commerce all eventually lead to the The Violet Hold, the main base of operations for the Mage council, the Kirin Tor. Inside the structure, the ceiling seemed miles away from the floor, and the layout almost looked like that of a cathedral with winding staircases, endless shelves of books, plants in flowerpots that hovered several feet above the floor, and a number of various men and women of multiple races in violet and white robes hurrying off to their next research task, books and artifacts in hand.

On the top floor, the leader of the Kirin Tor, a human man named Rhonin, stared into the eyes of the human king Varian Wrynn, as the king himself had a scowl on his face as his glare pierced the eyes of the warchief Thrall of the Orcs, both men representing their respective factions of the Alliance and the Horde. Thrall's eyes were fixated on the blond mage Rhonin, who scratched his beard in deep thought.

"King Varian, you have to understand. An allegiance with the Horde and Alliance is necessary for the situation. Thrall, you are willing to set past trifles aside for the sake of preventing another global disaster, are you not?" Rhonin questioned pleadingly, as his robed advisers behind him glanced to and fro everyone in the room, fearing another outburst from the hot-headed king.

"I am willing to forge ahead and rally my people to the cause, but I cannot be held responsible for the king himself, nor his actions. Lord Wrynn, you are not making a good impression for your fellow pinkskins," Thrall answered nonchalantly, as Wrynn's eyes widened, his blue and white plate mail clinking with his physical reaction to Thrall's words.

'How dare you! We've had to put up with the Horde's constant attacks since the beginning of time! How do you expect me to-" He was cut off by Rhonin.

"And who do you think led us to war in the first place, King Wrynn? Certainly not the Horde. It was Deathwing's doing in the first place. You are aware of his reshaping of the land many ages ago, are you not?" Wrynn settled himself and relaxed a bit after shooting an evil glance at Thrall, who glared back,

"Yes, Rhonin. I know Deathwing was once known as Neltharion the Earth-Warder, and after the Old Gods invaded his mind somehow, he craved power, and sought to take over the world," Wrynn explained to himself.

"After amassing great power, Neltharion gave himself the name Deathwing after he betrayed his fellow Dragons, then with his newfound strength, reshaped the planet itself so that various races would go to war with each other. Nasty business, but cunning nonetheless," Thrall added. "Create internal strife between threatening races, then mow them all down while they're busy warring with each other. Quite the plot."

Rhonin clasped his hands behind his back and paced the room. "Deathwing was eventually tricked, temporarily weakened, and sealed away in a prison in the mountains, thanks to the next, and current leader of the Dragons, Alexstrasza of the Red Dragons. However, I'm not sure if we can rely on her aid in this little quest of ours; she's still shaken up over the ordeal she had with her brother not long ago... Unfortunate, but necessary." Thrall stood up and stared at Rhonin with determination in his blue eyes.

"That's not important. What matters now is the fact that Deathwing escaped, and fled. I hear that you have personally drafted some exceptionally seasoned warriors and adventurers of both factions who know the lay of the land to hunt down and slay this monster." A smile crept across Rhonin's thin lips, as he looked out the window to the city below.

"That's right, Thrall. They should be arriving any minute, now."

Dveris walked quickly through the city. DAlaran has many sights that the common man would kill to see. Not Dveris, for he'd been here many times before.

He moved towards the Violet Hold.

He must kill Deathwing. Dveris, as much as anyone, knew the ramifications of Deathwing escaping. If Deathwing was given time to act, he could destroy Azeroth. He was just as dangerous as King Arthas, if not more.

Dveris didn't want to fight someone more dangerous than Arthas.

He reached the Violet Hold, and entered quickly, meeting no resistance. Whatever guards were here alrready knew he was coming. He walked up many staircases. He knew his way around the Hold, he had visited here many times when he fought the Scourge.

He slowed his walk as he reached the final doors. Behind them was King Varian and Warchief Thrall, no doubt disputing. He opened the doors, pulled out his sword, took three steps forward, and kneeled before them, eyes on the ground, and sharp sword poking into the stone floor. He was a great warrior, but he knew better than to show disrespect to the two most powerful men in Azeroth.

What lay before the lords was a great sight. Dveris wore armor that shined completely white, armor that symbolized the purety he sought to achieve. He was a large man, covered in muscles, and over six feet tall. In his hands was a great sword, painted white just like his armor. It had no colorful designs on it, instead, its beauty was purely in its simplicity.

Under one arm was his helmet, and on his back, a shield. The shield, unlike the rest of his armor, had several bloodstains, and many marks from where blades had hit his shield. They were to remind him of the men he had killed, to remind him of th cost of Azeroth's safety.

"My Lords, he said with a voice that, though powerful, was humble. "I am honored to kneel before you in this time of crises. What wouldst thou ask of me?

All three men, as well as the consorts of Rhonin turned to look into the eyes of the paladin. Rhonin smiled cheerily, as he turned his attention to Dveris.

"No, it is we who are honored to have such a talented soldier of the Light among us once more. There's no need for formal speech with us, Dveris; you've earned the right of casual speech in our presence, my friend," Rhonin stated with praise in his voice as he laid a hand upon the paladin's shoulder. Thrall looked intrigued.

"Dveris... The name's certainly familiar. I've heard murmurs of a paladin within Stormwind's ranks that slew a countless number of Scourge during the war in Icecrown. Is this he?" Thrall asked King Varian Wrynn, who, after averting his gaze from Dveris, shot a typical glare at Thrall.

"That is indeed our best Paladin. Even I was unaware he'd be joining the hunt. It's an honor to see you in good health, Dveris," Varian complimented, as he smirked towards his loyal soldier.

"Have you brought friends with you, Dveris?" Rhonin questioned, expecting a positive answer.

"My Lady Jaina! You're rather late, I see. The preparations are already beginning, ma'am," the stammering Violet Hold guard sputtered at the beautiful blonde human mage from Theramore who had teleported into the Hold mere seconds ago. She blushed and smiled in embarrassment, and bowed at the guard.

"I'm terribly sorry, there was important business to attend to," Jaina Proudmoore replied with a bashful chuckle in her voice. "I know; as a leading member of the Kirin Tor, punctuality is key. I'll be heading up there shortly." Jaina, the single most powerful sorceress on Azeroth, was a quiet, reserved woman, almost innocent in nature. Staying out of combat unless it's absolutely necessary, Jaina is an intelligent, dignified woman.

There was a few knocks, then the slamming of heavy wood against marble, as the doors of the Violet Hold swung open, revealing three shadowy figures, silhouetted by the light outside, one very large, the second smaller, and the third, lanky and smallest of all three.
"Where is Rhonin? We are here to seek audience with him!" barked a gruff, gravely voice; the voice of an orc.

"Calm yourself, Steelshatter. There will be a time for shouting later," retorted the deep, mellow, baritone voice of a Tauren, as the trio moved closer into the building revealing themselves fully.

"I didn't think I'd have to come back here again... The stench of war is all-consuming in this city lately," came a quiet, delicate female voice, as the blue lips of the Undead mage voiced their opinions.
"Funny; when I think of stenches, I think of your people, Analyne!" the orc half-joked with a hearty guffaw, as Analyne forced a weak smile and a chuckle to match, as her sad eyes met the floor while the three proceeded. The orc caught sight of the human Jaina, and his eyes widened.
"Jaina... Jaina Proudmoore?! Does... Thrall know you're here?" he asked with caution. She responded with a shake of the head.

"No, I just arrived here. You three must be here to speak with Rhonin about the dragon hunt. Go on up, I'll follow you shortly," Jaina responded as the orc, Steelshatter bowed graciously. He motioned to the tremendous Tauren behind him.

"Agalo, you take the lead. I'll bring up the rear. If King Varian Wrynn is here, we can expect some confrontations, to say the least," Steelshatter stated as his eyes narrowed and got in position behind Analyne, who nodded as she pulled out her ornate staff from behind her back and brandished it as though she was attacking something before using it as a walking staff as they moved up the stairs.

Two elves, a nightsaber, and a human walked through the city in silence. It was a vibrant place, and neither elf was comfortable there; Nilanos' eyes were constantly scanning for a shadowed corridor or anything of the sort that he could duck into, if he needed. To his disappointment, he neither found nor needed one.

The guards at the Violet Hold were expecting them, though suspicious of the crimson-robed human. Arilene overheard some muttered insults from one of the guards as she tied Mephior to a post, but she managed to pull Athyn inside before he caused a scene.

She didn't want to have to extinguish another man's hat.

These three guests did not look like great heroes or warriors. Truthfully, they didn't look comfortable there at all, all of them had places they'd much rather be. But, duty and money called.

"We're here," Nilanos stated simply as the three entered the room they were ordered into. As he looked around, he saw something rather... displeasing. A Paladin... and Athyn... This may be a mess, he thought to himself, trying to keep his disappointment in his situation from showing.

He'd still rather work with an Orc than a Paladin, since he was stuck dragging this particular Warlock around...

Arilene had knelt, but he and Athyn remained standing. Nilanos didn't even realize it until it was too late, and Athyn... well... he was going to make this a long trip.

The Horde trio creaked the door to the audience room open slowly, in great contrast to their boisterous entrance to the Keep itself, and as they glanced about, all heads turned toward them, Wrynn bolted out of his seat, upright, and a look of anger spread across his face. Rhonin had noticed this, and acted.

"King Wrynn, In order for this assault to work, Horde and Alliance need to band together as heroes. Be thankful it is not as armies," Rhonin spoke smoothly with a smile across his face, as the Horde trio looked about the room. Thrall ever so badly wanted to say to Wrynn, with a smug look, 'Horde heroes outnumbering your Alliance friends three to one? How does it feel to command a conglomeration of cowards?' but held his tongue as to not instigate anymore outbursts.
The Orc spoke for all three of them, the Undead being particularly shy, especially around her former people, and the Tauren merely observing before acting.

"Rhonin; we are here on behalf of the Warchief, and of the Horde itself. I am Rokhar Steelshatter, veteran of several wars, and hero of Orgrimmar. The Tauren is Agalo Stormhoof, a Shaman of Thunderbluff, and to my left is the exceedingly adept mage, Analyne Stevens, and we will lend our strength to your cause," Rokhar declared with a bow. "It is an honor to be in your presence, my illustrious Warchief," he praised, looking dead at Thrall, while Wrynn sat back in his seat, legs crossed, with a discouraged look on his face.

Rhonin's blonde hair sparkled with his eyes. It was all coming together.
Only moments afterward, three more people arrived. Different people. As the door lazily swung open again, two tall figures appeared, those of night elves, and one shorter one, that of a human. Wrynn felt a semi-triumphant smirk worm its way across his lips as the balance in factions shifted to his favor; four against three.

Again, Rhonin eyed the trio up and down, and drew a conclusion.

"Let me guess. The Night Elves are Nilanos and Arilene, and the human would be Athyn, correct?" he inquired hopefully, extending a hand out in friendship to the obviously disgruntled male Elf, who seemed obvious that he'd rather not be present. Analyne held no feelings either way, hatred or reverence for them, while Rokhar bit his lip, knowing he'd have to endure a tumultuous friendship, at best. Agalo eyed the Elves up and down, and smiled to himself. He and his people had great respect for the Night Elves, as the Taurens and they shared similar feelings about life, the planet, and its creatures. Wrynn squirmed.

There was a flash of light, concentrated in the far corner of the room, and with the ambient sound of cascading magic, whose howl resembled a windstorm, Jaina appeared before the increasingly large audience that had gathered.

"I apologize for my late arrival, Sir Rhonin. I've been gathering last minute intelligence on Deathwing's whereabou-" She stopped herself, her eyes meeting Thrall's. "Thrall... I didn't know you'd be here, as well, but I should have figured. The Horde needs a representative here, after all." Thrall looked at her lazily, almost not seeming to care.

"I am merely doing my part to ensure the survival of life on Azeroth. Believe it or not, Jaina, there are a few pinkskins I'd rather not see dead," he replied, before sneering at Wrynn, who covered his face with his palm to mask his frustration.

Dveris looked at Rhonin and stood, "I was brought no friends, after Icecrown, I advised my soldiers to leave war, and find another profession." He smiled slightly, "several of them have married, I was declared godfather for one of their children just over a week ago."

The doors opened loudly again, and Dveris saw three members of the Horde enter. He stayed silent as they entered, and stayed silent again as the elves and another human entered.

Then came a woman he did recognize. Jaina Proudmore. He had never spoken to her, but he knew her face.

He looked at the Jaina and Thrall as they spoke. "Great Warchief, honored lady," he said. "Let set aside disputations for now. You fought well together against the Burning Legion so long ago, surely you can do so again."

In truth, despite working with the alliance, Dveris bore no prejudice against the horde. If they would set aside their hatred of each other, the world would be a much better place.

"I will say this, Great Warchief, I have never killed any of the Horde unless in self defense. I am neutral in this conflict between Alliance and Orc, my only enemy is Deathwing."

Alicia walked into the room. "Your only enemy huh..." She wasn't amazed. This time, per family rule she was sent out on a mission to risk her life....again. Alicia's spider scurried with her as she walked in. The spider was golden with green eyes and pretty big. Alicia pat the arthropod and the spider ran up the wall and moved quickly to the left and right as if it was planning something. "I have never killed Horde... Not my style. Killing..." Alicia sighed. "I'd rather help from the sidelines." She blinked her blue eyes. She had a partially dazed look. Alicia had to fly from her family reunion all the way....HERE. Alicia was really not in a good mood, though her face didn't show it. Alicia's eyes moved from each member of the group to the next. Her hair was tied up in a braid. Alicia kept a facade looking appreciative that she was sent here for a mission. Smile and nod... She thought. It's all about the politics.

"That would be correct," Nilanos said in response to Rhonin, still shifting uncomfortably. His discomfort was not helped by the god damn that's a huge spider that just entered the room. "Really now, did you have to bring that thing in here?"

"Well damn," Athyn said, watching the spider move back and forth, "if I'd known that was allowed, I'd've brought Shana with me."

Wanting to end that line of thinking immediately, Arilene spoke up. "You mentioned Deathwing's location?"

Alicia looked at Athyn. "Duchess is part of the Tearcoat family just about as much as my immediate family. Plus she pretty much stays out of the way and just shifts around. I promised his highness that I would train her not to spin webs in his royal presence." Alicia looked at Rhonin. "After all, I couldn't last being separated from her. Plus she's a political tool now." Alicia sighed. "She helps librians get their books and what not." Alicia retorted to Nilanos's question after speaking to Athyn. "Yes I do... after all Duchess is my best friend and deserves to learn just about as much as I learn on a day to day basis. Besides... she doesn't attack the races. She attacks monsters."

Rhonin smiled faintly at the arachnid in the chamber. While not a fan of creatures in the antechamber, he wasn't perturbed. This was a matter of grave importance, and rules were meant to be broken in certain situations.

"I understand, huntress. Now then, since I believe everyone is present for the information, I will allow Lady Proudmoore her chance to speak with you. Yes, as Arilene asked, I too, am interested to hear this intelligence on Deathwing you seem to have."

Jaina cleared her throat and bowed in his presence, and her gaze slowly met everyone's in the room.

"Right, then. Adventurers, scouts from Theramore have done some reconnaissance around the Grim Batol, east of the city. The Red Dragons in the area, the likely jailers, or whatever you'd call them, are dead, and there is a large collapse in the area. We did not investigate inside the cave of the mountain where Deathwing is presumed to have been kept, however. That will be your job."

Rhonin scratched his beard, intrigued. "I see. Very well then, I suppose we can go on this information as our first lead. Now then, down to business. I am the mage Rhonin, head of the Kirin Tor, for those of you who may not know. As we are all very well aware, Deathwing, once called Neltharion the Earth-Warder, has freed himself from his mountain prison, and his lack of sanity is likely persuading him to continue his wanton destruction of Azeroth as previously intended. Horde and Alliance alike, you must join forces. Your combined experience will be your greatest asset. The world is counting on you, adventurers."

At this, Agalo spoke up, asking a question he knew the answer to, but others may have not. "Why send a small band of warriors in to do the deed, and not a battalion of soldiers?"

"It is hard enough getting a few heroes of the factions together for a common cause as it is, much less armies. Also, an army would be a large target, and ill-equipped for fighting a monstrosity of such tremendous power. They'd be broiled within their armor within a matter of seconds," Rhonin replied simply as he looked the Tauren in the eyes, knowing his true intentions of asking the question in the first place.

"Right, then. Dveris, I know you personally, thusly, I will entrust this to you," he declared as he reached into the pocket of his robe and revealed a softly glowing orb the size of a baseball which exuded a soft, green aura. "This mystical artifact will allow you to communicate with me as needed. Keep me informed of intelligence reports, as well as your findings. Jaina will not be joining you, as there is business in Theramore she must attend to. Are there any questions?"

Rokhar, Analyne, and Agalo shook their heads slowly, almost in tandem, as though their thoughts were in sync with each other as they listened intently to Rhonin's closing statements.

Duchess climbed up to the top of the ceiling. Alicia sighed and put a hand on the black goggles on her forehead. She looked at Duchess. "Hey Dutchie, stop playing around..." The spider jumped off the top of the ceiling and landed right in front of Nilanos with a big thud. Then scrurred its way to Alicia. When the golden spider stopped it began shifting to the left and right again. "Well, I don't care, either way... I was assigned a mission..." Alicia looked over at the group. "By the way, sorry to be late... The name's Alicia Tearcoat." She put her hands behind her back and held her chest out a bit then shifted her weight to her left. "I'm a hunter in my family, so I get stuck on missions." She put to hands on her goggles. "It's nice to meet you all... I hope we have a good time on the way over." The spider scurried around to Alicia's left side. "This is my friend Duchess... Don't be mean to her. She tends to attack things that attack her. Mainly monsters, like I said before."

Nilanos simply stared blankly ahead after the spider shuffled away from him, Athyn barely stifling a laugh.

"Poor odds and just a small group of people? Sounds like a typical job to me. Not that I've dealt with dragons before, but what would life be without new experiences?" Arilene said cheerfully, instinctively checking her quiver. "Nils, you alright over there?"

Nilanos only twitched slightly in response.

"This'll be a long trip," Athyn quietly remarked. "A long, hilarious trip..."

Alicia looked at Nilanos. Her face was confused. "Did he have a bad experience with spiders? I thought my spider would actually be a bit useful since scaling walls are Duchess's specialty."

Duchess swiftly moved over to Nilanos and rubbed against his leg. The spider made a high pitched squeak and then scurried to and fro.

Alicia smirked. "Looks like she likes you."

A figure walked out from the balcony of the Purple Parlor, a rather stiff seeming human walked into the room of gathered misfits. His low, raspy voice rung out.

"Put that damned spider on a leash before I mount it as a trophy."

Gazing from beneath the dark goggles, Julius was ashamed of this group of total misfits. Half of these people seemed as though they would kill you for the hell of it. The other half were no-good fucking hippies, how could I be thrust into a group with people who would only kill if they were attacked. Initiative accounts for a lot in this world. A little bit of preparation and planning can make all the difference.

"I caught the drift of what was going on from out there. It reeks. Surely theres a plan for destroying this thing, I mean from what I hear taking down Arthas took dozens of warriors."

Julius looked around the room again.

"I don't see dozens."

He noted the leaders of the Horde and Alliance were here. He was most interested in Sylvanas, she was perfect in every way. He brushed his hair out of the way of his goggles. His red gloves covering his claws, and his boots covering the claws on his feet as well. He did seem perfectly human, albeit a grumpy human.

Duchess hissed at Julius. Alicia cracked her knuckles. "Don't insult my friend..." She said with a frown. Duchess ran around to Alicia purposely shuffling on to Julius's leg and then over to Alicia. Alicia put a hand on Duchess and pat the mad spider. "It's okay Dutchie." Alicia nodded to Duchess then looked at Julius. "Duchess said that you need to stop being so negative about the group we're placed in. We're not in control over what the future brings us. After all, if I have to, I'll kill someone for my master Alicia." Alicia looked at Julius. "She also said, fuck you."

Dveris raised his eyebrows at the spider. He wasn't one for pets, but it could be useful.

He looked at Julius as he walked inside. "Dozens would ruin the chance of a surprise attack. He'll spot an army moving, but I'd guess that he won't see five travellers. If we can attack him when he's not ready, we can kill him."

Dveris grabbed the glowing orb from Rhonin. "I'll let you know if anything important happens."

It was time for fun.

Rokhar scowled, as Agalo shook his head despondently at the little creatures' antics. "Hey! Undead! Pinkskin! Shut your traps, or by Hellscream's Axe, I'll shut them for you! There's work to be done!" the Orc barked at the bickering newcomers. Rhonin closed his eyes in exasperation, and silently thanked the green-skinned warrior for attempting to break up the ruckus.

Rhonin noted Julius' observation. "The Lich King had an army, and a following. In order to match wits, many more people had to assemble to bring he and his legion down. Deathwing, as powerful as he is, shouldn't have much of an 'army', save for his brood of Black Dragons." He scowled at the sparks flying between the new people.

"Settle down, all of you. It's time for us to begin our work. If you cannot learn to work together, I suggest you leave. If you do, then you alone can feel the guilt for not helping your comrades, save all of Azeroth from becoming nothing more than ash." Clearing his throat, Rhonin motioned to Jaina Proudmoore. "Lady Proudmoore, you may give the orders."

The youthful blonde mage took a bow, and brushed her hair behind her ears.
"Very well. I believe the first course of action is to investigate the Grim Batol itself, find any survivors of Alexstrasza's brood of Red Dragons, and see if you can't get any information. There's a good chance that Deathwing may have left some of his brood in his little cave, so be prepared." She glanced around the room now that things were settled, for the most part.

"I will open a portal to Menethil Harbor. From there, head east, through the marshes, until you come to a small collection of mountains. That is the Grim Batol. Report to Rhonin via his orb of any information you might find. Good luck, adventurers. May Light bless you, and come back in one piece."

Her hands began to glow as she raised them over her head, arcane magic channeling through her, and a large, soft sphere of light began to grow in front of her, and soon stabilize. Within it, one could see an exceedingly cloudy sky overlooking a shabby dock, salt marshes, and several buildings of a nondescript nature. Most mages can only open portals to major cities, but Jaina, the talented mage she is, could open a portal anywhere.

Agalo slung his mace upon his shoulder with a grunt, and bowed in the presence of the mage before stepping through the portal, before waving everyone else on. Rokhar followed, determined and steadfast, and Analyne brought up their rear, keeping her head down as she nodded at Jaina before disappearing into the soft glow of the portal to Menthil Harbor. To the Grim Batol.

"You know, we could just kill him," Athyn whispered to Arilene after the newcomer's whining ceased.

"Not now, Athyn, we have work to do," the hunter replied auidbly. "Rhonin, I need to retrieve my pet before I go, he's right outside. Athyn, deal with Nilanos." The warlock smirked and pushed Nilanos in front of the portal. He moved around for a little, as though lining up a golf swing, then moved directly behind Nilanos and kicked him through.

"The shock oughta snap him out of it. Right, then, back to a city built where cities should be... who the hell thought this one was a good idea, anyway?" Before getting an answer, Athyn stepped through the portal, Arilene re-entering the room just afterward with her Nightsaber. Mephior snarled at Julius, but the hunter grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him through the portal.

Alicia shrugged as she walked through the portal. Duchess followed behind her and swiftly moved to the left and right behind Alicia.

Julius smiled lightly, good someone stood up to him. He brushed his hair out of his face again, and lifted the goggles to his forehead to reveal his white glowing eyes, he stared at the beautiful Sylvanas for a moment, and then walked through the portal. Upon arrival in the harbor, he lowered his goggles once more. These hid his true race from everyone, but he wanted Sylvanas to see him for who he was. He stood beside the large and powerful orc, speaking in his usual tone he said.

"Now now, don't be hasty. I never said I didn't want to come along. Besides, you don't want to make enemies with your healer."

Julius smiled, he knew there were others in the group who could heal, but actually healing is a full time job.
