So I'm kinda upset to hear that ^^ will be portraying Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern in an up coming silver screen hit. I enjoy Ryan, he was good as the Merc with a Mouth, until he didn't have a mouth and became Baraka, and he's funny when needed but he won't do this role justice and that upsets me.

You know, I wouldn't mind him as the Green Lantern. The director's could easily ruin it by doing what the Green Hornet movie is doing. I think that Ryan Reynolds is a talented actor, and he has more roles than just humor. In Definitely, Maybe he played a serious and emotional role, and thought that he pulled it off okay.
Like you said, he plays an awesome bad ass, and that's just what a super hero is. If directed properly, I think that he could pull this role off without a problem. Besides, every super hero isn't Superman and Batman. While they are greatly popular and amazing heroes, they both display very little emotion when it comes to real life. I think that using an actor that will add character to the role is a great choice. |

Yeah, Entertainment Weekly was the first to get to print an official image of him in the suit. Link.
I've already heard several dozen fanboys bitch about it. Honestly, I never really got into the Green Lantern corps. To me it's just guys with rings that make them powerful which they suddenly have to charge when the plot is at a fevered pitch. Green Arrow all the way, baby. EDIT: Fucking typos. Originally posted by Rogue I wonder what Toad thinks about it, lol. But yeah, honestly, there have been so many Green Lanterns that I think Renoylds will do a fine job. I only know the basics about the character and universe, but I know enough that it shouldn't be a problem. Is he portraying a specific past one or a new one? |

I was actually talking to my coworker today about how unappreciated comedy actors/actresses can be sometimes! I mean, have you ever seen 1-Hour Photo? Robin Williams goes from the lovable guy we all grew up with to a scary freaking mofo! I know that Ryan Reynolds is just as versatile, he just simply gets typecast too often, he always ends up playing the same exact character in all of his comedies, so you come to expect that he's going to act the same as a previous movie.
This is just like when I first heard that Robert Downy Jr. was going to play Iron Man, my initial reaction was very skeptical but the end result was Tony Stark. |

Originally posted by Gunmetal Badass Exactly. Everyone believes that a comedian cannot do anything else but tell jokes, which is not the case. Sticking with Robin Williams, he also played a psychopath in the movie Insomnia. I haven't seen the movie for ages, but it was very startling to see him playing the bad guy! Plus, he also played a magnificent young doctor in Awakenings. I think that you're jumping the gun, Vince. This is besides the fact that Reynold's is one of my favorite comedians. |

Hal Jordan is an old Green Lantern, previous question answered. As to say i'm jumping the gun, we'll see. Hal is from the golden age of comics, so they're going to have to do a massive character revamp. And If they just keep him the way he is in the comics, Ryan Renolyds won't play anything but a happy go lucky 2d character.

Ryan Reynolds will be just fine. He is a great and very underrated actor who makes even some of the most poorly written movies bearable (see The Proposal). I think he can pull off the serious role just as good as a humorous one, and I'm sure he'll bring at least some humor to the movie, which is far from bad. I, for one, am excited.

Originally posted by Phoenix I'll put it to you this way. I don't think Ryan Reynolds will suck at the part, but I'm not much of a Green Lantern fan to begin with. So I'm not in with those upset that he's Hal Jordan. |

Originally posted by RogueOriginally posted by Phoenix I never paid much attention to the Green Lantern, either. I know enough that I'm interested to see how the movie goes, but I probably on't see it until it comes out on DVD/Comcast. |

It's the fifties american icon with a ring that can help him do almost anything, not to mention that the character flaws are mighty as well as the main villain who is just a yellow version of a Green Lantern. I wish it was Alan Scott, he's a nice 3d character. Or Jack T Chance, see my title and you'll understand how awesome he is lol.

Every Green Lantern has to say an oath to activate their powers, they don't rap. Wiki Jack T. Chance, he is mighty. |
