I am going to assume that more than likely that this will not be released on current generation consoles. From what I understand, this game is going to be really pushy in terms of graphics. But that is just a rumor. More is to follow in the 2011 year.

But aren't you guys excited? Yes, it's a bethesda game, and I hope and pray that they will get rid of gamesbyro engine that has plagued the glitchy games. I'm pretty confident that this game won't have the same engine.

But i'm excited. I spent over 500 hours on Morrowind. Over 300 on Oblivion, and for this game I want to spend countless nights doing the same thing I did for the previous games. Dungeon crawling, casting magic, and smoking moonsugar off of my killer rare item The Bong of Destiny. Which added +50 to my intelligence. (Ok I'm joking that was never in the game, you know that)

But I'm hella excited for this.

Yay. More Elder Scrolls.

I'm hoping for more in the Morrowind direction than the Oblivion one, though. The culture and architecture seemed just different enough to stay interesting in Morrowind, while Oblivion was... well... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't in any way distinct either.

And ditch the Oblivion style auto-scaling, for fuck's sakes. Morrowind scaled just right - common thieves were always common thieves, daedric ruins were always a dangerous prospect, but there was enough variation to keep things interesting.

And the skills only mattering in increments of 25 BS really should go, too.

Oblivion did a few things right, though. Combat was better, stealth was better, and magic wasn't horribly gimped.

(Actually, I'd really like if they ditched the entire levelling system, replacing it with something akin to Galsiah's Character Development, but I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.)

I agree with you. I loved Morrowind. But Oblivion? I did not hate it; I just did not feel that Oblivion was the superior one.

Now that we are in the Digital age: I am sure Bethesda has learned and are listening to their fans of their games and might pick up on what the fans want.

I never got into Morrowind, but I loved Oblivion (after modding the hell out of it). I, too, agree that the combat is good, but the leveling is terrible. I fixed that with mods, fixed the ugly people with mods, fixed skills with mods, and made the world more accessible with open cities. I wasn't a fan of scaling, but the options in the guide I used were to remove scaling or to reduce it - I reduced it so I could travel on any road and not be in fear of death from 1-shots in the early game.

I used this as a guide:

And Fallout 3!

Sorry, I had too. Bethesda is pretty weak in my book, so I'm kind of just meh about this one so far. I remember how insane Oblivion "looked" at the time, then I played it! ...

/me shrugs.

I like Fallout 3.

Bethesda seems to do a great job with creating a world and a rather poor job on gameplay. Thankfully, the most egregious mistakes can usually be fixed with mods.

I loved Fallout 3 so much I platinum'd the game.

Except for the expansions of course because they were too buggy.

To give Bethesda it's defense Gamesbyro is a seriously buggy engine. Used in Morrowind and it's Fallout games; this new engine is built from the ground up and it's taken into heart of Bethesda from the minds of it's players. Don't give it's past games doubt because some of it's 00' games have been very good! Give or take some of it's older audience likes the company's classics more than the newer games. But hell! This looks to be a promising game!

If it sucks. It sucks! But from the time being it looks that Bethesda is doing a fine damn job with the game!

I think it looks a LOT better than Dragon Age 2, to be honest. I'm still not as excited as you guys, but yeah I'm optimistic enough to give it a shot sometime. The fact that they are using a new engine is definitely good to hear. I'm kind of hoping with them and id together now though that they'll use the Rage engine for the next Fallout, that would be nuts.

I'm pretty sure he's right.

I remember having to double check when people made jokes about New Vegas using "a near 10 year old engine". lol

To defend you though. A lot of people mistake this because of the graphic comparison. Easily mistaken.

Yeah I don't blame you, lol. I didn't believe it until I looked it up that one time. Shocking, but then it kind of makes sense...
