Murder is one of the most horrible crimes that can possibly be committed. The taking of another's life is something that can never be reversed. But, is there anything worse than murder?

While murder can affect friends and family members of the deceased (along with ending someone's life), I believe there are a couple crimes worse than murder. In my opinion, the worst crimes are rape and child abuse.

My reasons being, that while murder is life-ending and horrible, it doesn't really affect it's victim psychologically (that we know of), whereas rape and child abuse are life altering events.

For years after the event, a rape victim can have flashbacks, being triggered by anything. An abused child can grow up with mental issues because of being abused physically, emotionally, or sexually.

I don't mean to handle murder lightly, but I honestly feel it isn't the worst thing that can happen to a person.

What do you feel is worse than murder? Or do you feel that murder is worst?

Hmm, right now there's a case a few miles from my house.

This man filed for divorce. He came to, having been drugged, to find himself tied to his bed with his soon-to-be ex-wife standing over him with a kitchen knife. She proceeded to cut his penis off with and snidely say he deserved it, and then... THEN... she stuck the severed member in the garbage disposal. So it can never be re-attached.

Not being a penis-owner myself, I still felt... well... weirded out.

I mean, I've always had this phobia of amputations. I REALLY couldn't handle watching Civil War documentaries that spoke of it in detail. I also can't handle the implications of it in most films. Like I just feel squeamish.

And the idea that she destroyed it and turned it into ground meat was just so traumatizing, I'm sure.

I think the idea that there could be a fate worse than death is the notion that something happening to a person could be so traumatizing, so mentally, emotionally, and spiritually destructive, that they'd just rather die than live with themselves any longer.

Undergoing torture could be considered far worse than death. Perhaps being used in mad science experiments, even. I know when I first heard the premise of The Human Centipede I thought I'd rather just kill myself than go through that.

Hum... I'd have to know more details about the case in order to decide my opinion on it.

If she just randomly chopped it off because she felt like it, I'd say it's horrid.

If, say, she was a battered woman who was cheated on then beaten and raped constantly, then I'd say he deserved it.

(That being said, Lorena Bobbit is one of my heroes.)

As far as anyone knows it was merely because he filed for divorce. In all the interviews that I've seen with their neighbors, he's always been considered a nice guy and she creeps people out.

The victim hasn't been answering any questions, merely saying this is a private matter.

She hasn't said anything more than, "He deserved it," and didn't enter a plea when she was in court today.

I seriously need a "Like" button for that one.

Hmm... worse than murder. I would think that making someone else watch you murder someone is worse than just murder alone. Not only are you putting the family through grief by killing that person, but in addition you are completely traumatizing another by making them watch. For example, when a man kills his wife while their children watch... that is messed up.

Or those murder suicides when one member of the family has issues and kills the whole family to "spare them the pain". It's selfish AND fucked up.

Pedophilia.

Granted. Murder is a big deal. It's taking someone's life into one's hands. But imagine being 10 years old and being sexually molested. And you live with it your whole life. It's corruption at it's finest. You can be a killer and the more you do it the more it won't effect you as a person. Sure, it hurts lives around you. Death can sometimes be stopped! But you can't stop trauma. Even from defenseless kids.

Bit of a bump, but I've been on hiatus for a while, and I don't want decent topics going to waste.

Is there anything worse than murder? There's too many factors. Like the abuse idea...I'm not afraid to admit it. My dad wasn't ever very...well, not ready to beat the shit outta me. I'm talking he's seen jail time for it. Starting with my broken ribs, knocked out teeth...etc....

The reason why I say that it's all perspective, however, is not due to the degree of the crime. Sometimes it's simply the person. I know of others who have gone through FAR less than I, and couldn't hold a candle to the grace in which I held myself through my issues. At the same time, there are others who have gone through far worse than I, that I know, and I wouldn't be able to hold my head as high as their's for the life of me.

How I would measure something like this is, take each incident, each idea, separately. Treat it as though none have gone before and none will go after.

But yes, I DO believe there are things out there that are worse than murder.
