You have no idea how much I envy you right now. I am still sad I never got to go on the trip to have a class on ancient Greece taught on location... and you're getting Egypt, Israel, and Turkey (I am assuming Istanbul? Please take pics of the Hagia Sophia for me... and pics of everything else).

When you find out what the other locations in Greece are let me know, I know big tourist sites are Thermopylae, Marathon, and Sparta but I don't know what is accessible by cruise ship. Corinth?

How do they not give you time to see the Parthenon? That is just beyond me.

Busy, who, me?

I have no choice but to work two jobs on top of going to summer school, which is 2 hours a day, four days a week for 8 weeks. Fun stuff! I also have to figure out how to add volunteering at a veterinary clinic to my schedule as well. July is also going to be a crazy month... Many doctor's appointments, I finally get my last name back (divorce finalises), register for school for the fall semester (I graduate after this, yay!), I'm applying to a university in New Zealand and it's my birthday (even though I'll be working on it!)!!.

Elara, I think we're going to Ephesus in Turkey. Among the tours are visiting what was supposedly the final residence of the Virgin Mary, so my mom, the super Catholic, is thrilled.

Finished the 40-page newsletter yesterday and sent a PDF to the client I did it for. Took me a week. He's printing it out and mailing me the corrections some time this week while he's in Hawaii. I'm REALLY hoping he doesn't have any drastic changes. Then again, I'm hoping I get paid for this job.

Getting around to editing a manuscript for Stitch, which he plans to submit to a publisher... one day.

In the meantime I've been making and jarring strawberry vanilla jam, shooting Voidcrush shows, and I spent all of today wandering around Los Angeles because I haven't had a day to myself in a couple weeks. Hit up the interactive Da Vinci exhibit in Hollywood, a taxidermy store, a vintage toy shop, among other things.

I need to start on a story I'm doing for this other website I just started working for.

Got the corrections in the mail a week ago and finished them up. Still waiting to hear what else the client wants on this.

Otherwise work has been editing Stitch's manuscript, shooting Voidcrush shows, and gearing up to write this freelance story and Voidcrush's media kit.

And I cleaned my mother-f-ing room. I can see the floor!

Stitch and I are flying up to San Francisco tomorrow for their Gay Pride festival and coming back Monday.

Looking through the pages of this thread, I feel completely lazy and sluggish compared with my past overly busy self.

I've actually been doing a whole lot of nothing. Well, nothing toward progressing my career or what have you. I've been working on my grandmother's house, painting, weeding, fogging it, and so on. My aunt also keeps spreading BS that I'm not actually doing anything that she's supposedly paid me for, and that when I finally get to watch my grandmother, which is rarely these days, that I leave the house and leave her to stare at the wall, alone in the dark.

Finally sat down with the parents to decide on what tours to see on the trip next month.

Well, back to being busy being bored.

Well, at least you have that post quota to keep you busy.

I've been working... and I have newfound respect for grocery store cashiers since it sucks having to be on your feet for eight hours, doing the same repetitive motion over and over and over..... I haven't been this sore in months.

I entered into this fiction writing contest for the Pathfinder Chronicler, which is a group of people that do fiction work based on the Pathfinder RPG, yet are not actually owned by Paizo Publishing though they are allied. They put out an annual anthology of short stories, and this contest is for a top place in the next one as well as gift cards to Paizo's online store. I didn't initially make it into the second round (I was ranked 21-25 and only the top 20 moved on), however two of those 20 flaked out and they called for volunteer alternates... which I jumped on. So I wrote, edited, and submitted a just under 4500 word story in ten days while the top 20 people had a month. Only three move on to the next round, so here is hoping that I am one of the lucky ones.

My first round story is now going through editing for consideration in the Anthology... though there is no guarantee that it will make it in. I am having trouble rewriting the ending to improve it because I've been so scatterbrained, but I am hopeful.

In addition to all this, we finally found a potential gaming group here and we have the first game on Saturday, so Ben and I have been busy making characters all week. Mine is nominally done, so I don't have that to worry about. Now I can get back to helping my friend Bernard with the background stuff for the LARP I've been helping him create.

Yeah, I still need a job as well. But I just gave my info to a staffing agency, so hopefully that'll turn something up. Sysadmin? I'd dig it.

Right now is kinda the middle ground for me, but I have until Wednesday to live somewhat freely. Then the semester starts. I went down Wednesday and today to finalize everything and get all my books and supplies...and I'm already sick of the semester. XD I like seeing people and learning shit, but I REALLY don't do too well with no sleep, and that's what I'll be saying goodbye to.

Work is hell lately. My boss is an idiot. HIS boss is an idiot, but at least HIS boss is a pushover. Short version of a recent issue is, some lady was going postal because she changed her mind and wanted Madden for another system other than the one she reserved it on. Well, we were OUT of madden for the system she wanted it for, and having difficulty locating it. So what does she do? Goes postal. (Short version) and today my district manager calls me and says "Look...I'm going to tell her to come in today...you're not in trouble, we looked into the situation. You were in the right. But she is still a customer, and we're going to give her a 20 dollar giftcard for her trouble." I interrupted him at that point and said "No, if she comes in here, I'm refusing service and if she doesn't leave immediately, I'll have her escorted away in handcuffs. She only had 5 bucks on the game. The person behind her spend almost a grand. And THAT person almost left because of her douchery, so no. I'm not condoning her sort of behavior in my store."

And THIS is the kind of shit that has eaten up most of my time lately. This kinda shit. On a constant basis. And it's draining me.

Retail is scary. But I work for idiots and pushovers...meaning while they're idiots and that's frustrating, and I work WAY harder than I should...I always get my way. My new DM won't stand up to me. And if he does, well...I like a man with a bigger set than I.

Why are there idiots EVERYWHERE? Some people need to return to the trees and resume life as an ape, eating bananas and having crazy monkey sex.

...

Can I resume life as an ape?

I'm wondering the same thing.

I am convinced that one of the baggers (who is in his 40s) has Asperger's or some other form of Autism... almost anti-Asperger's because he's super friendly... but you know within seconds of meeting him that there is some kind of personality disorder at work there.

... and on top of that, I am not certain, but I think he might be into me. Keeps trying to show how he's better than everyone else, and also keeps saying "Crystle is cute--cool", like he made a slip or something. It's kinda creepy.

And of course, the first real friend I've made there is the only gay person I've met since I moved here. I love that he he doesn't even try to hide it at all, despite some of the comments that I hear people make behind his back.

You read my miiiiinnnnnnddd!

The flaw with the ape thing though...if the point was for the idiots to go back to the trees...do we really want them having crazy monkey sex so they can make more? Haha.

Can I ask you something though, Elara? Are you nice to this guy? I've dealt with a similar situation twice in school over the years. The time in grade school though, I beat the shit outta a bunch of people for some kid because the kids were REALLY mean to him. He and I are good friends to this day, actually, but I had to set limits and do my best to get him to understand what our relationship really was. Several times over the years. The sooner you set boundaries, the better.

Sounds like it might be autism. My mom works with people who have different mental disorders as their job coach and many of the austic folks are SUPER friendly. Like when we went to the Special Olympics to watch one of them, he dropped what he was doing and then ran to my mom to hug her, and when she introduced me as her daughter, he grabbed me and started kissing me all over. Nice guy. Since then he brags to the other workers that he knows me personally.

Well, so long as you don't get too friendly back, you should be all right, I guess.

I'm unemployed (well, none of my jobs actually pay regularly), but at least it's by choice, in a sense. With this upcoming trip, it'd be a bitch to ask for time off. Thankfully my parents have stopped pressing the matter.

Well, back to reading Lee's manuscript... and being ridiculously lazy.

I think there was definitely a gay guy all over me at one of the Lowe's I worked at when I was doing that seasonal job over the summer. Nice guy, but he was quite a bit older so that freaked me out more than anything I think.

Maybe it was just autism though as well, heh. He was just that random Lowe's employee I met who NEVER forgot my name or forgot to say hello if we passed by each other. Never got to into my business though so it didn't really bother me.

I don't know if it's because I scheduled ALL of my classes for the same day, or it's because my boss is retarded with scheduling and I have to work more/days that I couldn't originally work.

But FUCK...this is going to be a loooonnnnngggg semester.

Basically have to review EVERYTHING from HS math, because I forget so much and am TOTALLY not prepaed for this math course. I have a professor that doesn't speak english too well and doesn't speak up. I mean I can just remedy that by sitting up front, but...plus side, she is a super sweetheart, but seems fair. So Ima have to work my ass off, but at least I don't "hate" this one.

Gotta read 265 pages worth of shit for Sociology by Friday. And between both History courses, I'm looking at somewhere near a thousand pages...but luckily they're not "due" til Monday.

Oh, and I'm working 12 hours tomorrow. Off on Friday luckily, but another 12 hours on Saturday. So I have to get the majority of my reading in by tonight, and not go to bed tomorrow night into Friday morning, and 'til who knows when....

S'what I get for taking honors shit. The business course, at least, is hybrid. We talk online, but it's mostly a marketing research course, so we only have to meet up like once a month....but still...

**dies**

And today was the first day. XD
