| More happiness!!
My "spring break" (which is actually more like an "autumn break"), which lasts over 2 weeks(!), has been planned!! I get to spend Easter with my boyfriend and his family, which I am thrilled about, since I didn't want to be alone on a holiday. A friend from NYC that I met (gamer chick- awesome), and I are taking a scenic train from the bottom of the north island to Auckland, the top of the north island. We're going to spend a few days there, go to the Bay of Islands (if you haven't heard of that, google image search it!). We're also going to Rotorua, which is a HUGE geothermal site, before heading back down to Palmerston North (my uni town). A few days after we get back, my boyfriend is going to come up and hang out for a couple days before my semester begins again!! I am so excited, you have no idea!!  |

| Sunday is my anniversary, so the Penguins better not fucking lose.
Oh... and happiness is getting one entire final project due and a rough idea of my thesis for the second. Ten days to write this... and really I should do it in less because there is a third. But progress!! |

| Having an awesome weekend going to see some really cool museum exhibits with my parents (it's impossible getting my dad to do these things these days), going to the pirate festival to see my favorite pirate band, watching a Shakespeare play with a plate of cheese, a loaf of fresh bread, and a big bottle of cider, saw a lot of random stuff, and just had fun. | Squee! So, I'm probably sick in the head for being "happy" about this, but hey. :p So, my family and I could never afford good insurance, health, vision, dental, etc...and dental in the state of PA is the pitts anyway. But...I just got some. And the next...well, while, will be eating up my entire paychecks, for the most part on dental work. Got the first of many things done yesterday afterwork.
But...the excruciating pain that has preceded this moment....makes this a VERY good and happy occasion for me.  The last few days were the worst. I hardly EVER take medicine, and I was popping two Alieve Liquigels every 4 hours JUST to get through the work day. Caved and took a vicodin on Thursday night. The actual procedures and discomfort that follows is NOTHING compared to the pain I was in before...
So...call me crazy, but I'm seriously stoked. AND, its all shit that I can get done on a Friday after work, and be healed enough by Monday, so I don't have to miss work. And I don't work in the public anymore, so even if I am still a little sore or swollen, it doesn't matter. So, yay on the not missing work too! |

| I am happy for you, Kat... I totally understand where you are coming from. I had to wait for a year to get my last wisdom tooth pulled and it is totally worth being happy about.
I got my first big compliment from a customer at the new job the other day. It wasn't anything special I did really, just helped her through the process of making digital prints and she was super grateful. I felt rather good about it. |

| Well, happy belated birthday to me.
Got to see a Gutenberg Bible, one of Louis Pasteur's journals, first editions of works by Galileo, Newton, Descartes, Darwin, Mendel, etc. Looked through stereopticons at grisly vintage 3D photos of dead Union and Confederate soldiers. Walked around the Huntington Library's expansive, gorgeous grounds. Afterward went to the oldest tiki bar in L.A. and the regulars kept buying me strong drinks while I geeked with bartender about tiki everything. Also, I had a great time working an anime convention the weekend before last (Brandon and I found three lost children and were given the coveted "Big Damn Hero" ribbon), and I get to work ops at the biggest Doctor Who convention in a month. |

While I am here, thank you to the Pittsburgh Penguins for having an awesome, totally free scrimmage game tonight for the fans. We know that it helps you all get back into game mode before the season starts on Saturday, but after months of no hockey, it was amazing for people to be able to just show up and watch a great game. |

| Heh, "vague Hawaiian theme" covers a lot of them. Your standard tiki bar has bamboo fixtures, Polynesian decorations, and tropical rum-based beverages in whimsical tiki mugs and hollowed out coconuts and pineapples.
Pretty much your romanticized, campy/kitschy Polynesian fantasy bar that really took off in the late 1940s and carrying into the 1960s after the U.S. got all into the exotic South Pacific lifestyle following World War II, with further excitement coming from interest in the Kon-Tiki voyage. The whole fad is why we have things like the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland, Trader Vic's, and so on. I just always thought the Tiki craze was cool, and hence why one of my cats is named "Tiki." |
