Anyone got plans?

I went to a couple yard displays last night in the Valley. One was a maze in someone's backyard and it was freaking awesome. Miles above Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios in every respect. The other was more family-friendly, being in someone's front yard with animatronic skeletons and light and fountain show set to Halloween music.

Brandon's band is performing on Halloween, but then I think we're going to a hit up a friend's party after since I rarely get to see her these days.

We're supposedly doing a carnival at work, but since it's falling on one of the days I have to wear a uniform I don't think I get to dress up. Bummer.

Sadly, I was super serious about finally going to haunted houses this year (I still haven't been), but I'm utterly broke so probably won't be happening.

But one of my friends is having a house warming party with his new house, so that should be awesome.

I think I was just going to wear my lame red cloak that I got for like a $1 ages ago.

My friend is having her annual Halloween party so I will be going to that. This year I am going to be a really half-assed Dalish Inquisitor because I don't have money to pull off a decent costume. I briefly thought about going as Death from Sandman, but since someone else is going as Death (just normal Death), I decided to save it for next year.

My wife and I are going out with another couple to a corn maze/haunted house. It's going to be fun, bu we have no idea what she'll be dressed up as yet.

Me? A sith lord. Black cloak and all. I'm using it again for when Star Wars comes out too.

Halloween party at work went well. I threw together random steampunk and faire garb and my boss guessed I was a time traveler, so I went with that. Had lots of fun dancing with the clients.

My co-workers ended up not even dancing (which was to be expected). The woman who was trying to claim credit for putting it all together didn't even dress up, but still was just as mad that the other woman didn't work on the choreography. All the same, Brandon pumped out a great, edited-down version of "Thriller" in record time, and I appreciate it.

Halloween here was ho hum. My Dalish Inquisitor costume was okay, not great. The party was fun, but really uneventful.

My mom told me today that they didn't have a single trick or treater at the house this year, since they were once again the only house on the block that put the porch light on. My mom loves seeing the costumes and even makes sure to have treats for everyone... no nuts, plain m&ms for little kids that can't handle caramel.... She sounded so sad that I actually started to cry a bit. There are several kids on the block, and they don't even go around their own neighborhood... what has happened to my holiday?

Yeah it really does seem to be a trend and dies off more and more every year. The party I went to, my friends that just got married and got their new place, I imagine they were pretty excited being in their own home and ready for trick or treaters. My friends wife bought a ton of candy. I think they had... 1 trick or treater. Ouch.

I'll admit it was never my favorite holiday as a kid. I'm not sure if it was the asthma kicking in that made me dislike the long walks, or that I don't like that much candy actually, but even then I can still say it's rather depressing to see it dying off as the years go. It's really strange.

On the other hand if you guys care about AVGN at all he always does a lot during October, a movie review a day and things like that, so he still brings the spirit and makes it eventful. lol

Halloween itself was pretty blah for us. Had to sew together a piece of Brandon's costume after we had to run to three different costume shops looking for a red cape and ending up with a crappy black Dracula one for $20.

Bran was the one of the far right:

I also Sharpie'd on his belly.

His band played the Doll Hut again. Stitch and I went to Downtown Disney beforehand to grab a bite while we were in our costumes. Sort of forgot I was showing a lot of cleavage until I kept getting stared at (with harsh glares from various women.)

After the show went to a friend's party. She was already beyond shit-faced, but she really loved the hostess gift I got her. I bought her an apron since she loves them so.

She spent the rest of the party wearing ONLY that apron.

At one point she walked up to me and goes, "Look at this cute apron my best friend just got me!!" and then looked up and laughed and then fell down.

Had more fun the next couple days going out to the apple orchards, picking up some cider, and staring at the fall foliage. Last night celebrated Dia de los Muertos in Olvera Street. I tend to have a lot more fun at Day of the Dead events than I do with Halloween.

Anyway, Mom only got 4 trick-or-treaters this year and she was pretty bummed. I mean, she was so looking forward to giving out all the candy to the happy, little kids.

Same story here too. Feels like every year I just hear about disappointment in regards to someone buying way too much candy.

My roommate was lame and didn't dress up with a costume I brought him from my parents. I was Jesus (looked like a Jedi outfit) with blonde hair with a clown mask and a Jason knife. Yeah... didn't make sense but it was hilarious and no regrets.
