| Anyone else having this problem. I mean it's not so much the fact that I don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, it's just the fact that there are no interesting people that I'd even consider dating around me at the moment. I mean why are people so immature?
Is it that much to ask for a person to be intelligent, have a sense of humor, and capable of good conversation? |

| If you're asking it of a human, then apparently yes.
Well, at least you know that you are not alone in the boat. I've been here for all of 18 days now... though as of today I am not so sure if I'm in the boat anymore or not. I've noticed that the quality of people around here, particularly in the LA-Orange County area has degraded to such a point that it makes you just want to nuke the area and start over. |

Hey at least you guys haven't had it as bad as I have. 24 years being single. I've had female friends in the past (still do today), but none made any further than hanging out a couple times. That's it. It wasn't until back in June of this year that I met my girlfriend. We've been together for over a month now and in just those few months we've both grown to love each other, as in "in love". I was quite lucky to have met her. Had I not gone to the club here on post for whatever reason....
It sucks to be single sometimes. There was a saying I heard once. It goes, "When you're single, all you see are couples. When you're with sombody, all you see are single people". I suppose this is true for some, if not a lot. I'll admit that I was shy. But I grew out of that over time. However, then arose the problem of not knowing what to say to women when talking to them for the first time. I'm not very good when it comes to holding a conversation, even with my own friends and family. So as you can see, I was in a pretty big downfall for the longest time. But hey, honestly, if MY luck can change for the better, than so will yours, Makura. And believe me when I say that my chances were literally 1 in 10,000. |

| I've chosen to be single, and am happy with that decision. However much I may talk about a guy, I still want to be single. Having a boyfriend or a girlfriend is just too distracting from my studies in college. Certain things come first, and education is one of them. As sad as that may be, I look at guys, even if they are good looking, and I'm like "Why do I need a boyfriend?" To feel accepted and loved? Do you not feel accepted and loved by your friends? One of your guy friends won't give you a hug, or hold you while you cry? I held my best friend last week for 30 minutes while she cried. It was nice holding her, even if she was just a friend. I don't need a lover. I don't need to have sex or someone to say "I love you" to. Friends work just as well as a boyfriend or girlfriend. I told more to my friends than I ever did any of my boyfriends. I just felt more comfortable talking with them than any of them. Call it a trust issue or whatever, I don't care. But that is how it is. | |||

| Friends are one thing. Someone you can be REALLY close to is something
else entirely. Personally I'm sick and tired of being alone. Been alone for most of my life and I hate it. However I'm not interested in dating someone just to avoid being alone. I actually would like to meet someone I could love that would love me and not destroy me. Like I've said in another thread... a love that heals as well as it hurts. |

| I used to date people just because I was terrified of being alone. I've outgrown that now, and I've finally become that whole person that I always pretended to be. Now, my reason for wanting a relationship is for that certain level intimacy and companionship that only a relationship of a romantic nature provides.
I've spent the past 18 days dealing with being single. I haven't been single in years for longer than a week, so this was actually hard. I chose not to dive into another relationship to save me from the loneliness this time though, and I am glad for it. I remembered that it's fine to be single, and that it can be fun. Even though my boyfriend and I are together again, I think that this whole drama of breaking up served a good purpose for me. I had to learn to be fine with being alone, and I had to learn that it was bad to date someone just to fill the void left by someone else. Most people have not learned this... or anything for that matter, and I think that is what makes it hard to find a decent person to date. |

| Yea I'm single to right now but i do have some really good friends that are girls and a few have told me they would love to go out with me but it seems that every time i try to go out with a friend we end up hateing without when it ends. So i live by this saying girlfriends come and go but real friends last forever. | |||

I have never gone out with anybody before and i dont want to say that I dont feel like im not alone. I would rather have friends than having to date somebody because then you have to concentrate everything on that one person. I will only date when the time comes and that time wont be till im out in to the real world. |
