Quoted from Rhapsody database

In their early days, Tangerine Dream were one of the most progressive, avant-garde bands to span the distance between rock and electronic composers like Karlheinz Stockhausen. Much in line with other Krautrock artists of the early '70s, they created a drawn-out, improvised sound that brought droning electronics up against wind instruments and rock instrumentation played like a jazz ensemble. With increasing focus on the growing possibilities of synthesizers, they embarked on a new sound, arranging heavy analog drones into a then-futuristic sound of pure electronics and minimal rhythm. Throughout the '80s and into the '90s, their output became decreasingly academic and progressive, and increasingly Ambient and incidental.

- Jeff K.

I've been listening to this band for a few hours now and I have yet to hear any vocals but their instrumental playing with the synths is amazing. If you're a fan of psychedelic, electronic, krautrock, etc. then definitly check this band out. Think Pink Floyd but without vocals (so far from what I have heard) with a German history and awesome sounds.

Did you check out my Malmsteen downloads in my Metal thread? Reading this, I'd be willing to bet you'd love his work. Maybe more on the heavier side, but all of his solo albums use keyboards, synthezisers, and whatnot ... the main focus is still on his guitaring, but you'd still probably love it. And Rising Force only has two songs on it with vocals, so it's mainly instrumental.

But yeah, I'm a huge fan of synths. Maybe not a great example, but something like the Black Mages. The synth solo's on there were really awesome in my opinion.

So I'll definitely check these guys out.
