today, while trying to set up a desktop monitor on my laptop, i accidentally set it as a secondary monitor, instead of a mirror. I love it. I run itunes on the top, and I can work faster and more efficiently, it is awesome.

In my experience with duel screens, It will only take up one screen and the other screen will become completly black, like it turned off.. or it wont and will stay the same.. *shrugs*

So... How exactly do I go about trying to set up a second screen in this way?

First off how computer literate are you? can you tell what a video card is and things like that?

if so.. here we go. Look at the back of your computer, On your video card there will be either two plug ins for the monitor, some have VGA (the blue plug-in that you plug your monitor into) some have DVI (a longer white plug in, most newer monitors will come with this plug, I know that all newer dell flatpanels will have the option to switch between VGA and DVI) Then you have S-Video (which is a yellow plug that looks like the RCA plug that you plug your video out cable into your TV or VCR)

If you have any two of those, you can pull it off

In order to have 2 displays you either have to have a video card with two outputs,

or you can install a second discrete card.

On my computer, whenever I play games, my 2nd display stays active, I just can't goober with it.

So whatever is there is there.

So I can still see my AIM List to see if any shorties I'm trying to get with sign on and I can stop playin games and run my game there you know how it is.
