I could be working at Best Buy.
I know a handful of people working at the one I'm trying to get a job at. I talked with the hiring manager, and with her talk she made it sound pretty promising. I could be part time in media (videogames, music, and movies). I could be getting a 50 cent pay cut, but I've compared checks with some of my friends and they don't take out nearly as much tax as Jiffy Lube does (Say I get a $400 check, I'll probably end up with around $300). So I don't think it'll hurt. That and its gotten to the point at Jiffy Lube, where I could just careless if I'll be getting paid less. I'm fed up with the place, and the people there. My favorite Assistant (who does everything) is leaving since he finally got his job at Chevy, and several other people there are going back to school. Right now its full of people who think they're holy and can come in late every single day, don't have to clean up, and full of a bunch of new people who don't know how to do anything. Yes, I'm open to new people, but we have a -handful- of new employee's and sometimes it gets very chaotic. I'm thinking of staying there part time and just working weekends only, but if I do get this job at Best Buy I'll be putting it ahead of Jiffy Lube on my priority list. And Best Buy has insane discounts. |

Congratulations on getting that interview for Best Buy, Xeo. It seems like it would be a wonderful place to work at. But I know what you mean about the people and managers of a particular workplace. Where I have been working for the past 3 years, they are bringing more and more managers that don't know what they are doing. All the managers that did know what they were doing went to other stores. I hope you get to keep Best Buy though, Xeo. It would be better than Jiffy Lube. | |||

Originally posted by VGFreak877 Yeah, I just think our store is going to pretty much be done for when my Assistant leaves. He works on average 70 some hours a week (its the only way to get the amount of money he needs). He can do any of our services faster than anyone else at the store. He does all the inventory, all the stocking and ordering, making the schedules. He's really like our General Manager, but at the same time ... he isn't. Our General Manager has gotten so lazy. I used to like him, but after most of us learning that he takes money out of the drawer for himself, and doesn't do crap around the place, I just have no respect for him anymore. He's also hardly on time, he'll come in an hour or two after he said he'd be there. And there's been Sunday's where I've been sitting at the store, waiting for him to be there to open the store up. Its just kind of pathetic. And then he promoted one of our laziest employee's to Assistant, who's the same age as me, but hardly does anything. And he's bossy, bossy to the point with things that aren't needed. Like calling me to start up a car on the other side of the shop and he can't because he's "dirty". Its just gotten old. And the company itself is changing a lot since we have a new District Manager who has no idea what he's doing. Things just seemed a lot smoother with our other DM ... |

That sounds great, Xeo. I have the chance to work at a Target by my new place once school starts.
Discounts are insanely awesome. My uncle works there. |

Well yesterday's interview went great. Then had one today with the GM, and that went well too. Looks like I'll be doing Merchandising. Putting up new posters, signs, changing prices, and mainly stocking. Early hours, but its nice to hear I won't be interacting with customers as much as others (since thats all I do at Jiffy Lube, I got sick of it).
So yeah, basically I got the job. Peed in a cup today too. |

Originally posted by Makura my first job was at a target. minimum wage... $6.75. people getting fired almost daily... ahhh, that's the life of target 10% off for working there but anyways, i dunno, i guess i had a crappy target, cause my friend, who was straight outta HS, got paid about $8.50 and had zero experience. he said the extra dollar was cause he worked the night shift. i worked from 4pm-midnight. I work at Starbucks... get paid $7.50 an hour plus another $2 average an hour in tips in the summer time, over $3 an hour in tips in winter time... and I get 30% discount at my store on everything
Glad you got a job at best buy, I have friends who work there and love it. ^-^ |
