So, since some of you guys are FINALLY out of high school and some of you are heading for post-secondary education what are your plans?

Yeah, I'm sure there's already a thread for future plans from earlier this summer, but things do change. Also I wanted to know what you guys were planning on taking this year.

Since I'm continuing on at Long Beach City despite already qualifying for my Associate's, I'm still waiting on applying for universities and the journalism program keeps hanging on to me. Well... the magazine anyway.

So my classes this year:
  • Environmental Problems of Man (biology class) -- might need to drop this to make the magazine staff meetings everyday
  • Wildlife biology -- what I'm replacing the other bio class with once I drop it. Already enrolled, just gotta drop the other one.
  • English 3: Argumentative & Critical writing
  • History of Early America
  • Intro to Non-Western Philosophy -- I'm happy about this one since it's with a professor that I really like on a subject that I have a lot of interest in.
  • "City Magazine" staff

I'm actually really excited about going back to school. Anyone else know what they're doing?

Not done with high school yet and I'm going to be a junior. My schedule is something like this if I remember correctly.

    A Day
    1. Hardware/Software Repair
    2. Advanced Placement English 11
    3. C++ (unofficially Advanced Placement)
    4. Gym/Studyhall

    B Day
    5. Study Hall
    6. Chemistry (college level)
    7. Pre-calc (college level)
    8. Advanced Placement US History
    Logos

    Again?

Going into senior year in high school, and it should be something around the lines of:

    Advanced Placement English Literature
    Advanced Placement Physics B
    Advanced Placement Japanese Language
    Advanced Placement Economics (one semester)
Advanced Placement American Government (one semester)
    Advanced Placement Calculus AB
Orchestra(Hoping to change to Advanced Placement Psychology)

But knowing my school, they'll probably massacre my schedule.

  • Ah, taking a class with Claudia I see? That was a fun class, but I had to drop it because I fell behind (don't work with anyone on papers though... if it is even remotely the same she marks you down).

I'm taking a basic class for intro to History majors... can't remember the name at the moment.

I'm just taking general ed classes at the local college here in town...

English 1A- basically tested into the highest English the school offers, other than 1B.
    Intermediate Algebra
    The Earth Sciences

A full 12 hours a week, on top of two jobs, a wedding to plan and remodeling the house, among other things...I don't know if I'll be around this fall much

I enrolled, way to late for school. To be quite honest. I didn't get all the classes I got and wanted. So, this Semester should be a blow off for me.

    All I'm taking:
    - Intro to Algebra. Well, I blew through up to Algebra III / Trig in High School, but from what everyone has told me College math is just different. This is what I tested into ... (I did however, notice I took 12 minutes on the placement test. I guess I should try to care more next time).
    - Intro to Humanities. No idea what to expect here.
    - Public Speaking. Really, I don't want to take such a class, hopefully this will be the -only- speaking class I take in my life. I did a speech about my Animation Endoresment in front of maybe 100 people one time, and did much better than many others who thought they were prepared, but I honestly get so nervous in front of classes sometimes I choke up and everything. My mom told me this class is needed ... she better be damn right.

That's ... it. But, I could be working 2 jobs for awhile here, so I don't need a huge schedule anyways.

I did test right into Comp 1. And passed the Reading test to the point, I don't need to take a pointless Reading class. I'll probably take Comp 1 and hopefully College Algebra next Semester.

C'hyah...I hear ya on that...Heh...couldn't help but post in such a thread after vanishing from the board for a bit. This is just what's been keeping me. One of them...been going down to school and bitching a lot. I got screwed as well. I have all evening classes...had to actually take the test, and the admissions department did nothing but give me an attitude...'cept for my personal councilor. He turned out to bea sweetheart. Anywho...yeah...

English 101, Economics, and Public Speaking are three mandatory courses for me. I'm still aiming to be a director...or at least something in the film industry/entertainment business...so...I can understand the economics.

However, public speaking...I dunno...I decided that I'm going to go into the class without making assumptions until I actually attend the thing. Otherwise, I'd think it was a waste of my time...y'all can ask Xeios if you'd like...I'm odd...shy when it comes to personal things, having one on one conversations, just normal, everyday life...but once I get in front of a crowd of people, I can give a speech, run an assembly...**shrugs** Not shy about that at all...I actually like it...so...I'm hoping that I'll like the course.

If only you guys lived in Long Beach, I could take you all under my wing when it comes to registration and college bullshit. I've learned how to get around some things and respectably kick and scream 'til I get others.

Seriously though. When it comes to registration, anything and EVERYTHING can go wrong. At LBCC the computer system is ridiculous. You have to figure out how to get around the people who go by it no matter what classes it claims you're in and not.

Oh, you guys still need to go through the joys of petitioning classes.

Well, I gotta go pay for my classes today, so I won't be back 'til much later.

They call them crashing classes over here XD

I have an older sister and a couple friends who already go to the community college I'm going to... so they taught me well... so I got all the classes I wanted, in decent times so that my work schedule wouldn't be screwed up.

Though I don't condone these things, they are pretty useful.

    Rate My Professor

You might think all college classes are the same, but most of the time a professor can make or break what you think about a topic. Hell, my chemistry teacher in high school made me change my college major plans from science to liberal arts.

I've had some really bad teachers and some great ones. These things are often pretty accurate on what people think of their teachers, but take it with a grain of salt.

Seriously, if I find out Public Speaking isn't needed, I'm withdrawing from it.

Rogue, that's pretty much what my mom says also, about professors. Well, yeah my mom goes to college too now. She's going back for her pshycology degree, and the scary thing is we're going to the same school. Luckily we go different days.

And that was easily the case for my stance on High School also. Biology, just sucked. Our teacher was new, and she really got on our nerves. A year later I take Chemistry, and although I wasn't too great at the class, our teacher rocked. Some days he'd put on Boston (the band) and such while we did homework, and we watched Mythbusters weekly pretty much, and he really knew what he was talking about.

Same goes for other courses. English II for my Sophomore class just sucked because of my teacher and how strict she graded. Then last year, I had a football coach for College Prep English IV. Yeah yeah, he was a goof ball, but he still taught us some great stuff, and he made it one of my favorite classes, even though I've always hated English.

I'm worried now, actually. I need to fill the math requirement next semester and I'm hoping I test well on the next assessments.

I can't find my past results and I think it placed me in like math 130 or something. I'm not sure. I took the easiest test they were offering and did all right on it, but from what I hear if you take the hardest test and do mediocre at it, you get placed in the higher classes.

I'm hoping that I get it done next semester. Anyone who's transferred over to the CSUs have any advice?

Though I lack in the advice department, I really hope everything works out for you Rogue. I might lack advice, but being worried about college, as well as many other people as well, I know what the worry is and stuff...made me so sick I ended up with fevers and throwing up a lot. **huggles**

Why yes this is a huge bump, but my post is relevant and also better than starting a new thread.

So it's the winter semester, what are you taking now?

    My classes:
    - College Algebra (the last class I need to transfer out)
    - City Magazine staff class

Just need to fill out the paperwork and I should be out.

Since my dad's been sick lately, my mom's been turning her attentions to living it up more. Will probably spend some time in Europe in August once I'm done with LBCC.

**twitches at the words "Bio lab"**

I only have four classes this semester, but if all continues to go well, I'll still have two jobs, so....

    English 102
    Creative Writing
    Film
    Japanese 102

The English is mandatory...Creative Writing is a pre-requisite to this Script Writing course I'm going to take. My film course is just something general. We're pretty much just watching movies and discussing various components of them, touching all sorts of areas, editing, special effects, the way it was written, the way it was done. We meet once a week, but it's a three hour class. Only had it once so far, but I LOVE it. Japanese 102 is the second part of beginners Japanese.

As many people who know me well enough can already tell, I want to become a director. (I've also already mentioned that in this thread I think...:p) So yeah, that explains all of the film courses. I'm going to finish up my assiciates degree here at this community college and then just transfer to this other school, which has a fucking OUTSTANDING film program. Even better than the school that I originally intended on attending.

The Japanese...I'm taking it for a number of reasons. It's fun. I LOVE the culture and the language is one of the most beautiful languages that I have ever heard. That and I'd like to be a translator if everything else falls through. After looking into is, I found that Japanese-English translators and English-Japanese translators are in pretty high demand (Yes there's a difference between where you put the name of each language. XD)

So that about covers the listing of classes and future plans part. :p

I also have an internship with a local director this April and it should last until like mid summer? Sometime in July. Nothing big, but hey, it's my first shot at something like this.

Only going part time to class this time and taking too classes, both counting towards my major of Psychology

    - Psy 359 Self-Observation and Self Development - not really a class I want to take, but it fill the requirements

    - Psy 401 History of Psychology - Really interested in this class. Till now I've been learning all about the theories of Psychology, but now I get to see how it all started.
