I think Rare wanted to make kids cry with that one. Anyone here ever play the arcade one? It actually had blood and was more violent, the toads arms and legs would turn into razors, drills, and whatnot. Hilariously awesome.

Yay, second anime I've finished on my own!

ANN page. It's from the makers of Lain and some other reknown series. I'm not a fan of Lain, but I've heard those who are really enjoyed this show too. Because of this, you can surely expect this to be quite a weird anime. It's extremely dark and mature. The ending is an utmost tragedy and having finished it just last night, I'm still not sure if I liked the ending or not. It was incredibly dark and somewhat depressing. But it was still an interesting watch and entertaining. The visuals are very top notch with a lot of special effects. There's quite a bit of action that's pretty gruesome and the music is awesome. Though because of it's themes and whatnot, the visuals are usually a darker tone, grey, browns, and whatnot. Don't expect any vibrant colors here. I'll admit I went in to watch this show because I saw a review of it up at cyberpunkreview.com, I was expecting some cool cyberpunk sci-fi stuff. Though, it's honestly more of a post-modern world in a dysotopian setting. Regardless it was interesting enough to keep watching. However it does require a bit of time. If you're someone who judges an anime right away with the first few episodes, you might not like it. I kept on watching the first few simply because I had nothing else to say than "what the hell?". But, the patience did pay off as the show and characters really developed. Overall, if you want something very violent, dark, and chaotic, check this one out. Don't expect to be left a happy camper though. Edit: Oh and I do not recommend the dubbed version at all. The English voices completely ruin some of the characters. After watching this, I feel like I shoud look into Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann or something a little easier on the mind. (Last edited by Dergoex on 02-22-08 09:47 PM)

I've been lazy about this because I still can't access xeogaming.net. Still using evogaming.netho.tk where images and crap is broken, I can't follow some links, etc, I don't know why but it makes me lazy about doing things on the board.

Hmm, I'm honestly not caring for this anime so far. I'm on episode 5 and I keep feeling like I'm forcing myself to continue watching it. This show is just hyped beyond belief, so I was really going into it with high expectations I guess ...

Basically, when I want a comedy, I want a comedy. When I want a serious anime, I want a serious anime. This anime so far, feels like two completely different anime's wrongly jumbled up into one. You've got this cute "Nyu!" crap here and there, then limbs flying off and ripping apart on the other side. Bleh? Well, the anime forum needs more activety. So yell at my thoughts so far if you will.

Revy. Badass. 
Really killtacular anime so far. I'm on episode 17 and it's been pretty good, though I read some reviews recently that state "overall" it ends up being a little disappointing. Apparently the characters don't get a lot of needed development towards the end and it doesn't really conclude, kind of sad. Either way, this doesn't seem like an anime to take "super seriously". The action is extremely over the top but it's fun to watch because of the insanely good art and animation. The characters are great and the humor is often pretty hilarious (lots of racism too). The anime gets compared to the likes of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Gungrave, etc and rightfully so. It's not episodic based, but has some small arc's here and there spread out between the anime, like little "missions" I guess. All in all, it seems like a pretty good action anime that's just fun and enjoyable.

Yeah. I've really been desensitized with violence thanks to the media, movies, anime and whatnot. While the intense gore and blood here doesn't 'really' bother me or make me cringe, I can still say it's pretty damn over the top and people aren't going to like it. Considering it's art style and character designs, I think it's just too much, which kind of goes in with my arguement in the first post. It's like two anime's in one. Just a warning I guess, don't get attached to the characters here no matter how "cute" they may look. |
