Originally posted by Rogue Well on one hand, if we're talking anime-wise ... it's pretty easy to say Miyazaki's movies get dubbed dramatically better than most anime out there. A definite plus I'd say, but yeah. Anyways, haven't seen it yet myself though my friend saw it yesterday and said it was pretty good. He noted that the characters were kind of "just there" or something though, and didn't get fleshed out enough. I dunno though. Anyways speaking of Miyazaki, I don't know if you guys have ever heard of this one, but he apparently directed a full series in the 70's: Future Boy Conan. The premise sounds pretty awesome. I've got it all downloaded (can find it at bakabt), and I'm pretty stoked about it. A series directed by him... that's just gotta be epic. Edit: Just noticed it looks like Tomino had a big hand in the series too (father of Gundam, among other things). (Last edited by Xeu on 08-19-09 06:20 PM) (restricted) |

I don't really keep up with graphics cards, but I'm going to assume that's quite a deal? Heh.

Was it just a special or is that the normal price? Whenever I get around to building a computer, I'm definitely going to make sure it's got like a quad core, ~10GB DDR, and some other crazy stuff so it'll last. And it'll just be nice making a big jump from this laptop...

This thing can actually run Half-Life 2 very well and I managed to play Supreme Commander on it with decent settings, but it's biting the dust now. I tried the Crysis beta out a long time ago and it was hilarious... like I was playing a 3D SNES game or something (zero textures). So anyways, you seem to know computers... everyone always says it's best to just custom build one off newegg instead of going with a package, is that the route you take? Which companies do you like either way? I've liked this Dell laptop, I've definitely run into a few issues at times but it's always been pretty easy updating drivers/reformatting etc. I really do want to build a computer or get one sometime this year. I'm not even a huge PC gamer, but I just want something that will never give me slowdown! I tend to hear if you base your PC around running Crysis really well, it's going to be good. Haha.

They had their peak a few years back, but nobody seems to really care anymore. Some of the staff know this, but I honestly don't blame the people who could careless about AB's now... at a software glance, these boards are terrible. A simple testament to that is just looking back at all the restarts and junk we've had to go through. I still have to heavily thank DarkSlaya for tightening this place up a lot though and working on it. But yeah, simply put if I started up Xeogaming in 08'-09'... I would more than likely have gone with some other more professional system like phpBB3 or something. That's not to say I regret it. I am definitely proud to have us, one of the last standing AB's still around and we keep chugging along. Vizzed found their drug, now we need one. Something to pull others in... Fuck computers.
|
Fuck cars. You are both so awesome. And oh so annoying. I mean, I just spent like ~$500 fixing up my car and junk. Today it started magically overheating again after all this crap I've done to it this year... so I spent a good several hours working on that and replacing a hose. After 8 hours of work of course. On a Monday. When I was very excited to get home and do other things. FUCK YOUH!!!!!!!

Yeah, I actually put in new ram on this laptop myself a few months ago. Scariest thing I've ever done in my life by the way, mainly because they only have one of the slots on the bottom, while the other is UNDER THE KEYBOARD! It felt so fragile popping out the keyboard and everything, haha.
|
Went from 1GB to 3.5GB (technically I put in 4GB, but I ended up seeing issues about the hardware for this laptop not allowing it to use the full 4GB, horrible). Buuut, I didn't really notice a difference after awhile. Probably goes to show how dated this thing is becoming.

Don't do it.

Unless you like repairing Windows or basically reformatting. Apparently it's a pretty huge issue after I googled around when I had the issue (twice, had to reformat twice! Luckily found out this was the cause the second time...) I don't know what it does exactly but it just literally breaks key Windows files. You'll get errors when you login, you'll often get the blue screen, etc, and you won't be able to delete the ghost drive it creates. On top of this the install/uninstall files have issues too. Once DTP is on the system you can't get rid of it. Just a warning!

I'm a full time drone currently working at Prescription Solutions, packing your medications.

Also I started working out this week... I hope I can keep at it. I'm actually mostly interested in doing this to see if it helps improve my sleeping habits. The last few months have been pretty terrible, so I'm hoping getting some physical activity in here and there will help my body shutdown at night when it needs to. Kind of ironic how this works for a lot of people. I'm having an onslaught of car problems too and I just poured ~$500 into it already a month ago or something. Ever since I hit that cylinder block (or something!?) in Feb. it's been having tons of issues. More recently it keeps overheating... or the thermostat is messed up because the radiator is new this year, it's not leaking, and I've replaced both hoses. The awesome news is since it's a foreign car (Acura) a simple thermostat will go for about $40 for the cheap ones! And there's no way I'd want to replace it myself, so add in some labor there. I need new tires all around and ealjkgdlaskdsahgds.

Kind of curious to see what you guys like, if Firefox is still King, etc.
|
I've actually grown to like Opera quite a bit lately. It runs a lot faster than Firefox for me and I just like the look of it a little more, looks slicker. Still haven't tried out Google Chrome myself, I've heard mixed things about it.

Yeah, I honestly think I liked it more when it was v2. Ever since v3 was released that's when the browser mysteriously seemed to get slower, even after reformats and 100% clean installs, Opera is way faster over here.
|
I still like all the plugins and customization though. But yeah, hopefully the browser doesn't continue to fall down that route and just continues to get more and more pointless junk.

(I mean come on Seijika, you're nuts with the BL... ) I'll restart us off with a huge word of warning, if anyone was interested in the new FEAR 2 single player DLC (Reborn), just know that you can finish it a little over an hour. An easy one sitting. Yeah. :| Been all over Castlevania again myself though. I finally got around to Order of Ecclesia and loved it, I think I'd say that's my favorite DS CV so far. I also finally discovered that I in fact never finished Circle of the Moon for some reason, even though I always remembered I enjoyed it and recommended it to others pretty often. So I started that up again today, already almost caught up to where I ended last time ... lol (~68%). Also got Lament of Innocence. Been wanting to give the PS2 CV's a try even if they do seem to get a lot of slack. I enjoyed the N64 ones back in the day, so I figured what the heck? Gotta check them out for myself. So far I actually like it a lot, the only problem I'm having is getting used to a fixed camera again, it's been awhile! Also got Xenosaga III via Gamefly, dunno when I'll dive into that though. Chances of me finishing any JRPG thesedays is pretty much next to -9000. (Last edited by Xeu on 09-06-09 01:50 AM)

The demo was epic as hell and I've only been hearing good things about it, media/review wise. It's in my Gamefly queue so hopefully I get it soon!

Love how they got all the voice actors from the 90's animated series.
