Yeah dude, sensitivity has been around since forever in most good [on a technical level] console FPS's.
I keep raising the sensitivity on both the PC and consoles though, lately I've even had to max it out on some FPS's on consoles, PC is always going to have more limits there. I've got Reach set to 8/10 right now and could probably go higher, lol. LA: Yeah, the OST is incredible, very consistently somber and awesome. At first I was a little skeptical for awhile, but it all grew on me. It's certainly a good bit different than the other games but it works for Reach really well. And well, you can still tell it's Marty with the heavy bass/drum use here and there, haha. I definitely didn't get a sense of "Hollywood-ized" music syndrome here, like a lot of modern games nowadays. This is definitely an OST I'm getting. (Last edited by Xeus on 09-20-10 01:06 AM) |

Anyone keeping up with this one? New TGS trailer is pretty insane. I am both skeptical and very optimistic right now. The art design and everything in the game looks incredible, the city blows me away. On the other hand the Christian Bale Batman voice acting is a bit much and I hope the cutscenes aren't too over the top with slow-mo and all that, it'll just be cheesy. Other than that though, I think this one is being a little better at remembering what the original game was all about, unlike Invisible War! (which I still really enjoyed to be honest, but definitely wasn't without its flaws). Also I hope they do something about the takedown attacks... I saw that leaked 20 minute gameplay footage awhile back (there's some official videos now broken up into parts), and it just makes the game look ridiculously easy. |

And that's my biggest concern. I'd venture to say the original is still my favorite story I've ever encountered in a video game, such an engrossing and detailed world that sucks me in, it's crazy. I replayed it this summer for like the 5th time and (sadly?) it was like the best gaming experience I've had in years.
And yeah funny thing is that game is pretty clunky here and there with the gameplay, not to mention the AI is just wow... but the story/atmosphere are so good it doesn't even matter! Hopefully HR finds some balance, but in the end yeah when I think of Deus Ex I'd rather get an incredibly compelling story here than perfect gameplay. There's rumors the EchelonIV system might pop up in this or something, the precursor intelligence / AI to Daedalus and everything. I don't recall Invisible War having AI's even though it was 20 years in the future, that is a big NONO! (Last edited by Xeus on 09-20-10 01:30 AM) |

I saw Hot Potato... haven't played it though, what is it?
Also I just wrapped up the original Halo again, a major nostalgia bomb for me. I've beaten that game way too many times. Now, I'm moving unto Halo 2! Which I literally think I've only finished twice. Really digging it so far, despite always having a sour taste for the game... overall I think my main beef with where Bungie messed up, is trying to split the Covenant and focused too much on them in 2-3. There was already a galactic war between the humans, Covenant, and the Flood, they didn't need to break it up anymore than that. They did, and suddenly the Elites, the most ruthless, cunning, and largest faction of the Covenant is somehow instantly faded out and they decide to buddy up with the humans right away! I also remember some of the stuff with the Overmind (was that its name?) was a little inconsisntently messy between the two games. But we'll see, I definitely plan on hitting up Halo 3 afterwards as well, it's been awhile on that one too. The multiple Halo thing kind of cheapens the experience too... in a way. Regardless, it seems safe to say it's been an amazing series all around and the games are still very fun regardless of the convoluted story junk here and there. I can't really recommend ODST though LA, I dunno about you (if you've ever played it before) but that one really bored me to tears, lol. Worth one play through for me I guess, but the most excitement I got out of it was just simply seeing the Engineers later in the game since I knew about them from the books (and they're in Reach!). All in all, 2-3 are very solid, and Reach-1 are probably my favorites. |

Originally posted by Byte Niiiice, I might have to do this a bit. Haven't played for a few days now but I got the blue visor! Halo CE (as in Custom Edition) rocked! Did you ever play some of the popular maps like New Mombasa Classic? Those and some of the Gearbox maps were better than anything Bungie ever made, lol. Hopefully some people can end up recreating some of the PC classics in Forge. Yeah so now I'm a few levels in Halo 2. It's been fun, but there are definitely noticeable changes and lack of polish here and there. Elites are pretty damn easy (less you're playing Legendary and trying to take on those jetpack Elites or something), and a lot of guns are worthless now like the Needler, Plasma Pistol, etc. I'm trying not to duel wield much since I just don't care for it. Battle Rifle is fun stuff but I definitely miss the AR and the GOOD pistol. Other than that, there's been some weird places in the game where I feel like I'm stuck, but I just have to keep fighting numerous waves of enemies for what feels like way too long. Some of these parts just feel odd and anticlimatic, I dunno. The pacing seems off at times. I'm also already bored of the Arbiter and his junk, lol. Also despite some of the graphical updates, the game looks dirtier and not in a pleasant way. The graphics just look very washy at times and not very solid, if that makes sense (thinking of the characters mostly here). |

Looks like MS wants to follow suit with Guitar Hero, CoD, etc, in "speeding up the releases" from here on.
RIP Halo. |

Pot has ruined a handful of my friendships over the last few years, so I'm not a fan. Do it all you want but if you can't go a day without it for years then I'm moving on, not to mention how irritated they get when they're not high now (it's gotten hilariously easy for me to tell when just about anyone does anything now, people I know or don't), and some friends deal for money now. Who knows what'll happen from here on, not my problem.

The trick to fighting Elite's that worked flawlessly in the original works again in this one: Charged plasma pistol shot to take out shields, then headshot them with something for a quick kill.
I'm a few levels into solo Legendary now, it definitely seems doable. The Hunters are gonna be pretty damn ruthless though, so far I've fought them twice. The worst part so far is the friendly AI, especially when you're driving vehicles. You have two options: A) have a horrible gunner, B) or if you'd rather be gunner, have a horrible driver. Even ghosts can wipe you out almost instantly, so it's been very annoying so far. |

Yeah, honestly I know I myself and others would maybe laugh a bit if Bungie turns around to create another FPS series after this (since they're gonna be with Activision for the next 10 years, yikes). But if they did go back to the Marathon universe (more "officially" than Halo) I think that'd be incredibly awesome. If I remember right Bungie still retains all creative rights and all for the Marathon name, but I'm not sure.
I guess I didn't update my Halo marathon fun above either... but I got through Halo 2 early yesterday. I hate to say it but it just became a drag after awhile. The story was pretty all over the place, with MC and Arbiter teleporting around later on, etc, and yeah. I just can't really get into the Arbiter stuff, I even forgot you play as him in the last level. The weirdest thing about the game to me is that it felt like it wasn't even the same engine as the other games. The hit detection on the enemies felt very off pretty often, many of the guns just straight up sucked, the graphics were so muddy and not "solid" like the first game... etc, it was just really weird. Worth revisiting but now I remember why I only beat it twice before. EDIT: And Halo 2 should be a testament as to why MS should NOT rush out Halo games. If I remember right and my friend has the same story too, Bungie wanted to get a few more levels in and needed more time but MS wanted the game finished by the holiday season. The lack of polish certainly shows. So in a way I do feel like I can blame MS more on about Halo 2's faults with me. Then I blasted through Halo 3 up to the third to last level in what felt like an hour, lol. It's definitely an improvement over Halo 2, but I feel like even that one hasn't aged too well with me here and there. The storyline/dialogue and all that feels really campy, the Elites look pretty stupid too. At least the gameplay feels like "Halo" with the rest of the games though, unlike 2! And the Forerunner architecture is glorious to look at. I just love huge FPS's like this (and the original Unreal! Play that one if you guys haven't, I wouldn't be surprised if Bungie pulled a lot of influences from it for the original Halo). But yeah, I think running through all these back to back, the original and Reach are definitely my favorites. Not just because Reach is the newest or anything, but it really does feel a lot like the original game more than the others to me. It feels solid and "just right". Well just thought I'd update everyone here, I recently found out I have a hernia in the groin area. It's definitely pretty sucky, I imagine I've maybe had it for a long time but I got really physically active 1-2 months ago and probably stressed it a lot. Now I'm forced to be lazy again, and I've heard from a friend who just had this surgery done he was on the bench for a month. That sucks.
The worst bit is since I'm still jobless I don't have insurance and my family barely gets by as it is thesedays, but I think my grandma/uncle might help us out a bit. The Doctor did recommend I get this done right away and over the last few weeks, it is getting more and more uncomfortable as they go by. A great time to be sick and having insane allergies too... sometimes coughing and sneezing hurts now. I'm not terribly excited about the surgery itself, but it needs to be done. I just hate how it's 4 days before my birthday, so probably not doing anything this year until mid October or whatever lol. I figure I'll worry about getting a job after I've recovered and that definitely has to happen, I'm just gonna have to take whatever I can get at this point. |

It's KU Med which I've been too before for another thing and they did a payment plan, I think they're definitely the place that'll work with you through these things. I imagine we'll try to get a lot paid up front and then I'll have a bill for awhile.
Yeah it's a little annoying since I've been trying to get a job recently, but when this popped up 1-2 weeks ago I feel like I should just hold off until mid October, that's probably the earliest I'd be available anyways. As you said though, yeah this makes scheduling for this a bit easier, I'll just miss a little school. I did talk to a manager at Costco and said they start seasonal hiring that month, and they keep people if they do good... kind of crossing my fingers for that! |

Interestingly enough it's just us guys in this thread so far that have this stuff... haha. Well I guess women have their deals too! But yeah it sounds like it's more common for men to get this stuff.
Yasu: Yeah luckily there's a bathroom right outside my room, but yeah... stairs. I'm hearing people say that could be an issue, my mom said she'll probably take the first day off though to help get me food or whatever. Bitmap: Well the only two jobs I've had so far were pretty physical. I remember back in my Jiffy Lube days there were times when we had to stock boxes of oil, carrying them downstairs and all. I remember carrying three at a time, more than others, which was probably stupid! And at my last job at a warehouse I remember doing some heavy lifting with boxes of ice and stuff. I am pretty curious to know if they'll be able to tell how long I've had the hernia? I dunno, in the research I've done though it sounds like you can have them for months or even years without noticing. But I got really physically active again about two months ago and probably went way too over the top with the weights, so that's when it popped up. I just don't know if it'd pop out so quickly after just two months, so I wonder if I've had it for awhile. Honestly I wonder if it's caused some bowel complications... and I do feel like I get bloated pretty easily, and "gassy" sometimes where I can just feel it sitting in my lower stomach. I have a feeling I shouldn't feel like that too often, so I'm kind of hoping this might fix that stuff too. But I guess it's maybe possible I have ulcers again, I dunno. I had some in the past. All in all I really am tired of this shit, lol. I am definitely finding out within these last few years what it's like to not be a teenager anymore. Gotta work to keep healthy now. So I'm doing what I can to change up my diet, been really good about drinking water this year, and hopefully when I recover from this surgery I'm gonna start being consistent about hitting up the gym and whatnot again (taking it slower this time!...) |

Man I'm all for prequels and such put PUT THEM ON THE DAMN SYSTEMS!
I kind of agree about MGS4 though. It was definitely an incredible experience and I don't want to jump on the "It's a movie" bandwagon, but yeah. The previous games were a little more fun all around, but MGS4 is essential when you work your way up to it. Epic stuff, just not something you'll want to revisit over and over lol. The MGS universe is insane though, definitely has lots of room for potential now. On the other hand though I was kind of disappointed to hear the directors of MGS: Rising say that it won't involve any of the characters from the other games, which kind of sucks. I'd guess maybe Rose would be in it though. |
