Reportedly, many customers at Dollar General have told the store manager how much they like me, because I know what I'm doing and I'm generally quite friendly.

(Shocking, I know.)

Some have also said that they were worried that I quit (always "quit", never "got fired") when they don't see me there for a few days.

So, yeah, some minor gratitude here and there. Nothing that gets me free soup, but eh. I'm just doing my job... and constantly making jokes about it. Professional, not so much, but (almost) no one complains about that.


Elara: That's basically how Crystal Caverns, one town over, was run when my stepfather was there. Where all the other caves in the area stuck to a scripted tour, he improvised a new one for every group. Ended up getting a lot of tips for it, too, including a $20 tip from just a tour of two people. In fact, this may be why I pay so much attention to individual customers and so little to company policy.

(or it could be because I think the people who make the company policy are morons that've likely never worked a day in their lives. One or the other, or both.)

The best comparison I can come up with is the loot from Anchorage in Fallout 3 - once you get it, 80% of the game is clear. He'll kill anything you point him at, and a good bit of what you can't see. The only issue I have with him is that he's prone to going off on his own and killing shit without me knowing.

He cleared out half of a bandit-infested vault solo. With no stimpacks, ordinary Reinforced Metal Armor, and his default hunting rifle and machete.

His perk also helps a lot with nighttime sniping.

Aren't you friend with the Brotherhood? Their power armor is the business!


I stupidly skipped the rest of their missions and went to the final battle... before getting power armor training.

Hell, Boone can't even use it because the only faction armor he'll use is NCR.

So I basically have to hope for the best and keep my lever-action shotgun and scoped hunting rifle pointed in the right direction.

Haven't actually played lately

I was like that at first.

But since I'm not in as much of a direct combat build, I grew to appreciate his asskicking pretty quickly. That and it was hilarious. 95% of the gunshots I heard were Boone killing shit. Most enemies didn't have a chance to even shoot at me.

Water's a bit of an annoyance, in my experience, but I've never liked buying dirty water, and Purified is still pretty uncommon - not as rare as in Fallout 3 though.

Sleep, though, is hilarious. You can go entire weeks without sleeping, as long as you use Atomic Cocktails or similar to keep yourself going.

But stimpacks... ugh. Murder on my current build in the battle at the Hoover Damn.

Note that I haven't played in a longass time though.

Yeah, that will get us back on track. Strip the rights of 40% of the idiots to vote so the rich have a proportionally larger voice than the one their money already gives them.

I've neglected Medicine and can never find RadAway when I actually want it.

Really should've put one more point into Strength.

As for Survival... the boosted health recovery from food is theoretically nice, but I've never really gotten a lot of use out of it. And campfires aren't nearly common enough in my experience. At least the other crafting locations are in places you're practically guaranteed to be. Repair, Sneak, and your ranged weapon of choice seem far more useful to me.

I'll have to play around with it more on another character to really decide.

As a general rule, I don't think physical punishments should be necessary. If they're needed more than once in a very rare while, odds are you've been doing something wrong.

But they shouldn't be a complete non-option either. I think too many people are too extreme on this, there's a lot that think spanking is needed for everything and a lot that think it should never be used. The goal, as I see it, should be to make your child respect your authority enough to not need to be hit every single time they do something wrong. Go too far and the child will fear and resent you... a difference that is lost on too many people.


I haven't raised any kids, but I work in retail and have babysat in the past. Including for two of the worst-behaved kids I've ever seen... which were hit regularly. I barely needed to even raise my voice and they'd listen to me, but their parents? Heh. Haha. AHAHAHAHAHAHno. Not a word. It's not the catch-all solution a lot of people would claim.

Yay. More Elder Scrolls.

I'm hoping for more in the Morrowind direction than the Oblivion one, though. The culture and architecture seemed just different enough to stay interesting in Morrowind, while Oblivion was... well... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't in any way distinct either.

And ditch the Oblivion style auto-scaling, for fuck's sakes. Morrowind scaled just right - common thieves were always common thieves, daedric ruins were always a dangerous prospect, but there was enough variation to keep things interesting.

And the skills only mattering in increments of 25 BS really should go, too.

Oblivion did a few things right, though. Combat was better, stealth was better, and magic wasn't horribly gimped.

(Actually, I'd really like if they ditched the entire levelling system, replacing it with something akin to Galsiah's Character Development, but I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.)

The banner of the second one is clearly superior, in that it's clearer and actually relevant to what the site is for. In the first one, the word "Quest" is almost impossible for me to read, being largely dark green on dark blue, and the background picture has nothing to do with bookkeeping or tax preparation.

The layout of the second site also looks cleaner, in part because of using a less ugly shade of grey on the left bar and in part because there's some space between each button.

I'm of the opinion that the parchment scroll graphic is ugly in both, however.

That would probably explain why it's smaller on the second one, then.

Its placement in the sidebar is also a better choice than putting it on the right and shoving the text around it, so yeah. Second design's better.
