I drink a liter of Pepsi every other day, been doing that for 10+ years, my answer is Pepsi, I like it's taste more than Coke. It's a little sweeter and when it loses it's fizz it tastes awesome, something Coke doesn't do for me. |

In order of preference:
|
1)The Legend of Zelda (NES)- the classic is still enjoyable even today. 2) Zelda II: The Adventures of Link (NES)- felt different from the first game, but the fun is still there. 3) LttP (SNES) : a true classic, thankfully got remade for GBA for a new audeince to ohh and ahh about it. 4) Links Awakening (original Gameboy version)- saddest, to me, story in the timeline, if you've played it you know the saddest part is at the end. 5) Minish Cap (GBA)- when I first saw it I had low expectations, when I played it I was amazed.

The SNES blew away my mind when I first laid eyes upon the graphics it achieved back then, mode 7, scaling and rotating, were just something not seen on a console in those days. It's just too bad it saw one Gradius game, but amazingly had 3 Parodius games. |

I'll go a different way here, for me graphics don't make a great game, I look for replayability, a damned good challenge, control, and best of all 2-Dism, I like 3-D but prefer 2-D more, call it my old school inhibition. |

I'm a night person, I worked graveyard shifts for 5 years, turned me against sunlight for awhile although I hold a day job now. As for mornings, I woke up for those throughout my time at school, I did my time doing that. |

I did this back at Retrogaming Roundtable forums, my best score was 28, there were a few that totally threw me off. |

I own a Compaq myself, haven't really had problems with it except for my old CD burner (it's working again thanks to new drivers for it), and that wasn't because of the make of PC. Sure I'd love to have a Dell or something fancy, but I have my system mainly as a gaming rig (emulation capitol) and that's pretty much what I use it for. Plus considering the fact I would have paid only $295 for this beast (but thanks to revolving credit accounts and putting a new warranty on this 3 year old machine, 3 in June that is, I'll have it paid by 2010. Revolving account also has a brand new 27 in screen TV and a DVD player on it) I'd say this little Compaq has paid off in a huge way. No matter what PC you get sometimes you'll just have a hunk of junk, other times a treasure, it's just the luck of the draw.
|
As for Win XP, meh it's both good and bad, bad for security holes, and for running DOS based games, good because it's all I have and it has served it's purpose.

Gradius V hands down, as sweet as the game is, sadly shmups are dying out here in the U.S.. I reserved my copy thinking if I didn't it would sell out quick (and a free bonus DVD too which EB never got, the bastards), but sadly I was the only preorder for this shooter. Many people are missing out on this great title, because in todays FPS,RPG, and action gaming world, the twitch finger is slowly being replaced by mind numingly slower paced gameplay.

This is exactly why I like old school games, they can actually increase hand-eye coordination, and make you sharper in mind.

I'm a member of their forums yes, but I don't run the site or anything. Ed Oscuro of Castlevania Dungeon and Digital press forums fame, got me into that forum, when I saw they had old school game boards there, I flipped out. I wish I had game collections as big as some of the guys there have, mine's not too bad, but it doesn't compare average game amount wise.
|
That reminds me I need to post more often there. (Last edited by Bloodreign on 03-13-05 03:09 AM)

I've enjoyed every game in the series (damn me for not picking up the GBA remake of SGn'G), I've never had an easy time with Super Ghouls N' ghosts, but it is easier than Ghouls N' Ghosts for arcade/Genesis/X68000/TG-16, and Ghosts N' Goblins.
|
The gold armor and the crossbow really help, but in quest 2, you need the Goddess Bracelet in order to finish the game completely (if you miss it and beat the stage 7 boss, back to the beginning for you), in Ghouls N Ghosts, the Psycho Cannon was needed to beat the game, in Ghosts N' Goblins, you'd need the cross to beat the game, but all 3 games had 2 quests within them to keep you playing.

I can't list every game I have by name but here goes by numbers.
|
7 GBA 6 GB 74 PSX 15 PS 2 33 NES 23 Genesis 14 SNES 3 Atari 2600 (no longer work I believe) My collection isn't gaudy in numbers, since I'm picky about buying games, but not so about emulating those same old games. In other words, I don't have a large gaming collection IRL, but man emulation is a different story, it's just too bad I don't have the money for a ton of new games.

Gradius 3 SNES was a tough shmup, but it doesn't compare to the arcade games difficulty at all. The Thunder Force series is pretty swell as well, but that's the good thing about shooters they are pretty much twitch reaction, they keep you on your toes at all times.
|
And as for ROMS as far as I know I have EVERYTHING covered (except GBA). (Last edited by Bloodreign on 03-15-05 03:40 PM)

I would have loved to have seen the Gradius Deluxe Pack (Gradius 1 and 2), Salamander Deluxe Pack (Salamander, Life Force, Salamander 2) released here in the U.S. for PSX, it would complement my Gradius 3 And 4 collection quite nicely. |

Black Lord sez:
|
Well ever since Paavo started that little Gradius thread at CVR, I have been hooked... and damn Gradius 3 is a bitch... but a very good bitch at that, right now my rom collection is what I like to call lacking, but that will only last till I get my high speed and new computer with two 250 gig drives.. (yes I'm greedy)... then I'll start fill my drives with roms, and get a decent controller too. Until then, I'm bound to be playing Gradius III on SNES, trying to get by the little galapagos heads without getting mauled. Bloodreign sez: I'm the one that got Paavo addicted to that series, I hooked him up with more than just the NES version. I think I sent SNES Gradius 3, the arcade versions, the GB versions, and the X68K versions (I have more versions too). As for the PS 2 version, no save states no cheats, very easy, 1 cred to the Cube Rush stage. And the speed Zone, ahh the SNES version, man play the arcade version, it'll grow hair on your chest. The arcade/PS 2 and SNES versions of Gradius 3 are two different beasts, the arcade/PS 2 version makes grown men cry. (Last edited by Bloodreign on 03-21-05 02:06 AM)
