I haven’t even checked this place in about a year... hi. Not like I left old passwords away from older accounts here but I’m unlikely to go back to them without feeling like cringe

Anyway, you know the drill. I’ll likely be sporadic again, whenever I feel like it. Pleasantly surprised to see the board got updated too, though on a side note, the HTTPS loads mixed content on the default theme (at least on index.php), so yeah, might want to look at that :p

The thread title is spelt wrong. It’s “bug reports”

- Some MySQL duplicate primary key notice when registering.
- Showing users’ posts doesn’t work. (Complete white screen)
- RPG stats also don’t work (still).
- The default theme loads mixed content on index.php at least, breaking HTTPS there.

On a note, maybe it would be worth making one of the domains non-HTTPS (and one full-HTTPS) for accessibility - I wouldn’t mind accessing this place from stupidly old VMs or something for instance lol. The HTTPS one should stay indexed in Google, for reference.

It must be insane to think you helped form part of people’s eternally-held memories with this place’s existence X... I can’t speak for you or anyone but, with real life commitments and all that happened over time with everyone here, it must feel like you get a feeling of purity, like you did something positively impacting on someone’s life, from anyone logging in again to say hi again here.

That I can’t even begin to think how it feels. <3

Feeder.

If anyone knows of them here (which I doubt), it’s probably either for “High” or “Buck Rogers”. The former got to #24 in the US charts in 1997, while the latter was used in the film “Behind Enemy Lines”.

Still, I have much of their material - I should upload an image of my collection really fairly soon.

Granted - it’s simply postponed. The physical effects are gone, but only for now, and when they come back that time will be made up for. Watch out.

I wish there was a pot noodle in the cupboard. I’m not only hungry but I’m literally craving noodles

Same, I couldn't really care less if I get it or anything really... as for my mum however, she's been going through a lot since the past year or so and it does genuinely bother me, as her immune system is likely lowered (from when she had a heart attack last August) and she suffers from depression too since a long time so...

This seems to be happening a lot here, seems we’re all nostalgic in these times of self-isolation and bullshit social media. Maybe we should relive the time it as a means of keeping ourselves occupied.

Was never part of the original circle but welcome back regardless.

See, I never have problems while writing. I love writing. I can sit here and write a huge post, only realizing how long it is once I post it. For me, I get distracted easily with things that either do not challenge me or do not concern me. And waiting. I hate waiting.

Needless to say, things that do not challenge/concern me happen every day--and I don't pay attention. Sure, if something interesting happens in a conversation or situation, I'm all ears and can recite the exact words spoken days later (almost literally). Meh. I think I just have selective hearing/attention. Maybe not ADD/ADHD.

That basically is ADD, though. It's one of the main 'symptoms' as they like to put it as (though it's really more like 'traits' or something, as it's a personality thing, not an illness), only really feeling motivated with stuff that concerns some particular fixative interest of the individual.

I also have a habit of overwriting, and then missing out important details, resulting in me editing a post maybe seven or more times before it's finished. You're certainly not alone there, it loses me too. Same thing happened in my GCSE English exam back in 2018.

A lot of other traits include hypersexual tendencies, lack of boundaries (more due being unable to control oneself in a quick situation socially, not because of intentionally being an arsehole), laziness and procrastination (at least how others see it, for me it's more 'I go to do something and then can't be arsed, going back to whatever I was doing'), a rather reflective undertone when it comes to humour, split personality/tendency to drift opinions based on the current situation... I could go on and on. Obviously not everything here is absolute in every situation and can overlap with other stuff, hence why it's so misunderstood

I was diagnosed years ago, about the age of 8 (so about 2007). Add high-functioning autism, and try to live with it. :V

Fuck the fucking people that keep smoking weed and cooking weird smelling shit in the two flats below mine. Oh and not only that, opening and closing the door to random fucking weirdos at 2 in the morning, banging the door down to the point the front door lock is fucked to my flat, leaving your baby screaming and crying half the fucking night, blocking the electric meter's door with a stupid laddish bike, and giggling and chatting in the indecipherable, muffled Fannit Chav dialect so loud that I can hear them with the bloody window shut on the top floor with my headphones on my ears.

And you have the fucking audacity to deny doing any of this, yeah, lol no. Thank fucking god I'm out of here by the end of September, I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't smoke or drink in the entire fucking town.

Honestly everything seems to be a continuation of a very long, dragged-out and worsening 2016 for me and what's going on in the world, especially with the way social media is getting rapidly globalised and such since then (see: Discord finally killing most forums).

Same, looked like a really nice place back then, and from what you've told me in the past about how it used to be really active in like 2005-2007.

Wish we could just allocate a small bit of time to the board, or maybe we should, hmm. Taking a break from major social media and the likes for even a week and kicking back might be a good idea especially given everything going on.

At least you guys were born in a time where the internet was less serious, but you get to be equally as nostalgic about it.

I was more or less referring to how internet culture basically became fully bridged with mainstream culture around that point. 2012 really started that, though it finally happened in 2016 or so and now we have crap like TikTok, which is setting objectification of women/children back 200 years, fused into, and normalised as part of youth society (take the word 'simp' for example, which came from there, which means 'male flirt' and was coined by a typical 'hip-hop chav' on TikTok if I'm not mistaken)... and Twitter - a constant back-and-forth hellhole of nolives nowadays on both the neocommunist hypocritical far left, and the conservative, devout Catholic right; neither of which the arguments of course get anywhere, and yet they're taken just as seriously as a real argument, in real life. I guess modern society is equivalent to the aesthetics Genocide City Zone were supposed to convey, as Hachelle-Bee pictured it in S2 Long Version, huh.

"And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next..." seems to become more and more of a relevant song lyric every day that passes, huh.

Wow, that was one hell of a long post, sorry for the lack of organisation. You likely didn't even read most of it...

Really digging Wacky Workbench Bad Future's guitar solo in the US Sonic CD. Underrated soundtrack IMO.

Last post said it, Sonic CD. Been playing the PS2 version which uses the US soundtrack - they never fixed the localisation for PAL versions. Given this was the case on the Windows 95 port, which the PS2 version is based on; I would genuinely not be surprised if CD was actually meant to use the US OST in the original European release, but due to some kind of miscommunication on SOA's part (something rather common in those days wasn't it!) they ended up releasing it here anyway.

It would also match up with why the 2011 version actually defaults to the US soundtrack when you're starting the game from a European device (PS3/iOS tested).

I have to wonder if there was a marketing reason for this, and I heard some countries (particularly those in SECAM-L regions such as France and the former USSR) had the US soundtrack instead on later prints of the game, so...

That's definitely strange. The newer versions on PS3/Steam here in the US at least give you the option of picking the soundtrack now, so I think it's cool they finally got both. I grew up on the US one (even owned it) but I fond of the E/J OST too. I love both honestly. Then you have a bunch of games that were on both Genesis or Sega CD, or across the SNES and other platforms... I liked how back then OST's could be radically different depending on the hardware, or just straight up re-composed.

They do here - it just selected the US soundtrack by default instead of what it was originally when played on a European system. I wonder if it's alluding to the fact only the original release had the Japanese soundtrack over here, and all subsequent rereleases up to the 2011 remake had the selection option.

Interestingly, the PAL version on the PS2 doesn't actually delete the JP songs or replace them: it simply doesn't change the BGM_US marker in the ISO binary. The GC version on the other hand used the US soundtrack in all regions, probably to save space due to the miniDisc size limit, heh.

And yeah, absolutely. Arcade soundtracks and other more 'FM-reliant', 'noise/rocky' tunes tended to sound better on the Mega Drive, take a look at SF2 SCE's soundtrack. Given the CPS1 chip is a YM2413 or something, and the MD's is a YM2612, it made a pretty swift conversion (though there was an earlier prototype that sounded even closer albeit they had to rewrite the audio driver due to voices cutting off).

Zero Wing also crops up IMO as one of the best sounding third party games on the entire MD - and overlooked for that fact too due to the memes. I actually own a physical copy of the PAL version and a PAL Model 1 Mega Drive btw (hooked up via RF, though I'll get an RGB SCART cable soon), lol. It's honestly surprising no one has ever bothered to write up guitar tabs for that game's OST, but yeah, go listen to its soundtrack whenever you can

SNES was pretty much sample based and therefore it really depended on the quality and efficiency of how sampling was arranged. Games like DKC really showed it IMO, check out the remastered soundtracks of those games by that one guy (Sam Miller) who reconstructed the OST using the game data and original samples sourced from the instruments themselves. Forest Interlude, Life In The Mines and Cave Dweller Concert... on a good pair of headphones, holy fuck. Immense isn't a word to describe the feeling <3

Mhm.

At least here I feel like I can just say what I want for some reason, and how I want to say it, too (which sort of explains why, despite managing to be banned everywhere else on the face of earth, I never left here). Probably also why I'm not always keen on using IM, it's too fast for me much of the time and I worry about being too slow to respond, etc...
