No. Not at all. Only ignorant Christians say that. And not all Christians are ignorant.

And no, i don't find this offending at all. This is, after all, a debate.

i'm going to throw in my two cents to prevent this from being merely a conversation between Xeo and Saijin

I seem to dislike Saijin's taste in metal very much. Though i'm not good at categorizing genres of music, it seems to me that you like only symphonic, goth, death, black, (insert depressing word here) metal.

Xeo, your metal collection is quite impressive...but it seems to lack some essential albums in my opinion. I like that you have some Judas Priest, Children of Bodom (I absolutely love "In Your Face" and "Are You Dead Yet?") and Skid Row. Youth Gone Wild, anyone?

I think Malmsteem is a bit overrated. His skills are undeniable, but with some exceptions, a lot of his songs are rather repetitive. It's hard to find Guitar virtuosos nowadays that are able to incorporate variety into their music. While he doesn't just play metal, i suggest that all of you look up John5. He was originally the guitarist of Manson's band, but after quitting, he was really allowed to show off his real skills in his solo albums Vertigo and Songs for Sanity. Some amazing songs that showcase his abilities: "Damaged", "Soul of a Robot", "Gein with Envy"

I really do not like Dragonforce at all. They are the epitome of redundancy. Every song i hear by them sounds almost exactly the same. Their two guitarists are very skilled, but they are also extremely cocky...especially Herman Li.

I haven't read through this entire thread, so sorry if i'm repeating stuff already said.

If you ever feel like straying away from goth or symphonic or whatever metal you usually listen to, you should consider listening to some good ole' Pantera. Vulgar Display of Power (is that the name? it's something like that) was an absolutely amazing album. Some songs to definitely check out if you haven't: "Walk" (one of the coolest riffs ever), "Cowboys from Hell", and "Cemetery Gates" (really one of the most amazing solos ever by Dimebag Darrel).

Another one of my favorites bands is Trivium. There's been a lot of debate about what kind of metal they are, but they are most definitely metal. THeir dual guitars and harmony solos are absolutely stunning. Their album Ascendancy is one of my most favorite albums ever. If you're interested, check out "Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation" and "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" by them. They've been hailed as the next Metallica...so that's got to count for something. Fun fact: they did an amazing cover of Master of Puppets.

k, that's it for now.

I have heard of Panteria and everything else you just said, even downloaded them off of Itunes a month ago. I like them as well.

But seriously, It helps to read sometimes....

i don't really care what you listen to nor do I care to understand what you listen to 'a little deeper'. that's why i didn't bother reading the entire thing. i even said I DIDN'T read the entire thread. so what don't you get? i mentioned you only twice in that entire thread, one of them was simply to point out that I dont' completely agree with your tastes in metal. you mentioned all the stuff before. alright, that's fine. but i'm giving my opinion. i'm telling you what i have to say about some of the bands mentioned. so what's the problem? This is a metal thread about metal in general, not "Metal that Saijin likes".

therefore, there's no need to tell me to follow my own advice and read more. I'm contributing to the thread, not to your one on one conversation with Xeo.

you could have corrected me, couldn't you? i was being serious about 'symphonic' all the way to 'black'. the thing in parentheses was a joke.

how hard is it to spell Pantera correctly?

btw, no hard feelings.

EDIT: one more thing...there's way too many categories of metal in existance. they need to find some way to make it more organized. :-/

Second Edit: On another note...i like Nightwish. Isn't that symphonic metal?

i'm typing with sore fingers. :-/ so excuuuuse my typos.
Metallica is slow and sweet? wow.

also, Nightwish is definitely symphonic metal. And I think metalcore is something like the heavy metal genre except there's screaming...but it's not really emo.

i stand corrected. i got Metalcore and Thrash metal confused cause those are the two genres Trivium is most often associated with. Metalcore is just heavily influenced by Thrash metal.

i don't quite see how I was a douche in the first place when I even said i'm not good at categorizing genres of music. when I was referring to goth, black, symphonic, etc. i was actually referring to bands you mentioned earlier like Kalmah or whatever. i just didn't get the genre right.

edit: i'm also a big fan of Rage Against the Machine. I think they would be considered Rapcore.

Anime to me now is just whatever. I used to love anime but now, it doesn't seem to grab my interest as much as it did when i was younger. A lot of the anime that most people find popular, i really don't have any interest in.

One anime that has caught my interest recently, however, is s-CRY-ed. I'm not sure why, but i can't help but wonder what might happen in the next episode.

btw,
i do not like Naruto. at all.
*cough*

ok, that's it. =)

I enjoy Audioslave...but they just aren't the same as Rage Against the Machine, even with Tom Morello and his amazing guitar techniques.

I think the problem with Metallica is that they strayed too far away from what made them popular in the first place. Granted, i'm not one of those people who go "OMG Old Metallica was sooo much better!!!!!" and "Metallica sold out!! THey've gone mainstream and now they suck!!!". However, as you could probably tell from St. Anger, they've sort of lost their touch. I'm hoping their new album brings back the "Master of Puppets" Metallica.

i've always found that Megadeth focused more on speed than on technicality. Of course, this was years ago. I guess i'll go check them out again, since you say Rust In Peace beats out any of Metallica's album.

Yeah. The S&M has some awesome Metallica hits with the full backing of an orchestra. It's up to the listener whether he/she likes the addition of the orchestra. I personally find it a very fine plus to some of my favorite Metallica songs. Sad But True with the orchestra is quite good, in my opinion. No Leaf Clover is quite possibly my favorite Metallica song though it strays very far away from heavy/thrash metal Metallica.

i got so creeped out by it. i actually read the text first. i then dared myself to look at the pic. I took one glance at the eyes and closed the window.

it seriously reminds me of the Ring. guess i'm going to die pretty soon.

maybe it's just me but the picture seems to be perpetually blurred. it's like the lines never stay clearly defined. it's almost impossible to focus on it. it's kind of weird.

attacking North Korea is a bad idea seeing as how China and South Korea will not stand for it. The last thing the US needs is to get into a war with China.

aside from the fact that I couldn't understand a single word Sylvester said, i'm actually looking forward to the movie. I've always been a Rocky fan so I may very well go see the movie when it comes out.

the fact that he's 60 now and making another Rocky movie is somewhat frightening.

Suprisingly Sparda, I don't think we'd need to war with NK, China has a problem with that, and though it has not actually been in a real war in quite a while, they might not have a huge problem if we took it out, and then gave it to SK.

Although, either way, it will hurt America's political poition by a lot.

if we were to do that, Korea would most likely be engulfed in a massive civil war. The US, being the direct cause of that, will most likely have to stay behind in Korea to act as 'peacekeepers', causing China to be threatened by US presence so close to their borders. I say it'd be better if the US just leave Asia alone completely.
