When I was a kid and thought everything I was doing was monumental. Not seriously, no, though.

Have you ever been naked in public?

Several times. Even over rings that weren't very important. Thankfully have never had to cut anything.

Have you ever watched a movie so many times you can mouth the words exactly and without looking at it?

Not exactly 18, but my right has several scars on the fingers, palm and near the wrist from various cuts and flesh wounds (had surgery on it at least once). Also doesn't help that I've had cats for years.

Have you ever had a stuffed animal you've just sworn that you'll never get rid of and the thought makes you want to cry?

No, but I wish I could have sometimes. I have destroyed some things so they won't work any more, but taking a bat or sledge hammer to it? No.

Have you ever licked a stick of deodorant?

My last weekend went as I'd mentioned. Thankfully talking about it didn't jinx it. I'm the kind of person who really hates making plans and then having to cancel them for stupid reasons.

Also went to the Long Beach Grand Prix with Zoso. Played more God of War 2 at the demo station Sony had in the exhibit hall.

This past weekend:

- Wednesday: Went to the Star Wars experience with Zoso for our anniversary.

- Friday: expected to hang around the hospital for my mom's surgery, but at the last minute it was postponed. She'll have it on May 2. Hung out with Christina (Kittybob) instead.

- Saturday: Went to Space LARP after doing some yardwork and cleaned out my garage so Zoso won't have to park in the street (My city sucks. You can't park in the street at night without a night permit and you only get 30 one-night permits a year. We already used those up mid-March). LARP was good, I just wish I knew more about the storyline before going in.

- Sunday: Went to a comic convention in Orange County. It was all right.

Pockets once set a few strands of my hair on fire, but it wasn't anything serious.

Have you ever had something pierced only to regret it?

Some of those really do look tampered with as I swear I've seen some of those look better than they portrayed it.

The chicken bowl looks like they brought it home and stuck it in the microwave while a couple of the hamburgers look a little smashed.

Otherwise, the Subway sandwich looks right, as do several of the sandwiches. I can't speak for the chili salad as I rarely hit up Wendy's for anything more than 99 cent nuggets.

Oh yeah. That's happened to me. A couple years ago, when I was trying to make some money before this convention in Vegas, I went to sell a bunch of my books at a second-hand store and got $5 for box of paperbacks. There were a couple more boxes that they wouldn't buy, but they said they'd accept them as donations.

There have been other occasions like that for me. Most involving garage sales my neighborhood has had.

Have you ever tried to sell something you made?

No one outside of Warner Brothers is entirely sure if this is official or just a make-up test that they're going to play around with (most likely the case considering the fact that he's holding up a color chart).

Anyway, since the announcement of his playing Joker, some months ago, I still haven't developed my stance on it. Simply put I hope Chris Nolan doesn't go the path of the many Batman directors before him and make it so outwardly unbelievable by miscasting celebrities.

I'd rather they get a talented nobody than a somebody who doesn't fit the part at all.

We'll see. Any thoughts?

Have you seen Batman: Dead End? It was a fan film done by Sandy Collora for the 2003 Comic-Con film festival.

Honestly when I saw it back then, I was ready to hail Sandy as a golden god and would have no one direct another Batman movie but him. Even when it was announced that Christian Bale would be Batman, I was wanting Clark Bartram for old Batsy.

Here it is. There are probably better versions on YouTube somewhere, but this'll do for now:

Anyway, I trust that the next Batman movie will kick ass. I'll just take it as it comes and not expect anything.

Yep. Since I really wasn't up on actually doing my summer reading for the AP/honors classes in high school until the last minute, I ended up reading some of my books within the last days of summer. I read Ivanhoe, Brave New World, Fallen Angels, A Canticle for Liebowitz, Prozac Nation, Hunger from Memory, Warrior Woman, and Dust Tracks on the Road in a matter of a day each.

There are several books I've read in a one day because I really liked them.

Hell, if Jack Nicholson can play Joker, anything's possible.

At least Mark Hamill can one-up everybody and say he's been Joker longer than anyone by doing the voice on the cartoon series and doing it every time the character guests in another series.

He was Cocknocker for crying out loud.

I need something to do. Planning things out usually keeps me busy--and rather content.

Hmmm.

I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night.

He's gotta be strong.

And he's gotta be fast. And he's gotta be fresh from the fight.

Considering how one-tracked people tend to be when they are so passionate about something, it's much more likely that those who are against video games of any sort will just dismiss the article as "one bleeding heart's cynical opinion."

When it comes to the media, people often only read what supports their ideas and only stick to those. Call it narrow-minded but that's how it goes.

The bodies weren't even cold yet and Thompson was jumping the gun to blame video game violence. Obviously there's already a bias in place and the man will not look at any of this objectively or alter his opinion no matter what the facts.

Wiccan symbol OK for soldiers' graves
POSTED: 8:58 a.m. EDT, April 25, 2007

MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) -- The Wiccan pentacle has been added to the list of emblems allowed in national cemeteries and on government-issued headstones of fallen soldiers, according to a settlement announced Monday.

A settlement between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Wiccans adds the five-pointed star to the list of "emblems of belief" allowed on VA grave markers.

Eleven families nationwide are waiting for grave markers with the pentacle, said Selena Fox, a Wiccan high priestess with Circle Sanctuary in Barneveld, Wisconsin, a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

The settlement calls for the pentacle, whose five points represent earth, air, fire, water and spirit, to be placed on grave markers within 14 days for those who have pending requests with the VA.

"I am glad this has ended in success in time to get markers for Memorial Day," Fox said.

The VA sought the settlement in the interest of the families involved and to save taxpayers the expense of further litigation, VA spokesman Matt Burns said. The agency also agreed to pay $225,000 in attorneys' fees and costs.

The pentacle has been added to 38 symbols the VA already permits on gravestones. They include commonly recognized symbols for Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism, as well as those for smaller religions such as Sufism Reoriented, Eckankar and the Japanese faith Seicho-No-Ie.

"This settlement has forced the Bush Administration into acknowledging that there are no second class religions in America, including among our nation's veterans," said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which represented the Wiccans in the lawsuit.

The American Civil Liberties Union said the agreement also settles a similar lawsuit it filed last year against the VA. In that case, the ACLU represented two other Wiccan churches and three individuals.

VA-issued headstones, markers and plaques can be used in any cemetery, whether it is a national one such as Arlington or a private burial ground like that on Circle Sanctuary's property.

Wicca is a nature-based religion based on respect for the earth, nature and the cycle of the seasons. Variations of the pentacle not accepted by Wiccans have been used in horror movies as a sign of the devil.

Though it might sound small, this is a pretty sweet victory for religious tolerance.

I don't mind a reinterpretation. It's the sequel to Batman Begins for crying out loud--the movie that put 40-inch Hummer tires on the Batmobile and acts like the other movies don't exist--so interpretation isn't only expected, it's encouraged.

My qualm lies in casting Heath Ledger, though. I like the guy. I especially liked him in "Roar" (that Fox adventure/fantasy show he did in the late-mid-'90s that no one seems to remember, but that I loved oh so much). But is he really Jack Napier?

Maybe? Don't know.

Not meaning to question Nolan's master plan, considering how well it turned out last time, but that really stumped a lot of us comic geeks.

I had a dream like that once involving Disneyland. For some reason, the U.S. was being ravaged and the only safe place for refugees was at Disneyland.

You know, as I think on it, Disneyland would be really cool deserted and dilapidated. Lots of interesting things there that would look even better discovering them decades later all old and unkempt. Exploring the Alice in Wonderland ride would be a trip.

Dude, I know where I'm going if I survive the nuclear winter. Woot.
