Actually, the main reason why I found this list was because I was stuck watching Montel that day and I noticed she kept saying the world was ending in 93 years, so I had to look into that.

Didn't Nostradamus predict the world would end in 3790? From what I remember it would be by a comet hitting Earth near New York (ala Deep Impact), but man would have already started living in space stations by then.

Ah, prognosticators.

I've more wanted to come home because the trip relatively sucked than because I had a social life.

Have you ever gone trick-or-treating without a costume?

Posted on 07-09-07 12:58 PM, in Differences between an anime and the corresponding manga. Link
I just realized, looking over my manga shelves, that my books don't have corresponding anime. Movies, yes (Battle Royale, Lady Snow Blood, Crouching Tiger, etc), but nothing that became an anime series.

I have noticed differences in those based on movies, though, as well as other manga that I've read that do become anime (though I don't have any on hand). I had figured the reasons were much like what Avatar detailed.

I'll have to go over my stuff and compare them all. Right now, the only one that comes to mind is how the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon manga (put out originally by Comics One), is very different from the movie it's based on because it's a prequel, so it takes its own turns and goes where it wants.

Actually on looking back on my statement, it's relatively unfair in that it leaves out a lot of the really good American microbrews.

I've come to learn that the whole "Beer before liquor, never sicker/Liquor before beer, you're in the clear" is bunk. It's all in the same place, some of it's not going to agree with each other. As Zoso learned in Vegas a couple years ago, DO NOT mix tequila and vodka, and continue taking shots of schnapps. He woke up naked in the middle of a hotel room and after coloring the bathroom with various shades of vomit.

Supposedly, it's best to keep to the same color liquids. Clearer ones (vodka, gin, etc) have less effect the next day and so on.

However, I had a night of drinking nothing but rum (drank the equivalent of a bottle and a half) and didn't feel so nice the next day.

Anyway, the main thing to learn is to find and know your limit. Also once you turn 21, your constitution can completely be shot to hell.

Heh, that's right, they do have that on this day. Usually they're 7.11 oz. Slurpees, though.

A friend of mine makes a day out of driving to different ones and pouring them into one big cup every year.

Since this seems to shock people whenever I tell them this, I'll just say ... I still haven't seen any of these movies.

It's probably better to refrain from them in the long run. Well, not meaning to sound bitter over it.

The first one was wonderful, capturing everything I imagined the books to be. The second built on it. While I was a little disappointed, it was still enjoyable. Then the third one--based on my favorite book of the series, Prisoner of Azkaban--broke my OFG heart.

While talking to Zoso about it after we saw it with a big group of friends, as he was the only one among us who didn't read the books, he didn't know why we were all upset, though he found some of the story rather odd and disjointed. Actually, he was rather exasperated with Harry and Hermione going back in time near the end since he was just wanting it all to be over already.

I still have yet to see Goblet of Fire, or to read any since Order of the Phoenix. Truth be told, I've completely fallen out of the fandom and, within me, the hype over the movie and subsequent release of the seventh book have been greeted with apathy, bordering on frustration.

I do realize I'm being a bit melodramatic over a children's film/written saga (and is it just me or do I seem to be getting more and more bitter every year?), but I guess I expect too much of the things I love(d).

Seriously, though, if only the Onion's report of a date rape in the final book were true.

Yes and no. There's a lot of pop I don't like, but occasionally pop stars come out with songs I like.

Really I can't help but echo his regard. I've given Bush way too many chances in my book, but the Libby issue sort of pushed me over the edge with him (though I already was pissed that when Senate was passing a deadline on the troop surge in Iraq and Bush exclaimed that no matter what he was going to veto it).

While loyalty is a wonderful trait, I just can't uphold it for a president in whom I've lost complete confidence.

Posted on 07-12-07 05:47 PM, in What are you doing this weekend? How was your weekend? Link
So this coming weekend, I'll be at the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade with WhiteRose and GuardianOni (and anyone else, Rosy?).

Two nights of fantasy, performances and many other things that can never be expected.

Last weekend was a bit ho-hum. Just went to the Shakespeare by the Sea "Taming of the Shrew" performance at Point Ferman. It wasn't the best production, but hey it was free and the cast and crew are all volunteers, so no complaints.

The weekend prior was Anime Expo in Long Beach. A lot of people have been going on about it being the worst AX ever, but I had fun nonetheless. Saw the Death Note movies, S.K.I.N. (Gackt's new band), the Romeo and Juliet series premiere stuff, Tekkonkinkreet, and went to a few cosplay meet-ups.

Yep, quite often. It really sucks when it's something low to the ground that I stub my toe on and end up walking around, trying to relieve the pain and swearing like there was no tomorrow.

It looks like Burnout 3, but instead of crashing a car into as many things you can and causing as much monetary damage as possible, it's a person causing as much bodily harm as possible.

Well that's amusing.

To add to the sentiment that pretty much everyone else has expressed, that is indeed ridiculous. The fitting punishment would be to scrub it off (or paint over it), and possibly serve detention, not what she was dealt.

Sign of the times, I suppose. Times that aren't so rosy.

Woot, someone else knows about it. I watched it a couple years back while at this big drinking party with friends from my Rocky cast. Delicious musical parody.

My favorite character's Joan of Arc, but I can't help but love Alan Cumming and all of the parts he plays in it.

EDIT: Just to put in another video to illustrate what serious topics the movie approaches :
