Posted on 12-31-07 05:43 PM, in 2007 surveys (another of these surveys for the bored folks out there) Link
This is an in-depth 2007 survey!
BE HONEST

1-Did you kiss anyone?
- Yes.

2-Did you date anyone?
- Yes.

3-Are you going to kiss someone when the ball drops?
- I suppose, but I've never really gotten excited about the countdown thing.

4-Did you lose any friends?
- Well I don't see as many people as I used to on a regular basis due to schedules and people moving further away, but I haven't stopped being friends with anyone.

5-Did you gain any friends?
- Some, yes.

6-Did you do something new?
- Drove legally, spent my birthday in the hospital (was visiting my dad), became someone's godmother, been called a drum tech or roadie, went to an Indian casino, drove into another state, tried absinthe, got a cellphone, went to Tombstone (and saw the O.K. Corral and a reenactment on it), rode in the driver's seat of a stagecoach, finally got to meet my friend Gina and her son Connor (been talking to her online for years), and picketed with the writers during the strike.

There's probably more that I'm forgetting.

Other things like owned an iPod, watched someone get tazed by the police, went to a Rocky Horror cast's show in another state, listened to my own voice over the Internet, ate at the Heart Attack Grill, and went to a shitload of places I'd never been before.

7-Boyfriend/Girlfriend?
- Brandon. That's it.

8-Did you change?
- I did change the way I thought of myself I suppose. I got my permit, moved into a completely different room in my house (prior to this, I've lived in the same room for 20 some odd years), and both of my parents have been in and out of the hospital. I'm also about to transfer into university. Lots of changes.

9-Are you happy with the year over all?
- Even though it's been ridiculously rough at the beginning, it was a GREAT year.

10-What's the best thing that happened to you?
- The best? Um... anything good I made happen, but I was really excited that Brandon bought me a copy of the first season of Heroes for $15 at Target.

11-Did you fall in or out of love?
- Neither. Already was in love. Although I did sort of fall hard for Basch.

12-Are you happy the year's almost over?
- Seriously, like the countdown/ball-dropping, I just don't get why this would make a difference.

13-Are you going to change something about yourself next year?
- I'll get my license and go to university. After that's up to fate.

14-Do you think 2008 will be a better year then 2007?
- Ours is not to reason why.

20-Did you go on a summer vacation?
- Went through con season (Anime Expo, Labyrinth Masquerade, and Comic-Con). Was the best Comic-Con for me yet.

21-Did you lie to your parents?
- As in more in 2007 than I ever did any other year? I lied here and there, I suppose.

22-Did you get into a fight?
- None outside of the usual petty arguments with my mom.

23-Did you leave the country?
- Only went to Arizona a couple times. Arizona's like another county compared to California.

24-Did u have a good birthday?
- Went to visit my dad in the hospital which while it was nice to see him was a little on the traumatizing side seeing his back after his surgery. Elara and WhiteRose were generous enough to throw a gathering for Brandon and me later that month (though it was mostly an excuse to hang out).

25-did you lose weight?
- Probably gained.

26-did you get any taller?
- I may have gotten shorter.

27-Did you dye your hair?
- Haven't done that since the end of 2003.

26-Who did you talk on the phone with most?
- Pat, probably, since Brandon's and my phone conversations usually only last a couple minutes.

29-Did anyone sing to you?
- Becky looked at me a lot when she'd perform.

30-Did you sing to anyone?
- Not on a stage or anything.

31-Did anyone tell you they loved you?
- Brandon says so all the time.

32-Did you ever go to the hospital?
- Just to visit my parents.

33-What did you drink and eat the most?
- There was a lot more variety than just eating at the same places. I would probably have to say Pizza Hut food since Christina works there like 7 days a week and Brandon and I go to visit her from time to time.

34-Did you change your top at least 8 times?
- I'm guessing this is a Myspace reference. I don't have one.

35-Did you change your profile over 10 times?
- Don't have a Myspace. I haven't really changed anything in LiveJournal or Deviantart profiles, but I've changed what videos appear in my Xeogaming bio. I'm trying to delete my Friendster account.

36-Did you change your profile name at least 20 times?
- No.

37-Did you get a tattoo?
- No.

38-Did you see any good movies?
- 300 in IMAX, Beowulf in IMAX 3D, Grindhouse at the drive-in, Stardust, and Pan's Labyrinth. Otherwise movies I saw for the first time on video or DVD, there are too many to count.

39-Are you going to make a New Year's Resolution?
- Only the usual: go to at least one museum or something of the like a month, read at least 10 novels, experience as many new things as possible, yep.

40-Did you stick to your New Year's resolution from last year?
- Yep.

41- Think you'll date someone in 2008?
- I'll probably still be with the hobbit.

42- Where will you be when the ball drops?
- What's with this ball dropping shit? Just say New Year's eve. I'll be at Rick's house with Voidcrush and whatever other people will be coming.

43- Do you think you will make new friends in 2008?
- Dunno, probably.

44- Are you hoping to meet someone special in 2008?
- Someone "special"? Oh jeez.

45- How do you feel, another year has passed you by?
- I'm still just so surprised it's almost over. It went way too quickly.

Went to two different parties last night--a Wii party at my friend Patrick's house where he also put together this huge barbecue dinner and then later with Brandon's band at the other guitar player's house.

When it came to the actual moment, I completely didn't give a shit. A bunch of us were watching Orgazmo and then suddenly someone came in demanding that we turn it off and watch Dick Clark.

The man is a meat puppet.

Literally. He had a stroke not long ago and he looks like a piece of leather that keeps getting stretched out and.. well, he just needs to kick the bucket. Plastic surgery can only go so far, especially since his mind seems to be failing.

Anyway, when the ball dropped (seriously, WHAT THE FUCK IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT A BALL DROPPING?! Especially when you're watching a recording of it and the real ball dropped 3 hours prior), Brandon was sitting across the room from me. Neither of us got up to kiss the other, it was like any other moment in the world's mediocrity.

Good grief. Americans celebrating the New Year's makes absolutely no sense to me.

My feelings on the topic:

Hey all, just checking in from San Jose (northern California for some not familiar with the city). It's not as cold here, but we haven't gotten out much yet so we'll see.

Sad news to report about Phoenix--the Heart Attack Grill is no more. Went in the day before New Year's eve to find the signs and menus removed and the nurse-theme completely changed to whatever sexy outfits the girls could find on short notice. The food tastes relatively the same, but apparently because of business issues Dr. Jon was having the whole nurse/doctor thing has been toe-tagged for good.

Anyway, we'll be here in NorCal until Sunday. Internet usage is spotty here so go ahead and count me inactive until then. Sorry, folks.

Karen David -- Liessa Dragonlady

Dude, I just spent the last two weeks sleeping on air mattresses and in combination, going to sleep really late and waking up really early. If I, a walking zombie, can somehow make it up before 7 in the morning, I know you can find it in you to get back on track.

Sleep cycles are a strange beast. When you don't have work or school or some sort of obligation that would keep you on a schedule it gets really easy to slip into the habit of being a nightowl.

While there are probably all-natural methods like squirting shark piss up your nose or what have you, you might need to either sedate yourself or give yourself a kidney stone drinking caffeine all day. Take your pick.

Otherwise, plan out a day where you're going to spend most of it on your feet and stay awake through it. Then fall asleep at 8 or whatever you might consider a reasonable hour.

Good grief, we're finally home. These past two weeks have been nuts (extremely fun, but nuts nonetheless).

As I said in other places, Brandon and I are all too happy to return to a mattress you don't have to inflate.

Classes starting in a week. I'm actually quite nervous.

Posted on 01-07-08 09:58 PM, in Fuck you Link
Although it's a really moot point at this level, a big Fuck You goes out to the girl who almost delayed Brandon and me at the airport yesterday.

We spent nearly an hour waiting for the shuttle to show up to take us to the Green Line station. To describe the terrain around us, we're on a narrow sidewalk island sort of thing in the middle of the road, a huge column taking up the majority of the standing space in one area, a fire hydrant directly in front of that, and this woman with her bags taking up the rest of the sidewalk. A few dozen others are waiting at the same stop for any of the 6 different shuttles to come through.

As the bus arrived, stopping a few yards down from where we were standing, we had to pass the woman and her haphazard pile of luggage as she was having a conversation with some other guy about the weather or whatever. Trying to pull by her as she bent down in front of me, constantly repeating myself saying, "Excuse me," with even her male companion telling her to let me through, she wouldn't budge. A few seconds later, while still bent over her luggage in front of me, she said, "I can't really do anything right now."

Suddenly the doors on the shuttle closed and the bus prepared to pull out into traffic, I screamed, "NOOOOO!!" threw my bag over her (I really don't know if I pushed her or anything, everything was going so fast), ran for the bus and started banging on the glass door. The driver looked over, opened the door and I jumped in with Brandon following after me and the bus tore out of there.

Brandon then told me that my "Vote Petrelli!" button had popped off my bag in the scuffle and landed near her but neither of us had the time to pick it up. Fuck! Oh well, I got another one from Ali Larter, but that's for safe keeping. Hopefully the bitch isn't a Heroes fan and figures out what it is.

I'm just glad we made it without having to wait another hour with this woman for the next G Bus to come by.

Anyway, just venting. I feel better now.

CUNT!!

OK, done now.

Yeah, I mentioned seeing test previews for it here: http://board.xeogaming.net/thread.php?id=10951

I'm actually quite curious, though it pretty much seems to be the Spartans meet pop culture and try to cope with it all.

Kinda reminds me of AntiReality when they actually put together a CafePress-like store.

Could never figure out why.

Sorry, Randy.

Posted on 01-08-08 11:43 AM, in Surveys/quizzes/memes about yourself Link
1. Who are you?
- Rogue...?

2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
- I don't know how I'd gauge the importance of some of the things about me, but I suppose:
1) I'm a HUGE geek. I spend an ungodly amount of time and money on conventions and an assortment of oddities that I collect.
2) I despise being at home all day. I need to get out and be in different places or else I get depressed and think I'm wasting my life doing nothing. My seasonal depression stems from my belief that the sooner it gets dark, the less I can accomplish in a day.
3) I get really excited over little things that no one else ever cares about. If I made a great deal on a DVD, I'm talking about it for a week at least. If I see a three-headed man walking his six-legged dog in the street, I'm talking about it for life.

3. When you aren't filling out 5,000 question surveys like this one what are you doing?
- Trying to talk Brandon into going on some crazy adventure.

4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
- I'm only taking a stats class this semester. My favorite classes have been philosophy, journalism, art, and my math class last semester since my teacher was just really spiffy.

5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
- Getting my ass into a university.

6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
- Paid for something I like doing.

7. What stage of life are you in right now?
- The self-discovery early 20s, moving into the "Why me?" mid-20s next week.

8. Are you more child-like or childish?
- Child-like, I guess?

9. What is the last thing you said out loud?
- "Montel's a fag." (Now when I say fag, I don't mean gay, I mean dick. We heteros really need to take that word back. )

10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?
- The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

11. Have you ever taken martial arts classes?
- I used to study Shotokan in elementary school. Got up to green belt, but stopped because my school was too far away for my parents to drive me to.

12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?
- It's been getting better as the years progress.

13. Does time really heal all wounds?
- There are definitely scars and scabs that don't heal completely.

14. How do you handle a rainy day?
- Like any other day, just wet.

15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
- Losing luggage.

16. How is your relationship with your parents?
- Decent.

Will you miss them when they are gone?
- Definitely. I've been thinking about this all of 2007 since they were both in the hospital last year. I know I'll be devastated when they pass on.

17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?
- For the most part.

18. What is the truest thing that you know?
- Nothing's free. Even love consumes your time when you think about it.

19. What did you want to be when you grew up?
- I'd always wanted to be a marine biologist up until I was 18.

20. Have you ever been given a second chance?
- A few.

21. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
- I used to be the giver, now I'm a free-trader.

22. Do you make your decisions with an open heart/mind?
- For the most part, but I do have reservations here and there.

23. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
- When I had a hole in my right hand.

24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
- Thus far... my grandfather dying.

25. Who have you hugged today?
- Brandon. I would have hugged the lady at Costco, but she was behind a counter.

26. Who has done something today to show they care about you?
- I suppose my dad and Brandon have. Haven't seen my mom yet today since she left for work before I got up.

27. Do you have a lot to learn?
- Who doesn't? Even if I lived to be 1000 years old, I'd still only know a millionth of a percent of what there is to know.

28. If you could learn how to do three things just by wishing and not by working what would they be?
- Speak every language and know how to sail a tall ship with only myself and 3 friends as the crew.

29. Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?
- The last one, probably.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship?
- Friendship, similar senses of humor and values, varying interests coupled with an openness for each other's hobbies and likes, understanding and honesty, knowing what turns the other on, a willingness to bend in order to make the other happy, and finally love.

31. What 3 things do you want to do before you die?
- Travel the world, publish a book, and maybe, just maybe... have a child.

32. What three things would you want to die to avoid doing?
- I don't understand the question. It's not like I'm going to be handed a crack pipe and to keep myself from lighting it shoot myself in the face.

33. Is there a cause you believe in more than any other cause?
- Allowing gays and lesbians to be married if they want to be. It's absurd that people think of homosexuals as lesser people.

34. What does each decade make you think of:

The 19..

20's: The Depression in '29, flappers, prohibition, the Roaring '20s

30's: GREAT burlesque and cabaret, freakshows, the resistance, comic book heroes fighting Hitler, Indiana Jones, Coney Island, all of the things in the Musee Mecanique

40's: WWII, Rosie the Riveter, dropping the bombs on Japan

50's: I Love Lucy, all of the "World of Tomorrow" innovations

60's: Civil rights fights, protests, marijuana, change, bad cartoons, Berkeley, women's lib, Star Trek

70's: Classic rock, disco, bellbottoms, platform shoes, roller-disco, Afro-puffs, weird TV shows, bad kung fu movies, even worse hair, grindhouse movies, Star Wars

80's: Mullets, punks, teen movies

90's: A mixture of everything before that and everything I can remember about my childhood.

2000 (so far): Insanity. My 20s.

2010's: ???

What this means is they stand in a little tube and their molecules are deconstructed and sent to another tube somewhere else where they are reassembled. Only problem is when the molecules are deconstructed the person is dead. When they are put back together it is only a clone that has all the dead person's memories. So...

Took me all of 3 minutes to write it out. Then I had to check for typos since I couldn't delete them right away hitting Backspace.

It looks pretty handy, but I keep wondering how nice this is going to be if you have a car with these during a rainstorm and you need to get in and out quickly or something.

Meh?

Seriously, at the time, it would have taken me a hell of a lot longer to try and write it all out so it read like there wasn't a problem.

What a strange fucking bug. Hasn't happened again since I restarted after that post.

When I was 18, I dated a 30-year-old.

And when I was in high school, my boyfriend was 3 years older than I and he kept thinking people would call him a child molester for it.

Matters of the heart are really tricky and they never seem to follow any logic. You'll promise yourself one thing and then someone comes along and destroys that.

Seriously, if she's only 2 years younger than you, just let go of your reservations and see if she's interested. Better to swallow your pride and be happy on this one. Stick to your guns on political views and other more serious things.

Apparently there's a second half to the last one.

101. What does happiness/joy feel like physically?
- Orgasmic, duh.

102. List five people you love starting with the one you love the absolute most.

(I have no real order to these and there are more people I love than just 5, so yeah. Really, Brandon and my parents are on the same level of love)
A. Brandon
B. Mom
C. Dad
D. Christina
E. Jaynie

103. How many movies have you gone to see this month?
- It's still early. I've seen 8 movies I haven't seen before on DVD, though.

104. If you could have 3 wishes...but none of them could be for yourself, what would you wish for?

1. I truly wish that Bob's son, Michael, will get better and be able to learn how to walk again.

2. For my parents to die peacefully of extreme old age and not for the illnesses they've both gone through this past year.

3. World peace, I guess.

105. In what ways do you relax and de-stress when you are really tense?
- Drive somewhere with Brandon and vent about it over a meal usually helps me drop the issue for a little while and when I pick it up again, I've calmed down. Otherwise, if that's not available, post about it on the board, surf the net, or go to sleep.

106. How much money would it take to get you to drive to school naked in the springtime and get out of the car?
- I doubt I'd do it at any reasonable price.

107. Have you ever killed an animal?
- Nothing other than insects.

108. Have you ever lost someone close to you?
- My grandfather's been the closest to me who's passed away.

109. What do you think of cloning?
- I don't really have an opinion on it.

110. Do you read or watch TV more often?
- It's about even if you count reading novellas online. And reading news stories online rather than watching the news on TV.

111. With all this talk of terrorism going around are you willing to sacrifice rights and freedoms for increased safety?
- It truly bothers me that in order to feel safe, we have to cage ourselves. However I'd rather not go through shit, fighting over this with government officials and getting arrested or put on "No fly" lists because I'm pissed about having to take my shoes off before a flight.

112. What is the punishment you would come up with for Osama Bin Laden if you caught him alive?
- Doing anything to him would just prove to his followers that we're brutes and make him a martyr. Plus doing anything to him would violate the Geneva Convention. I'd turn him over to the authorities, tell him that his actions are wrong, but I forgive him, and never think of him again.

113. Have you ever named an individual part of your body?
- I had a bruise once that I named Merv.

114. Have you ever been on the radio or on TV?
- Yes, both. But for TV, it was just that I appeared in the background of a few shots on the news or something.

115. Have you ever won a lottery, or sweepstakes?
- Never won either.

116. Have you ever won a contest or competition?
- Art competitions in elementary school, writing/editing competitions in college.

117. Do you like to watch The Joy of Painting show with Bob Ross (check out this link if you don't know who he is. Also please note me if you notice the link is broken) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross_(painter)?
- I just find it amusing that he paints "happy, little trees" as he calls them.

118. Do you know what your grandparents and your great grand parents did for a living?
- Only on my mom's side.

119. Is there anything really interesting in your family history?
- My mom's dad was a Filipino freedom fighter during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. He had tons of great stories doing that. Supposedly on my dad's side there's various war heroes.

120. Is there anyone you trust completely?
- There are a few peeps.

121. Have you ever lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye?
- A few people.

122. How do you feel about women in politics?
- Why should I feel anything? Women are equal to men and they should be there without any thought as to why.

123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool?
- Outdoor pool, though the other is also tempting.

124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about on your own?
- Philosophy, American roadside attractions and some points of history and interest, cultural mythologies. There's more if I can ever remember.

125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent?
- I'm relatively above average.

126. Would you consider yourself to be wise?
- To a certain extent. Wisdom comes with experience and there are many things I can't speak for myself on.

- Given, no. Received, yes.

128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person?
- Several.

129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring?
- I highly doubt there's anything good to find in L.A.'s train line.

130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you?
- To do so and know you're doing it to someone else is pretty evil.

131. Can you finish any of the following lyrics?

A: Nothing to kill or die for...
- And no religion too.

B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher...
- Not sure.

C: I could make a film and make you my star...
- You'd be a natural the way you are. I would like you on a long black leash.

132. Were you ever with someone while they died?
- I've watched people die from afar, but I was never with anyone when they died. My grandfather died while I was in another part of the hospital.

133. Would you rather be a world political leader or a rock star?
- Rock star.

134. Have you ever given someone a love letter that you wrote?
- Yes.

135. Have you ever sent someone a surprise though the mail?
- Nothing outside of presents.

136. Are you looking forward to any concerts right now?

- I have compilations of ska, Celtic rock, Dr. Demento, and random rock songs from the '70s. The list on here would be too long.

139. What do you think is the most amazing thing that anyone has ever accomplished?
- Not sure. Winning a Nobel Prize doesn't exactly seal that deal with since anyone can get nominated if a college professor writes a letter saying they deserve one.

140. What could a member of the opposite sex do to impress you?
- Display any amazing amount of compassion and intelligence.

141. About how many emails do you get a day?
- Around 25, most of it newsletters and press releases.

How many of those emails are junk mail?
- Maybe 5 of them.

How many of them are forwards?
- Gina's the only one who sends me those. Depends on her mood at work. I might get none when she's busy. I might get 30 when she's pissed at someone.

142. What's your favorite thing to do online besides write in your diary and hang out at this site?
- Ha! I write reviews for some sites, I suppose.

143. Do you believe Kurt Cobain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain) killed himself or was it a conspiracy?
- Don't care.

144. Have you ever though about hitchhiking across the country?
- I've thought about it, but then reason takes over.

147. If you are single, at about what age do you think you will be ready to settle down and get married? If you are married, how old were you at the time?

150. What is your quest?
- I seek the Holy Grail. OK, OK. Perfection of the soul.

151. What is louder and more annoying: 200 adults talking or one four-year-old screaming?

152. Do you believe the stories about planes, boats and people mysteriously disappearing into the Bermuda triangle?
- Don't know.

153. Who are you the most jealous of?
- If I remember right, there were these kids on the Travel Channel that got to go all over the world and all they had to do was blog about their experiences. They were TERRIBLE at it and they always just had meaningless drama with each other. I absolutely hated them because I wanted to get to do what they're doing and they were fucking it up.

154. What is the happiest way you can start your day?
- Happiest? Getting up early to a really good cup of coffee with a hazelnut creamer or something of the like, check the 'net for places to go and directions there and know that that day Brandon and I were going to go somewhere cool.

155. Do you ever have moments where you feel like everything is all right in the world?
- There've been a few of those in my life.

- I'd be a better tour guide.

158. Have you ever had a spiritual experience (an experience that cannot be explained by science)?

- Not really, but sometimes there are things that are just hard to take as a joke.

- I'd thought about it.

- I'd make my cat pose for an innumerable amount of cat macro pictures for me.

173. What star sign are you and what is your sign like?

187. Have you ever been inside an abandoned building?
- Yes.

188. Under what circumstances would you agree to work for free?

Bet you're well-rested.

Well Logos brought it up, but there is always the method of going a little at a time. I remember reading that Benjamin Franklin started cutting the amount of time he slept be 5 minutes every so often 'til he was operating on 5 hours of sleep a night.

Perhaps if you just baby-stepped it, you could get back to a schedule you like.

So after the holidays and blowing a wad of cash on a birthday present for the boyfriend person, I'm feeling the oh-so-fucking-broke blues.

Just got word that the Silent Movie Theater in L.A.'s doing a tribute to "Metropolis" tonight and got a 95-year-old organ player, you played the music for the movie when it came out in the late '20s, to come in tonight to play for the crowd.

One of those rare opportunities that's somewhat spiffy.

$13.

Only have $12.08 in the bank.

I've got some cash, but this would also involve taking a few trains and a bus to this theater.

Hopefully my birthday next week will yield some funds.
