They're releasing the toy in the near future.

Gothamist has the scoop (and pics): http://gothamist.com/2008/02/19/the_cloverfield.php

I didn't remember the monster being that... skinny. Or pasty.

Yeah.

Often when the toys are released, they give away more than the movie producers intended (Grendel's mother's true form was revealed in the Beowulf toy line, etc), but I don't really see this giving much away.

Free ebook of John Scalzi's Old Man's War.

Details on his site: http://scalzi.com/whatever/?p=358

You have to sign up for Tor's newsletter, but supposedly afterwards you can get the entire book for free online.

So despite it being intangible, fuck today.

Just fuck it.

Right in its nonexistent ear.

Missed both of my buses on the way to school.

Had a quiz in stats, which wasn't bad. Pretty sure I did all right on it.

Somehow ran up a $200 tab at Costco.

Since my dad got the driver's seat jammed in such a way that I'm pressed against the wheel, my legs were ridiculously cramped.

All of the restaurants Brandon and I were going to see about going to because Brandon heard about them online were closed... forever.

Hit every red light on the way home.

Got a speeding ticket. Was doing 55 in a 40. Didn't even fight it. Practically laughed at the traffic cop. A nerd who spoke really mumbled and quickly. Perhaps he was considered borderline autistic? Poor sap has to sit in the dark on his bike and wait for people like me to tear through his beat.

On the way home, was almost rear-ended by someone who was trying to do 80 in a 35.

Some days just suck.

Oh well.

I'm alive. I gave Brandon a few hugs when we got home. Almost too cheerfully walked into my parents room to tell them about the ticket.

Either way, I'll be having a blast tomorrow.

That is if you believe they're the real deal, of course.

http://cgi.befr.ebay.be/CLOUS-AYANT-SERVIS-A-CRUCIFIER-LE-CHRIST_W0QQitemZ320219417800QQihZ011QQcategoryZ358QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They're going for 500 Euro right now, or you can do the instant buy for 10,000 Euro.

I like what Boing Boing said regarding the auction: "Be warned that the nails are in poor condition and would need to be straightened and de-rusted before you could reuse them in a carpentry or woodworking project."

EDIT: Here's the page translated a little using Google's page translator:

Went to the screening last night. I liked it a lot. Thought it was really cute.

The little girl (yes, girl) who plays Stephen Chow's son is really good. She's very expressive and sweet.

I warn you, though, if you're expecting another Shaolin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle, you may be disappointed. It's a good movie, but it's a different sort of movie. Seeing CJ7 expecting it to center around Stephen Chow, martial arts, or anything like that, you'd be in the same boat with the Kevin Smith fans who went to see Jersey Girl thinking Jay and Silent Bob were going to jump out of nowhere with dick and weed jokes.

Well, they seem to primarily be based in Japan, but you know, it's really never too early.

Then again with 4Chan on the rise in their hitting the streets against Scientology around the country, there's no telling where this Internet meme will pop up next. We're probably too late.

Which amuses me to no end that the International Crusade for Holy Relics has been battling to have it removed from eBay.

And yet someone was able to sell a 10-year-old cheese sandwich that supposedly had an image of the Virgin Mary on the bread. It was going for $10,000 at some point, but in the end after going through the bids of people who were actually going to put money down for the sandwich, it went for $71.

EDIT: I edited the original post to include a link to see the eBay auction in English, or as close to it as the Google page translator could get.

BUMPED!

Just trying to keep these things together.

Found a blog that's keeping track of the reported progress of the third Mummy movie:
http://mummy-3-trailer.blogspot.com/

Turns out the story's taking place in China this time around. Not bad, it could work HOWEVER the actors playing Evelyn and Alex are different. No Rachel Weisz.

The title they've chosen, sans numbers, is The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and will feature Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan combine forces against Collin Chou. Where can it go wrong?

Also featured is the ultra-cute Liu Yifei.

How can they promise this? Did they breed a whole bunch of this little guys and rub them in the faces of highly allergic folks?

So would you get a refund if it didn't work?

I'm so confused.

Oh, yeah, something people can put in their pets now for when they're lost or run away. If someone finds your pet, takes them to a vet and the animal is scanned the microchip can tell them the name and address of the owner.

Trouble is, if someone takes your cat or dog (perhaps thy found it on the street, etc), if they don't know there's a microchip, they can just keep the animal and no one would be the wiser.

Microchips don't work like GPS. You can't just turn on a tracking system and, boom, you know where your cat is. It really all depends on the kindness of who finds it first.

Before anyone else steps in to point it out, there's a Layout Request thread in the General Art forum. Found here: http://board.xeogaming.net/thread.php?id=2992

Trouble is, I don't think anyone is really following it and making layouts.

I'm not very good at making layouts myself. I mean, I could try if you like, but you'd be better off with someone else.

Rebel Without a Cause is in he DVD player. I can't figure out what people love so much about this movie. It's probably just the James Dean fanatics.

The movie also cements my dislike for anything Natalie Wood has ever done. She's the Liv Tyler of the '50s.

Since Brandon and I got some other movies from the library, I may switch this out for either Man from La Mancha, Kung Fu Mah Jong 2, or a collection of German horror films from the '30s.

From last night through today we watched Kung Fu Hustle, Green Snake Big Boobs Buster (seriously this wasn't a porn and we were sold on the idea that it might be a funny Japanese film. Japanese it was. Entertaining at all? Nope), and Shadow of the Vampire.

Yeah I'm not really a fan of the whole American-teenager-goes-back-in-time-somehow storyline that was ridiculously played out with the Kid in King Arthur's Court/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III generation.

I was entirely excited about this movie until I made that discovery about the "lost traveler" character.

Oh well, I'm just amused to see this match-up. Should still be entertaining.

Sorry, Gaara, I had to delete your layout. For some reason it was starting to break up the tables.

In the end, I'm sure she doesn't have a male member, but damn does the video not make a person wonder.
