The commonly-held belief is that children who nurse much longer than necessary become geniuses. Others say that these children also become intuitive and sensitive.
Other benefits include a close motherly bond, the child receives antibodies from the mother which has also led to the belief that nursing also helps fight off diabetes, respiratory problems, autoimmune thyroid diseased, obesity, SIDS, bacterial meningitis, celiac disease, and many, many other diseases, disorders and such. Breast-feeding is also cost-effective. Not as much money spent on formula, although there are pumps and other expenses should mothers choose to utilize them. Now with all this in mind, there is the thought that breast-feeding past the age of 5 also produces confused ideas of sexuality (specifically in little boys) and there has been some recent theories that breast-feeding increases the chances of breast cancer. In nature, a mother only nurses until her offspring are able to feed themselves. Worldwide, the average weaning age is 4. Do you feel that breast-feeding past age 5 is coddling a child? What are your thoughts? P.S. Despite trying to keep an open-mind watching the above video, I couldn't help but feel slightly disturbed. P.P.S. I have yet to find a solid source that states that breast-feeding increases I.Q. and I'm certainly not going to buy it as fact from sites that are all about breast-feeding. They're obviously going to stack the deck in their favor. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-03-08 02:14 AM) |

This looks absolutely beautiful.
According to a few sources it'll have a limited release in the U.S. starting this April. If you can't figure out the story from the trailer it's pretty much little girl who's in a hospital meets a bedridden boy who tells her a story that reflects what's going through his head. Eventually the real world becomes intertwined and so goes the story. |

Just finished watching Kush Kush Hota Hai and am now watching Sun giu yu gwai. The first was a Bollywood movie, pretty much about this guy realizing he was in love with his best friend from college. The second is a Chinese film that seems to be about some oddball people who fall for each other.
Zoso/Brandon's watching "Cooking with Coolio," and I'm kinda paying more attention to that than the movie. EDIT: Am watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles season finale now. Meh, it's all right. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-07-08 04:22 AM) |

Some leaked footage, possibly a screen test: http://defamer.com/357717/where-the-wild-things-are-screen-test-captures-smell-of-childhood-in-a-bottle
Some parents are concerned, based on other scenes that have leaked (though I haven't seen them myself), of how adult the movie might be for children. When I posted above is beyond safe, but rumor has it the other bits that have gotten out feature much more gore than is necessary. I'll have to find it. Seems like every time I try, though, it's already been taken down due to terms of service violations. |

All right, I'm giving this a shot. I don't know much about Dragaera so feel free to PM me with additions and what have you.
Name: Zirym Race: Dragaeran House: Orca Age: 753 Description: A quartermaster in the Imperial Navy, Zirym rose in the ranks after her superiors realized she would do practically anything to anybody were she instructed to do it. Recognized for her ferocity in battle and a generally cold nature, she was brought up to command the men when not in battle and co-currently left in charge of rations, weapons, and supplies (much to the chagrin of those beneath her as Zirym's extended family are known for being shrewd bankers). Unwed, generally in self-enforced isolation, and believed by many to be cold-hearted, rarely does Zirym interact with anyone outside of a professional level. In the end, she wishes she were free but finds too many responsibilities attached to her. Zirym stands at a good 6'7" with long brown hair that's usually tied behind her head in a severe bun of gathered braids. EDIT: Height change. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-05-08 02:49 PM) |

Now I wasn't sure how tall people were, what the world's environment is like or any of it. When I was reading the description for Orcas it mentioned they're often short. | ||||||||

I put on another foot. Or is that still too midget-like for Dragaera?
I kinda like the idea of a short female, known for being one tough bitch being left in charge. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-05-08 02:54 PM) |

So I realized yesterday that my stats teacher REALLY doesn't like being asked questions in regards to tests and homework. Niiiiice.
Couldn't sleep too well last night for various reasons. |

I read the 3 volumes of Densha Otoko. Oddly enough I like the movie better. I know there are two different manga for Densha, I think this is the one Viz put out for the movie.
I'm halfway through the seven issues of Marvel's Civil War. Pretty good. |

I hit the library and went through a bunch of different movies last night.
Am currently watching Annie Get Your Gun. Just finished Jeuk Sing (Kung Fu Mahjong), Tron and Star Trek: Nemesis. |

I'm almost ashamed by this. And I thought it was sad when I had actually already seen nine-tenths of the things the "Internet People" video.

This has been going around for a bit with regards to people who have this rather tenuous and unexplainable hold on possessions.
POSSESSED from Martin Hampton on Vimeo. I know I can be pretty bad when it comes to keeping some things for sentimental value no matter how worthless they are as well as being a collector, but I'm not at the level of--ahem--"dedication" as these folks. Then again being constantly broke does sort of put a damper on impulse buying for the sake of impulse buying. |

As I was saying in IMs, I'm really curious to see what they do for Dr. Manhattan.
Last month Zack Snyder wrote in the Watchmen blog that the movie was finally in the can. Not sure if he meant that all the scenes they wanted done were shot or if they're completely done with post-production. But a March '09 release date? C'mon, that's torture. Anyway, the Comedian, Nightowl and Rorschach look really good. I wonder if the pattern on Rorschach's face will change throughout the movie to match his emotion. Ozymandias looks interesting. A bit young, but that might be for the flashbacks. Silk Spectre looks all right, but isn't her daughter more prevalently in the story? It would be cool if this were Silk Spectre II since her costume was pretty much a yellow raincoat in the comic. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-09-08 03:02 PM) |

So I'm a little irked.

Fuck you, random guy in the computer lab who's always fucking with the computer behind mine. Your USB card doesn't work. It's never worked. Stop jamming it in holes it's not going to fit in, because well, they're docks for other things (headphones, printers, etc). You're accomplishing nothing but shaking the table, kicking me under the table when you're frustrated, and irritating the rest of us. Fuck you, hypocritical vegan whom I used to work with and still run into on occasion. I'm tired of your preachiness. Your holier-than-thou attitude. Most especially your absurd duscussions of fish you like to chow down on when you get sushi with your hipster friends. Fuck you, guy in my stats class. We all already know you took the class before and failed and that's why you're able to get homework and other things done first--BECAUSE YOU'VE ALREADY SEEN THE FUCKING MATERIAL. Stop acting like a child prodigy at math. Furthermore stop using your fake crying routine to pick up girls in the class. You've been using the "My girlfriend just dumped me, would you mind getting a drink with me?" pity-date request for the past 3 months. It's old. Fuck you, fangirls. I used to proudly call myself one before the term was really popularized thinking it was just a cute way of saying I like to geek out on various things. Now as I see the screaming hordes of chicks who mostly just like something because it's either popular, is headed by a good-looking man, or what have you. Things like Firefly, Naruto (not that I was particularly into it), Rocky Horror Picture Show, Marvel, Harry Potter, Death Note, Battle Royale, Avatar, and (slowly but surely) Heroes have been ruined by your brand of wank. Please don't take further steps to taint Neil Gaiman, Stephen Chow, and Watchmen as well. Fuck you, Whisky A Gogo security guard from last night. I get you're trying to close up, but quit following me around the damn venue saying I can't take pictures in one area or another. There's a show in progress, pal. My friends and boyfriend are up there. I'm the damn photographer and roadie, and they're making their debut on the Sunset Strip. I'm not going to be ruining your plans of leaving early by standing in the balcony to take a couple panoramic shots. It's a shame you couldn't be more like the other guards who were quite cordial and helped carry things in with us. |
