And he got a quick breakfast in.

Tips for getting pants and a tie on quickly or while doing other things. Sure, it might be faster to just do it the old fashioned way, but where's the fun in that?

It just got the number of votes it needed in the House, and it's on its way to Obama who's getting his pen ready.

Thoughts?

For the non-Americans, how's the healthcare in your nation?

Facebook is an odd thing. You get a sneak preview of your high school reunion, taking away the surprise.

Just found out my high school best friend is married. I found out my other HS best friend is gay.

Go, Jerry Brown! Sic 'em, boy!

I am so voting for him for governor.

Poizner and the eBay chick can duke it out for second place.

So I bashed open my knee today. Brandon said the bloody mess looked like meat. Got stitched up, and now I can't bend my knee for 2 weeks.

The whole affair cost me 85 cents (for the Vicodin).

Heading out on a road trip tomorrow. Going to do the Renaissance faire in Arizona, do some light hiking, visit some ghost towns and all that. Limping the whole way, but I don't care.

Ha! I didn't know about Deviantart. My avatar was changed to "Team Jacob" with a gif of Taylor Lautner shirtless. I could think of worse things to happen.

The only thing I've noticed so far is that YouTube replaced Ceiling Cat for the icon used for videos that don't exist any more.

As for April Fools, well, I've never really been one to celebrate it, and I've fallen for some rather cruel ones (Someone: "My grandma died today" Me: "I'm so sorry! Oh my god." *Starts crying out of empathy* Other person: "April fools, I got you, HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"), but it can be amusing when it comes to what people are doing to their Web sites.

In retrospect, a lot of shit happened yesterday that I wish were just April Fools jokes, but unfortunately weren't.

Let's just say the clerks at the Bellflower Courthouse are catty, smug cunts full of excuses and blame everyone but themselves if something isn't entered into the system. And Christina's new roommate is a drugged-up gang member.

EDIT: Regarding the Bellflower clerks. That wasn't an issue I personally was having, but rather Brandon. Ugh...

I've been seeing them around, but apparently they have filters now so it's OK.

Either way, I've been seeing them sold on the reservations, so they're still to be had.

Did anyone feel like spring break went way too fast? I woke up at 5 this morning to write an 8 page paper on my teacher's opinions of two books we had to read. Seriously. His opinion.

Editing videos from Lebowski Fest now for the Web site. Still need to write VO script.

Getting ready for opening weekend at faire. Shelby left Sound & Fury, by the way. Not that S&F was going to be at faire this year anyway. Shelby'll be there, though.

Anaheim Comic Con is on deck after that. While this stuff is fun, it's been transformed into work. D;

Ugh.. fuck having to write an 8-page paper on what MY PROFESSOR thinks of two books we had to read for his class. I just wrote my own analysis.

In the process of writing a BS paper, I'd forgotten to do a take-home midterm for another class. Thankfully the teacher of that class was VERY understanding (possibly because she doesn't like the professor who assigned the previously mentioned essay) and said she would let me make it up next week with a few points subtracted.

Fuck my inability to sleep in. It seems like no matter what time I finally get to sleep, I wake up at 8 a.m. Even when I wake up, thinking it's 8, I try to go back to sleep and when I finally get up, I'll check the time and realize I woke up at 7:50 or something. I'm not getting enough sleep. Even with thick curtains drawn, I can't seem to wake up after 8:30.

Huh, time to post something happy.

I got my stitches out a couple days ago. Can't kneel on that knee yet, and I have trouble with stairs, but I'm not limping while walking on even surfaces anymore.

My mom went in to get another breast lump checked out and was told it hasn't grown any bigger since they started monitoring it in October. Even though I'm concerned about the lump, it's not growing as voraciously as cancer tends to.

We went to faire yesterday. Had great interviews with Stu from the Boggards and had this great interview with Shelby and Todd in the meadow sitting close together.

I'm very thankful for the way this school year has been, even with a few of the bumps. I've interviewed and met so many interesting and amazing people and covered so many different events. I got drunk for the first time in my life, had to get stitches for the first time, learned to throw knives, spoke at USC, got dyhydrated and sunstroked and was saved by surfers, went on several roadtrips and covered practically a convention every month. And on top of it all, I made a lot of friends.

Egad, and I got a Facebook.

I know, right? Oddly enough, the thought of it in general sounds amusing (but not when it you hear it REALLY happened).

Seemed like all of the people I showed this to initially laughed, even uncomfortably.

To think of a child in pain after having been mauled as such is downright disturbing, and I hope he's OK.

It's been a really busy week.

I'm currently covering Anaheim Comic Con.

Pretty cool. Saw Stan Lee, Shatner, Mickey Rooney, most of the old "Batman" TV show cast had a reunion. Julie Newmar is HOT and has a glowing personality. It's just been insane.

"CSI: Miami" was being shot at our school. I had to cover it.

It's also apparently Brandon's and my anniversary.

While it didn't quite match up with the book, especially regarding Kick-Ass' love life, I'd say it was definitely better than the book.

You'll just watch it for Hit-Girl. Kick-Ass, himself, is practically a supporting character in his own movie.

Welcome to Mark Millar's universe. His stuff tends to be so condescending and inexplicable.

I have to write a review about this thing, and well, I keep defaulting to trying to explain out what you see on the screen from what's given in the book.

First off, Kick-Ass never follows the standard hero story structure that's been fully captured for us by Joseph Campbell in "Hero With a Thousand Faces." That being, he receives the call to action, loses his mentor, and then carries on an important battle or journey alone (with little or no assistance).

Kick-Ass, in the book, just decides to start dressing up as a hero and work on iconic poses, then eventually work on fighting crime just for shits. In the movie, they wrote in he and his friend getting mugged before he decides to make the transformation along this peeve about people watching bad things happen and not helping.

The one who actually DOES follow the hero's journey is Hit-Girl.

The movie has a completely different origin for her and Big Daddy than is in the book (that being Big Daddy created this idea that the mob had killed Hit-Girl's mother so that they could go on a Punisher-like quest for vengeance just for fun with his daughter. They had NO connection with the mob).

Pretty much the whole killing without repercussion follows the book entirely. You're just supposed to think of Big Daddy and Hit-Girl as though they're Frank Castle (Millar even freaking compares the two in the book. Ugh..)

I guess the validation that Mark Millar was looking for when creating the two killing machines was, "If Punisher can do it, I can too." Then again when you get things like "Punisher Warzone," where Punisher completely lacks any humanity to begin with, you get things like this.

I have a love/hate relationship with Mark Millar honestly. More hate than squishy, fuzzy good feelings about him and his work, though.

Zing! And agreed.

It almost feels like Broadway/musical theatre and Rock Band are mirroring each other? Beatles, now Green Day? Granted all the Beatles musicals came before the Rock Band game...

I'd actually love to see a Metallica musical. They worked pretty well with the symphony.
