Fuck finals at this point. At least fuck having to make a VO/SOT/VO and do stand-up, and all that shit. Since I don't have Final Cut, this means having to freaking work in the office.

Bring on the weekend! No seriously, bring it the fuck on. Got some awesome sauce lined up for Saturday.

Also, fuck sexism and racism in this day and age. Are you freaking kidding me?

Welcome to our board, AlexAnyways.

I used to frequent Vizzed nearly 7 years ago. Whoa, do I sure feel old writing that.

And Xeogred was an admin back then, under the handle MasterSephiroth.

Well, hope to see more of you.

Watching a bootleg copy of "Not For Ourselves Alone," a documentary on Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, for my Women in America final which I'm taking around 2 p.m.

Still need to write a paper. ARGH.

I've heard a few things. Nothing bad. It's been a few years since the last time I dropped by Vizzed.

Heh, boredom is generally the fuel the Internet runs on. If I weren't bored I wouldn't have a Facebook, Gaia, or Friendster account.

People still use Internet Exploder?

Apparently a lot of things on sites don't even show up using IE because everyone's busy formatting things so they look good on Firefox, Safari, etc.

Stuck in the office right now, waiting for videos to render. Looks like another 45 minutes to go.

This has been, by far, the most fascinating, depressing, challenging, exciting, agonizing, rewarding, *insert ANY adjective ... no, seriously* school year of my life. I've never interviewed so many people, put so many pages together, covered so many events, met so many people, got so many stitches (well, I'd never had them before), been so drunk, gone to so many parties, taken and stuck with so many classes, and all that.

And in the converse of it, I've never been so stressed, so tired, so depressed. I'd never cried so much, contemplated suicide so often (not seriously, but you know...), or even gained so much weight while also being more active (how the hell did THAT happen?).

I'm looking forward to a couple months of doing nothing. It's probably going to be my last summer vacation, and damn it if I didn't earn it.

It seems like the "girly drinks" are not necessarily the mixers, but those that you don't really taste the alcohol (Midori sour, starburst, adios motherfucker, etc). They tend to be more fruity or creamy (a white russian can be considered one, but usually isn't, but a mudslide tends to be).

Just had this e-mailed to me. And even though I should be writing a 4-page paper as part of my final, I'm bored enough to fill it out.

1. Do you like Blue cheese dressing?
- I guess. It depends on who made it. Some are REALLY good.

2 . Have you ever smoked a cigarette?
- Yes.

3. Do you own a gun?
- Not yet.

4. What flavor Kool-Aid was your favorite?
- I don't drink enough Kool-Aid to make an informed decision on that.

5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointment?
- Well, yeah.

6. What do you think of hot dogs?
- Like donuts and ice cream, they seem to be the center of the culinary world in terms of how much random crap people feel OK with putting on them. Seriously, gold flakes, Tahitian pearls, AND wrapped in bacon? Curse you, Los Angeles.

7. Favorite Christmas Movie?
- Don't have one. I tend to be anti-Christmas movies, I guess.

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
- The tears of lost children... er, um... Coke.

9. Can you do push ups?
- I used to be able to. Probably not any more.

10. What's your favorite piece of jewelry?
- My tiger's eye skull necklace. If only I could find it.

11. Favorite Hobby?
- Does finding-things-to-do-slash-see-that-make-life-interesting count? No? Well there's just no pleasing you is there? Uh.. going to conventions, collecting comics, throwing knives, and hiking.

12. Do you have A.D.D?
- No. But then again, I've never been analyzed.

13. Do you wear glasses/contacts?
- Yes, but I don't always wear them.

14. Middle name?
- Marie.

15. What are you thinking about at this moment?
- "How the hell am I going to survive finals?!"

16. Name 2 or 3 drinks you regularly drink?
- Coke, cranberry tea, and water (if I remember to drink more of it).

17. Current worry: Finals.

18. Current hate right now?
- My old job.

19. Favorite place to be?
- There's a few: at a convention, in a museum, in San Francisco.

20. How did you bring in the New Year?
- I was at a party with workmates. Brandon was at a party with his bandmates. My party was more unhindered drinking.

21. Where would you like to go right now?
- See #19.

22. 3 people who will complete this?
- No idea. I always hate these questions when they're written into a meme.

23. Do you own slippers?
- I think so. People keep giving them as gifts, but I never wear them.

24. What color shirt are you wearing?
- Black.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?
- WTF?

26. Where are you now?
- On Brandon's computer, in my room.

27. Would you be a pirate?
- Well, I can be dressed as one in a few minutes, but I don't have a cutlass. Only a rapier.

28. What songs do you sing in the shower?
- I do not sing in the shower. I do in the car, though.

29. Favorite Girl's Name?
- Hmm, I really don't know. I really dislike a lot of modern girl's names: McKinsey, Skyler, Torrance, Riley, Dixon, Sid, Alex, Shay, etc. Stop giving girls boy names because it's ironic! Or however you choose to justify this nonsense.

Girls' names I like: Isolde, Marina, Gwen, Sirena, Aurora, and Kylie.

30. Favorite boy's name?
- It used to be Tristan, but I think it's Varian and Raynor now. I've been reading way too many fantasy stories apparently.

31 . What is in your pocket right now?
- Spare change, a couple loose dollar bills, a bottle cap for an microbrew root beer, my phone, a voice recorder, and a couple grocery receipts.

32. Last thing that made you laugh?
- The e-mail I got from our paper's adviser asking me to come to tomorrow's banquet.

33. What vehicle do you drive?
- Occasionally a Toyota, and sometimes a Volvo.

34. Worst injury you've ever had?
- Thus far, it would probably be when I bashed open my knee on the escalator earlier this year. Got 8 stitches, and couldn't bend my knee for weeks.

35. Do you love where you live?
- Yes ... and no. It's home, but I wish it were in a different city.

36. How many TVs do you have in your home?
- 3.

I know, right. I started when I was 18 and now I'm 25. We're completely different people from when we started. Sad part is I'm only now finishing college, but this after transferring out of a city college and into a university a couple years ago. Thankfully, it seems like most other people in college these days aren't that much younger.

Anyway, then : I was 18, just out of a long-term, long-distance relationship (of 4 years and some change since it lingered for a really long time), fresh out of high school, had just spent a couple weeks in Europe, and I had pretty much just started at Long Beach City College and on a whim went with journalism as a major.

Hadn't really gone on any crazy roadtrips without my parents yet, had just started getting back into conventions (went to them when I was 14 and started going to Comic-Con and Anime Expo earlier that year), I'd never been drunk (despite having drunk a lot), never had stitches, never had sex, never really been in love (at least now as I look back on it, I hadn't REALLY been), and I was still pretty new to this whole life without fences thing.

I felt like I had more freedom (since I could come and go from school as I pleased), and was just starting to make new friends.

Now : I'm 25. I'm living with this guy that I've been with for 6 years and going to university double majoring in journalism and American studies, one year away from graduation. I just had the craziest school year of my life where I've met and interviewed all sorts of people and seen so many amazing and unbelievable things on all of my random trips and explorations. These past few months alone, I had my life saved, had to get stitches, somehow got drunk (I wasn't the worst, though. One of my friends punched the paper towel dispenser off the wall), and have gone on so many outstanding roadtrips and gone on a lot of (mis)adventures with Brandon and others.

In the last few years, I worked on a Rocky Horror Picture Show cast, wrote and edited for a few publications, got my driver's license, a few more cats (while painfully losing a couple), took up hiking, learned to throw knives, went to dozens of conventions, hundreds of festivals and faires, had earth-shattering sex, never taken drugs, and I still don't know what I want to do with my life.

It's weird. I'd seen so many documentaries about the WBC, read several things about them, and all that.

And then I went to a MASSIVE counter-protest against them and walked up and interviewed Shirley Phelps-Roper just before the protest really took off. I even walked with her from her van, with her daughters, asking her how her father was and everything. She was REALLY, REALLY nice and even invited me to come talk to her after she put on her bloodied American flag and tattered rainbow one, which she hung from the old glory she was wearing as apron.

When I asked her why they picket these sorts of things (they were picketing a local high school at the time), she pretty much answered, "We picket, therefore we are."

The WBC isn't out to spread the good news, ask people to repent so they can save their souls, or any of it. They just go out and picket, to attract attention and try to make people feel bad. AND THAT'S IT.

Seriously, they aren't worth even discussing, because all it does is forward their message and make people mad, visit their site, and perhaps even pick fights with them.

Do you know how they get a lot of the money they use to fly around the world to picket for things? Suing people. Shirley is an attorney for the family's law firm. You fight them, say or do something particularly inappropriate (threaten violence, hit them, throw things at them, etc), they will get you in court and they will win. Somebody just tried to get them in court for mental anguish because they picketed his son's military funeral, and he ended up paying THEIR court fees.

Well, enough of this talk of them.

Thank you, Dio, for giving us an international symbol for rocking out, even though you meant it as protection from the evil eye. You rocked, good sir. We salute you.

Sorry I didn't post sooner. I was out of town for a couple days.

Nice, Katana. I completely feel you on not getting out until you're 26. Oh man, do I ever.

Do not give up hope, though, and especially NEVER stop learning. I'm 25 and just learned how to solder this weekend. I'm trying to cook up things to do with my summer so I don't veg in front of the TV or computer. I might make a stained glass window.

Never, EVER lose your curiosity or your sense of wonder. And definitely don't give up being stubborn.

In truth, I think the years have made me more bitter and cynical, but I think it's just to protect the inner me that's still a child with pure emotions who just wants to be happy with everyone.

It's been a fascinating few weeks. Last weekend we went to see a friend in a Star Trek-themed operetta, "U.S.S. Pinafore," which was adapted from the work of Gilbert and Sullivan. The next day, we ended up wandering into open studios day at the old barracks in San Pedro with Stitch and another friend. Hadn't been in a couple years.

This past week was finals, which I hope I did all right on. My broadcast teacher made us screen our videos and they really liked mine. I had a final every day. For the most part, I had to write long papers to turn in. I wrote them on the morning they were due, because I'm a procrastinator like that and just don't feel up to do something like that unless I really have to.

Friday, had a journalism banquet and walked away with seven awards. Hurried home and packed and left for the San Francisco area that night, getting to our hotel at 6 a.m. Was woken up by housekeeping around 8, and headed down to Maker Faire for the most amazing day. Spent the next day in San Francisco exploring. Came home last night around 3 a.m.

Now I'm just editing photos and enjoying doing nothing more than thinking up activities to do. Reading and making things are at the top of the list.

Anyway ... BREAK!!!

If this is real, which I still have yet to find proof that it isn't, I can't help but laugh at how pathetic this guy is. I mean, getting cheated on isn't always an indication that there's something wrong with a person. People just cheat sometimes, and it doesn't always mean they're bad people either. Unless they're one of those who do it, don't feel bad about it, and then act like dicks to their significant other ...

Anyway, getting off track. His reaction to her infidelity, and stating this is the THIRD time while he screams like an idiot is sad. I'd imagine he felt betrayed, but to reduce all women to "bitches" without analyzing went wrong is unfortunate. He should just stop dating.

Katana, it's definitely not one of those movies that loans itself to being an IMAX or even 3D movie. If you've got a cheap theater, that'll do just fine as well. Good movie, it's entertaining and all, but you don't HAVE to see it in those formats.

Reports are coming in that Patton is aware of the thievery and the student has apologized.

Apparently stealing from Patton is becoming more and more common.

This guy also stole Patton's material, as well as Louis CK's among others:

Patton wrote a long post about that guy after he received a bullshit apology from him.

There is indeed a difference.

Geek refers more to a follower of fandoms and nifty-type dealies, while a nerd is more into technical stuff and spending time edifying themselves. A dork is someone who's awkward in every which way.

Personally, I think Xeu's more adorkable.
