I've got way too much shit to do. I ended up driving the 30 miles roadtrip to school, went to one class, skipped another, drove home, wrote a 5-page paper for another class, then drove back to school to turn it in and work with my group on our project. Ended up calling someone on their bullshit (one of the group members hadn't been showing up and tried to claim being an editor on the school's paper was really bogging her down and she had to work those nights. I know for a fact that the section she's an ASSISTANT ed on doesn't have her working Wednesday nights).

So much shit to do.

Saturday I have to take my writing proficiency test. It's a university exit exam where I pretty much have to prove that I can write. Guh...

Good grief, and I've got a couple stories due on Monday.

So I finally got to watch the first episode (don't have cable, had to torrent it).

Other than the fact that they add more conversations and side stories (they probably covered the first 20 pages of the graphic novel in this episode), it's VERY close to the book in terms of the shot-by-shots.

I'm really looking forward to next week's episode.

Thoughts?

I've only read the first graphic novel (though I own the second and third, as well).

I love Robert Kirkman's other work: Invincible, Battle Pope, etc. It's hilarious, really. At Comic-Con, whenever I'd go up to Image's booth to see Robert, it was easy, because people just treated him like we was just a guy working the booth. Over the years, more and more people started coming to see him, and these days, it's like a 2-hour wait line for him. This year a quarter of their booth was dedicated just to "Walking Dead" with a massive poster advertising the TV show. His fame has really come along seemingly over night.

I'm definitely digging the show. And a lot of the other comic companies are excited because this really helps everyone else out. IDW was saying at Long Beach Comic Con this past weekend that they're looking forward to it since they're coming out with their own "Infestation" event where they're going to have the Ghostbusters, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, and Transformers characters fighting zombies. I guess they figure this will boost their sales.

Me too! I voted yes on that and I'm pretty upset that it didn't go through. We need to save our parks and beaches. And seriously $18 for a registration fee and you'll get FREE admission to these places? That's a freaking bargain! Then again I'm sure most of the people who voted don't bother with going hiking or enjoying nature.

I hope they get the money some other way.

And they are indeed still counting absentees. The race for attorney general is still too close to call. Steve Cooley's claiming victory, but all other places I've checked said it was Harris. She had my vote. I hope she wins.

Just finished watching "Zebraman." It's pretty amusing.

Pretty much this guy is a fan of this old TV show, "Zebraman." He makes himself a costume and starts fighting crime in it. As the movie goes he starts developing abilities and eventually powers.

Cross pollinate "Kick-Ass" with Japanese monster movies (particularly when you have someone like the Power Rangers fighting them) and you've got "Zebraman."

So for some reason I've had the first song from the South Park movie stuck in my head, specifically the part where Stan's mom is singing about him being a "picture perfect child. Just like Jesus, he's tender and mild, even wore a smile when he wore a thorny crown," etc.

So yeah, that.

And the entire soundtrack to the Rocky Horror Picture Show is pretty much completely dead to me now.

For some reason Ohio is the "indicator" of how people vote in elections. Analysts (and politicians) like to pay attention to FlOhPa (Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania), the swing voting states that change which way they vote with every election. Since they do that, the politicians love to go after them and make promises while the larger states like California and Texas, which tend to lock in for one side early on, get ignored.

... ugh.

What was the worst costume you saw this past Halloween?

I don't know why, but some of them actually continue to talk without batteries.

This particularly annoying girl in my office was given one and kept it on her desk. Every now and then she'd start talking to it (she named it Fur-vert). A few times I'd had to sit at her desk to work and suddenly the eyes would open and it would start babbling at me in this creepy voice.

Not sure if the batteries were in it.

I finally got back an A+ paper for something. So far I've been getting decent grades, but I've been losing confidence in my writing this semester. AND I got full points for a class presentation for my difficult theory class. The teacher wrote to say we were the best so far and we did an exceptional job.

I registered for my two academic classes next semester, but I still need to get an internship before I can register for that class.

I've just been feeling really down lately, and now I'm feeling a bit better.

Finally got around to seeing "Inception" in the cheap theater tonight. I don't understand why people were so confused regarding whose dreams they were in regarding the layered sections.

Yeah, it was definitely fun wading through the puddles of sarcastic and brilliant teenagers just outside of the theater shouting, "It was all a dream, sike!! Hahaha, stupid Matrix rip-off!!!111!!!1!!!!"

That's sort of sad. RHPS is amazing, you should never let something as retarded as Glee can be ruin something so amazing. I like Glee sometimes, but they did kinda murder Rocky Horror. Sadly. Oh well.

Well, it was more than Glee, really.

I was on a cast for more than 2 years, did a few Rocky Horror conventions, and worked on a few shows. This past weekend, my boyfriend and his band were asked to come play this Halloween event in West Hollywood this past weekend as part of a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the movie. They ended up playing most of the songs off the soundtrack and a couple out of "Shock Treatment."

But even more so, the entire night so many people played the Time Warp over and over again. We even broke the record for having the most people dance the Time Warp at the same time.

Amusingly enough, I hate Glee, but I actually liked the Rocky Horror episode. I thought this was hilarious since so many of my friends who are deeply into Glee hated that episode, and the same went for the diehard Rocky fans who also love Glee.

Yeah, the soundtrack's just been way overplayed for me lately. Fox was determined to create a massive buzz around Rocky so they'd sell their brand new Blu-Ray DVD.

Yeah, those are the numbers I've seen from the SF Gate, but I've also been checking the Secretary of State's website, which the media uses as the official count (it actually crashed and was down most of election night so they were mostly guessing, at least down here in L.A. they were).

The race for attorney general has Harris at 45.9% and Cooley at 45.7%. Here's hoping the absentees come through.

For some reason I figured they'd send you more toward the sinning part of the state, you know.. down here. Then again, we have so many people on their missions here already. Then again, my neighborhood gets more Witnesses these days.

I agree with Elara. The weather up there is usually less extreme when it comes to the heat, although it can be colder and rainier (but I prefer that. Maybe you do too?).

Heh, you get to move into a swing voting state the politicians will visit more and make more promises to. I think I'd rather live there than the other two, though (Florida and Ohio).

Sorry, Hannelore, if I come off bossy.

Between the two, I think Harris stands a better chance of filling the shoes Jerry Brown is departing for the governor's seat.

Brown was pretty tough.

This thread is designed to be the exact opposite of the "Fuck you" thread in that it's meant to specifically target others; however, this time it's for focusing on good things they've done.

The Happy Thread is a great place for positivity, but it tends to be more about situations that you are happy about in your life. This thread can address the faceless masses of people who've brought light into your world even in some small way.

Please refrain from sarcastic entries that are really just veiled Fuck yous (you know where those belong). Unlike the "Fuck you" thread, you can address anyone or anything you wish seeing as this thread is the antithesis of flaming.

If you're here to thank yourself, keep it to the Happy Thread.

So ... have at it!

----------------------------------------------------------

THANK YOU, lady who worked at McDonald's at least 7 years ago. After having a particularly bad situation with my then boyfriend that had quickly turned into verbal abuse, you comforted me, started to pray over me, and offered me a ride home. Unfortunately, the boyfriend came out and yelled at you to get away before he promptly grabbed me and drove me home, but you were there for a total stranger and even though I wasn't (and still am not) religious you were offering up to your god for me. I hope wherever you are, you're happy.

Thank you, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Ida. B. Wells, Alice Paul, and Lucy Burns. You know what you did. I wear my "I voted!" sticker because of you.

Thank you, Mrs. Smith (7th grade English and history teacher), for being the closest teacher to Miss Frizzle I've ever had, constantly taking us on field trips to museums, historic sites, and such and encouraging us to explore. When most students in our grade were stuck taking tests and sitting through lectures they slept through, we were running rampant in the streets of L.A. Even on days at school we were cooking ethnic food in the back of the room while learning about world cultures. Really makes me wish I was 12 again, honestly.
