Just got off the plane from Munich after a flight from Rome. Why'm I happy? It was a 12-hour flight and I'm finally wearing clean clothes.

Oh, and I'm back.

It's the sea kittens bullshit all over again.

While I've somewhat converted to being against keeping orcas captive in recent years (and honestly many of the things they're for or against are reasonable--not testing cosmetics on animals, anti-fur for fashion, defending mistreated animals kept for entertainment, spaying/neutering pets, etc), the ridiculous, extremist way they go about their protests is purely for spectacle it seems.

Then again, I'm just stating the obvious at this point. Dare we evoke the name of a certain Kansas-based group and crack a few comparisons between the two?

I'm finally caught up with Boardwalk Empire and Dragon Age: Redemption. Still need to stream House, Walking Dead, Hung, and anything else I might have missed in the last two weeks.

Right now watching a documentary on Sedona, which is just making me feel homesick for Arizona, which isn't REALLY my home, but I visit Sedona every winter and which I probably won't see this year.

SOURCE

OK, so it's only going to get just over 200,000 miles from Earth, but it's still pretty darn cool. They're interested in this asteroid because it's ones like it that scientists believe their collisions with Earth are responsible for our having carbon and water, and thus life.

What's really cool is the idea that we could use asteroids as watering holes, mining them for water and other materials, aiding in human colonization of the galaxy.

I know, right? I've never seen so many engrossing shows.

Well, it's 7:30 in the morning. I haven't gone to sleep yet. I'm watching The Conspirator, which I picked up at the library yesterday. I wasn't planning on watching it until today, figuring I didn't want to get into it until I've gotten some sleep and watched it was a clear mind, but yeah.. I got bored.

Anyway, the movie's about the trial of the lone accused woman conspirator in the plot to assassinate Lincoln and other Union officials, directed by Robert Redford. It's damn good so far. I'd been wanting to see it since before it came out, but I never had money to when it finally came to theaters close by, and it never hit the cheap theater.

Yeah, I'm in a similar situation, in a plan on Verizon with my parents. We're supposed to get new phones every 2 years, but when my boyfriend got put on it with us it apparently restarted our plan. So no new phone for another year and a half. Yay, Verizon!

And I can't text.

Oh I feel that.

Fuck that the cruise line charged $1/minute for Internet access, and $9/minute to call land. No cell service either.

Truly, though, it wasn't so bad not having any sort of contact with the outside world.

Then again, fuck that we couldn't use the self-service laundry room to clean our clothes because everything was shut down mid-cruise for fear of gastrointestinal illness. Bad enough that they wouldn't let us go anywhere without a person hounding us to sanitize our hands. It was suspected members of the crew brought the illness on board since they were the first to be quarantined, and fine, the pool's closed, the jacuzzis were drained, you couldn't play shuffleboard or basketball, and if you wanted a book from the library you had to ask for it and it was sanitized before being given to you. But WHY take away CLEAN CLOTHES?! Really sucked for those of us who packed light, expecting to use the machines when we needed them.

Sanitize the machines, fuckers.

I pretty much missed any good Halloween parties and events this year.

The port we were going to be in Halloween morning (Ashdod) had been rocket-bombed by people from the Gaza Strip (happy Halloween?), and we had to drive across Israel. Went swimming in the Dead Sea, then visited the Masada fort.

At night, they had a party up in the Crow's Nest bar on the top deck. I went wearing my elf ears and all the wait staff were asking if they could touch them. Since the cruise was peopled with mostly folks over 65, the party wasn't all that happening. Most of the music was non-Halloween-related oldies. Brandon requested "The Time Warp" and he and I were the only people on the dancefloor. The rest of the cruise, people were bumping into us on the ship or on the street wanting to talk about our dance.

I think I finally got my jetlag under control. I didn't go to bed the night before last until noon yesterday, woke up at 6 p.m. and then went to bed around 1:30 a.m. and woke up at 5 this morning.

Michelle's baby is coming this Friday, and the family's coming in from Arizona.

On a sadder note, I can't find my keys.

Thing is, when you're used to "soda," hearing adults say "pop" sounds silly, like it's a kids' word. No offense or anything to those here who say "pop."

But then again, seemed like the people who REALLY couldn't get over that it was anything other than what they call it were the "soda" people, so there you go.

Anyway, I cannot fucking believe I got back in the states and heard this colorful phrase used on three separate occasions in the last couple days.

The full phrase or just the first part of it?

I'd never really heard the full phrase used before, and it's a bit annoying hearing it for a third time in two days when two stockboys at the market are talking about trying to ****** rig their broken dolly.

On Tuesday morning, around 5 in the morning, I headed to Carl's Jr wanting one of those biscuits they'd been advertising on TV for a month. They said they didn't get them until Thursday.

People say "N*gger Rig" that often? Good god. I thought I was just suddenly hearing it like it was a cruel joke of fate.
