Fuck that both of the cars that Bran and I have been using while his Supra is out of commission have taken a shit. Guess we're renting now.

Just had a lunch of dim sum with large shumai, succulent har gow, egg tarts, pork soup dumplings, steamed cha siu bao, and fried pork buns that were like hot, crispy mochi. Oh god, so good.

Wow. Was the last time I filled one of these out really 2012? Fuck.

Well, here goes.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
- Page 18 doesn't have four lines on it. It just has a dialogue bubble that reads, "Uncle Gorm."

Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
- The blue, wooden skeleton wind chime hanging from the curtain rod.

Before you started this survey, what were you doing?
- Looking at Facebook and watching "Selena" on cable. Trying to relax and unwind after walking around the Huntington all day for Shakespeare Day and getting a bit sunburnt.

What is the last thing you watched on TV?
- Still watching "Selena."

Without looking, guess what time it is
- 8:20? *Looks up* It's 8:11. Should I make something for dinner? Nah, I think I'll just throw in a bag of microwave popcorn.

Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
- Ugh.. see answer to previous question.

With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
- "Selena" on TV.

When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
- Was at the Huntington, for Shakespeare Day. Watched people have sword fights, nobles dance, and of course people reciting Shakespeare. Smelled flowers, drank tea, and walked around the gardens. Then the car started acting up. Yay...

Did you dream last night?
- I did. But I don't remember much of it.

Do you remember your dreams?
- Hah. Occasionally.

When did you last laugh?
- At that last question just now.

Do you remember why / at what?
- Yes, I remember, and again it was at that last question.

What is on the walls of the room you are in?
- OK. Let's see. There's a few racks of DVDs bolted to that wall and a window with curtains that have an Indian design. Then there's our flatscreen attached to the one over there, with an antique bedwarmer, and a couple bent horse shoes we've got as coat racks. There's things like my UNIT vest, faire bodicem axe-throwing target, and a brass rubbing hanging on them. On another wall I've got a shelf with random things like whale scrimshaw and Chinese sculptures, votive candles, and tiki mugs. Above that is a golden mirror with a Turkish knife sitting on it and peacock feathers stuck in the frames. Another wall has a painting of a ship, two Indonesian masks, and a medieval grave brass rubbing I did when I was 12. Last wall has another ship painting and a signed print of a painting I got at a Dia de los Muertos festival of Frida Kahlo having sex with a skeleton, called "La Chingada."

Seen anything weird lately?
- Define weird, I guess. My life is usually on the bizarre side.

What do you think of this quiz?
- Meh?

What is the last film you saw?
- Still watching "Selena." Sorry there's no real variety here.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
- Malta.

If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
- Plane tickets. Definitely going to travel.

Tell me something about you that most people don't know.
- Hm. A bit difficult, since I usually end up posting a lot of shit about myself and there's no real secrets. Uh.... most people in the world don't even know I exist. So yeah, most people don't know my name.

If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
- I guess I'd be an asshole if I didn't say something like "world peace" or "end world hunger," but I'm going to say that wish humans could fly. At the very least, there'd be a lot less pollution from cars and planes.

Do you like to dance?
- Not in front of people.

Would you ever consider living abroad?
- Dude, go back to my answer to that other question up there.

Does your name make any interesting anagrams?
- Nope.

Who made the last incoming call on your phone?
- Brandon's mom, apparently. Missed call.

What is the last thing you downloaded onto your computer?
- Saved a photo of something.

Last time you swam in a pool?
- On the cruise Bran and I took back in September.

Type of music you like most?
- Huh.. uh.. heavy mahogany.

Type of music you dislike most?
- Depends. I've heard a lot of things I like in just about every genre. Oh, I know, songs by most pop artists these days.

Are you listening to music right now?
- Sort of. There's a lot of music in "Selena."

What color is your bedroom carpet?
- Brown. Yeeagh...

If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do?
- Climate control. We've never had air conditioning.

What was the last thing you bought?
- My rose tea from the Huntington.

Have you ever ridden on a motorbike?
- Nope.

Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?
- Maybe.

Do you have a garden?
- I occasionally have to with my clients for my job.

Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
- Yes.

What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
- "Goddamn it. It's fucking 5:44. I guess I'll stay up."

If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?
- Mark Twain.

Who sent the last text message you received?
- Probably Brandon.

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?
- Cost Plus World Market, probably.

What time is bed time?
- Some time before 1 a.m.

Have you ever been in a beauty pageant?
- I guess I have to change my answer to that question about when was the last time you laughed.

How many tattoos do you have?
- None.

If you don't have any, have you ever thought of getting one?
- Occasionally.

What did you do for your last birthday?
- Took a few days off from work. On the actual day we went to the mummy exhibit at the Natural History Museum, getting to walk around it completely alone and playing with the MRI viewers. Then visited the brand new Broad Museum, had drinks at Trader Vic's, dinner at Tam O'Shanter, and then went to a tiki party with live music. Later that weekend we went to the San Diego Zoo and Brandon proposed again with the newly made engagement ring while we were by the Museum of Man in Balboa Park.

Do you carry a donor card?
- It says I am on my drivers license.

Who was the last person you ate dinner with?
- Fuck. I didn't eat dinner tonight. Didn't really eat any last night either. I think I ate alone the night before that and before that. I can't remember the last time Bran and I ate dinner together.

Is the glass half empty or half full?
- Depends what's in the glass and is it refillable.

What's the farthest-away place you've been?
- The West Bank, within Israel.

When's the last time you ate a homegrown tomato?
- I can't remember the last time Mom grew tomatoes.

Have you ever won a trophy?
- I've got one from Geography Bee.

Are you a good cook?
- Decent.

Do you know how to pump your own gas?
- Yes.

If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be?
- Mark Twain.

Have you ever had to wear a uniform to school?
- I went Catholic school for a number of years, so yes.

Do you touch-type?
- Uh... sure?

What's under your bed?
- A lot of dust, trash, and shoes.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
- No.

Think fast, what do you like right now?
- Making myself cry, apparently.

Where were you on Valentine's day?
- Working Gallifrey One.

What time do you get up?
- Around 5:45, on average. My alarm goes off at 6:15.

What was the name of your first pet?
- Teddy.

Who is the second to last person to call you?
- My optometrist's office, which kept calling to confirm an appointment I never made.

Is there anything going on this weekend?
- Shakespeare Day at the Huntington. Seems like everyone's going to Coachella out in the desert.

How are you feeling right now?
- OK.

What do you think about the most?
- Things I get anxious about. It varies by the hour.

What time do you get up in the morning?
- Pretty sure I've answered this one a few times up there.

If you had A Big Win in the Lottery, how long would you wait to tell people?
- Forever. I don't play the lottery, to begin with, but yeah, I'd really rather not get any attention at all.

Who would you tell first?
- Pretty much Brandon, and maybe my parents, and no one else.

What is the last movie that you saw at the cinema?
- Star Wars.

Do you sing in the shower?

You should get Kaleb hooked on watching Tasty videos. I wish I had the time to make those.

Fact: Bran and I just became members of the Huntington, and holy crap are we excited to go just to sit in the shade somewhere on days when we can't think of anything else to do.

Out of games and film, "Dishonored 2" would be the only thing, I guess, since there really aren't many movies I'm all that thrilled about (maybe the new "Star Trek"?)

I am on pins and needles for several forthcoming TV shows, though.

Just took a much-needed mini vacation up to the redwoods, staying in the beautiful, New England-looking town of Mendocino. Came back to work yesterday feeling a little more recharged.

And woo, "Game of Thrones" is back this weekend.

In news I'm happy about, but still a bit apprehensive about, Brandon's mom is coming for a visit and his aunt wants to take us all out for dinner supposedly in honor of our engagement. Glad to see Linda (Bran's mom), not so much Michelle (aunt).

Yeah, that would be her. Thankfully, she copped out saying she couldn't find a babysitter, but was posting video on Facebook later, showing her with her daughter at another restaurant.

She was also the one who whenever we'd end up having breakfast with her when family was in town would "playfully" harass Bran and me about getting married. Cannot express how much I hate that shit, especially when "family" were doing that at Lola's funeral last year.

Totally forgot there's supposed to be a picnic today. Fuck.. need to go get something to bring.

Otherwise Bran and I are going to a play tonight, an unofficial sequel to "Much Ado About Nothing," called "The Devil's Bride."

So many of my friends are going through absurd amounts of depression, at the moment. I'm not saying it's made-up shit, it's just that the bad luck's really going around right now. One friend lost her job and her fiance's in rehab, another's going through some insane medical stuff and the doctors won't tell her what it is, but they just did a bunch of expensive tests she can barely afford the co-pays on. And it turns out Bran's sister is going to seek a separation, pending that she's OK'd for an apartment covered by the government for her and her kids. There's A LOT of bad juju in the air.

I'm, eh, OK with them, but I won't necessarily order them on anything. I've stopped picking them off my burgers and chicken sandwiches. Whenever we go to Jewish delis and they drop a couple of them on table before your food comes, I do eat one. However, if I get one with a sandwich anywhere else, I usually just give it to Brandon or my dad.

What's a deal-breaker for you that would make you stop following a fandom altogether?

It's the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's passing.

Whether or not you believe he truly authored all those plays, his name is stamped all over a legacy that shall last 'til the end of the world and possibly beyond (don't know what they stuck on that record they shot into space in case aliens find it.)

Anyway, here's Dame Maggie Smith playing Beatrice in my favorite play of his:

It's been a while. Guess it's time to dust this one off a bit.

What was the last...

...thing you ate?
- Egg rolls and apple fritters with bourbon glaze at Button Mash.

...person you talked to on the phone?
- Christina. It was the first time in a while and we ended up talking for nearly an hour.

...person you e-mailed/private messaged?
- Christina again. Messaged her a picture of my bruised ass from when I fell down the stairs.

...person you hugged?
- Kevin's wife.

...person you kissed?
- Brandon.

...time you laughed?
- At the play we just saw, "The Devil's Bride."

...time you cried?
- Not quite sure. It was probably one of those PMSing times when I make myself shed tears thinking about sweet things.

...movie you watched?
- In theaters, "Star Wars Force Awakens."

...TV show you watched?
- Watching "King of the Hill" on demand, right now.

...DVD you watched?
- "The Critic" season 1, disc 1.

...video tape you watched?
- Now that's one I definitely can't remember, especially since I'm not sure if the VCR is hooked up to the new TV.

...song you listened to?
- Well, there was a lot of unexpected singing in the play, but damned if I remember any of the words or what any of the singing was about.

...book you finished?
- "Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant."

...heart-to-heart you had with someone?
- Either Christina or Bernie.

...person you met?
- Tasha.

...person who died in your life?
- Aunt Jodi.

...new food you tried?
- Rainbow bagels, which I had my cooking class make.

...new thing you tried (event, action)?
- I apparently listed five things last time, so ah, fuck it, here's the last five again (UPDATE: 4/24/2016: Ditto):
1. Watched a production of "The Devil's Bride," an unofficial sequel to "Much Ado About Nothing."
2. Tried performing semaphore communication at the Maritime Museum.
3. Had the "Ninja Turtle" off the Dutch Bros secret menu.
4. Took a bath in a clawfoot tub.
5. Stayed at a house built in the 1800s in Mendocino. Most gorgeous place I've ever stayed.

...time you went around the house in just your underwear?
- Depends on if going straight from the bathroom to my room counts, because that's usually every day.

...time you weren't fully sober?
- Got a bit buzzed off the tiki drink I threw together at with rum, pineapple juice with coconut cream, and Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut liqueur at Glen and Kina's a few weeks back.

...you "geeked" out?
- Probably while talking about random stuff at the ops picnic yesterday.

...thing you read in the bathroom?
- The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers omnibus.

...bargain you made?
- Bought $19 worth of food from the discount market yesterday for last minute picnic supplies and was told that I saved $20.

...thing you planned?
- The mini vacation Brandon and I took to the redwoods for our anniversary trip. It was all very last minute.

...award you won?
- Some achievement on Steam, playing "Fallout 4."

...piece of toast you had?
- I guess the toasted bread on my beefeater sandwich yesterday morning.

...present you gave?
- Bought a membership to the Huntington, which'll cover Brandon and me for a year, saying it's my anniversary present to him. Of course, I did also pay for most of our most recent trip, which involved a $200/night hotel stay and rental car.

...porno you saw?
- Shit. No clue.

...song you sang in the shower?
- Still don't sing in the shower.

...song you had stuck in your head?
- Much of the latest Dread Crew album is pretty well lodged in there.

- Wrote down the events of our break last weekend (visited Avenue of the Giants, stayed with Katie, etc.)

...errand you ran?
- Picked up all that food for the picnic.

...drink you had?
- Horchata at Button Mash.

...cool thing you found?
- Hm, a natural food store that took over an old church.

...time you brushed your hair?
- Some time yesterday

...person you talked to over AIM, YIM, etc?
- Quinton through messenger, since he kept asking if I'd watched tonight's "Game of Thrones" episode yet or not.

...thing you bought?
- A grip of tokens to play pinball at Button Mash.

...game you played?
- Pinball.

...new place you visited?
- Apparently I listed five last time, so once again, fuck it (UPDATE: 4/24/2016: AGAIN ditto):
1. Button Mash
2. Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles
3. Glass Beach in Ft. Bragg
4. MacCallum House
5. Chandelier Tree

- Yelp and Facebook.

...movie you watched that you thought was underrated?

...time you visited family?
- Drove out to Arizona last month to see Brandon's family and go to their renaissance faire.

...exercise you did?
- I walk around my neighborhood.

...vacation you took?
- Mentioned it several times, but we went up to Northern California for our 12th anniversary. I rented a car for the first time and we drove up to Palo Alto and stayed with a friend the first night, stopping in Morro Bay to eat soup while staring at the rock. Second day drove up to the redwoods at Avenue of the Giants, walked around in the woods, drove through one of those trees you can ride a car through, and then drove down to Mendocino to stay at MacCallum House. Went home the next day after a hike along the coast. It was a really short, but outstanding trip.

...text message you sent?
- To Brandon, apparently. "I'm on the 91," I wrote, but don't remember why.

...picture you set as your phone's wallpaper?
- Still an NCR ranger.

The FBI hasn't released how much they spent to get that third party to hack for them, but their director has sort of let on that he's ashamed that the amount exceeds what he'll be paid for next seven years.

Looks like they still used Croatia for shooting, unless it's that they shot all those scenes of the harbor and such LAST season and are only now showing it to us.

Good episode. No one I cared about died.

Jesus fucking Christ, FUCK whoever thought it was a good idea to have a scheduled blackout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. AND NOT INFORMING THE PEOPLE IT WOULD AFFECT BEFOREHAND!!! Come home and the refrigerators weren't even cold. My neighborhood is LOADED with senior citizens. This could have affected medications they might have had to keep refrigerated. WHY THE FUCK WAS THE POWER OUT THAT LONG ON PURPOSE?! Goddamn it.

I'm just amused how many people are losing their shit over that final scene. I guess it just didn't strike me as a mindfuck.

Spoiler:
No one's even mentioned the overthrow in Dorne.

Happy I just got the call that I've been approved for a credit card through my bank. Finally getting my first credit card, believe it or not, and holy fuck do I need to build that credit.

Happy that Bran and I had such a rejuvenating and relaxing vacation for our anniversary, despite it being only three days long and we were driving a majority of every day.

Happy Bran and I spent St. Patrick's Day/All Snakes Day seeing Flogging Molly and Gogol Bordello.

Happy that we got a full four-day weekend out of that, going from the concert to driving out to Arizona and going to the faire.

Happy we're going to hit up the local faire again this weekend, hopefully with friends.

Happy Trader Joe's sells cheap bottles of water.

Happy Bran and I are now members of the Huntington.

There's a lot, but for some reason the thing that always comes to mind when I think of fictitious foods to try is mushrumps, fried in butter and garlic, as described by Neil Gaiman in "Stardust."

The other thing I'd love to eat are the Cornish pasties he wrote about in "American Gods." I've only had one amazing pasty out of all the ones I've tried over the years.

I'm sure there's tons of George R. R. Martin and Tolkein foods I'd love.
