I gave up on superhero shows a lot quicker than I believed. Like I didn't even finish the first season of "Smallville" as it aired.

I still have yet to start "Gotham," "Flash," or "Supergirl," finish the first episode of "Daredevil," and watch ANYTHING Marvel other than the first half of "Agents of SHIELD" (which I HATED and was forced to watch just so I would review it for my friend's website.) So yeah, no "Agent Carter" or "Jessica Jones" for me, and frankly, I really don't care. I watched the first episode of "Arrow" as it aired and heartily disliked it.

Seriously, the only one that stuck for me was "Heroes," and even then I wasn't digging it much after slogging through the short second season.

I do, however, have interest in the "Luke Cage" show they're putting out on Netflix. If it ends up being another Joss Whedon snarkfest with the same characters, I WILL abandon it pretty quickly, though.

As far as I know, no. But "The Avengers" set the pace for everything else that followed, most especially "Agents of SHIELD," which was completely unwatchable for me the whole first season. Seems like the only people I know obsessed with "Agent Carter" and "Jessica Jones" are Whedon-nuts.

Since the first "Avengers" hit theaters, I just have not been up for putting down the money to see any of the other Marvel films in first-run. I couldn't even bring myself to see "Civil War," which I'd been excited about since the summer of 2006. ((Shit... 10 years ago? How time flies.))

I'm just not a fan of Whedon. I can barely enjoy "Firefly," honestly.

I'd always heard we all originally were African. Will have to look deeper into this.

Finally watched "Zootopia." Did not realize how true to our times it was going to be. It's still appropriate for kids, but it's definitely more for their parents and other adults watching. I mean, "Breaking Bad" references...

Word has it since the Salton Sea got hit with 200 smaller earthquakes this past week, it's a sign the big one's coming.

We're definitely not prepared at my house.

About three episodes into "Luke Cage." It's decent. Feels like watching an extended blaxploitation movie.

Also watched the first episode of "Westworld." It's really expanded on the movie, and while there's a lot of bitching about it, I like it overall.

I'm also laughing my ass off whenever I see people saying it's a rip-off of "Jurassic Park."

Both stories are about a futuristic amusement park run amok.

Thing is, Michael Crichton created "Westworld" first. He did it as a movie. He wrote "Jurassic Park" later.

Read "Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything." It was a good.

I also read through the sixth volume of "Saga," and the 11th volume of "Chew," and the 30th volume of "Usagi Yojimbo."

I also read some of the Homeric Hymns. I bought a copy of them, but knowing me, owning a book means l'm less likely to read it while I try to work through the ones I have only for a few weeks from the library.

Speaking of which, picked up "Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family" again. I'd had to return it to the library when I was about halfway through, but now that I've gotten it back I'm trying to power through it.

I've realized that I seem to read a lot more non-fiction books than almost anything else (graphic novels are what I tend to read most) these days. Don't know why novels just aren't doing it for me.

The second episode of "Westworld" dropped early this week. I liked it.

We're really struggling getting through "Twin Peaks" season 2, though. So much of it is just different from the first. Like Donna looks different from scene to scene almost, and the drama amongst the characters is usually terrible and too much time is spent on it (Donna/Maddie/James, Ed/Crazy Wife/Norma, etc.) Albert needed to be in it more.

Anyway, we finally have Bob's identity answered. Do we need to keep watching?

I've been trying to keep on the positive side. Thankfully, now that I'm out of that shit center, it's a bit easier these days.

Happy we were able to have a garish tea party with candelabras and lace at the Old Zoo for "The Tempest." Made some new friends.

Happy that we got to spend a weekend with Elara and Kaleb when they came out. Tea and ramen and wandering around L.A. <3

Happy to discover petting horn sharks is like putting your hand in a basket of attention-hungry kittens.

Happy getting to go to the colonial restaurant with Brandon's mom while she was visiting from Arizona yesterday.

Happy it's fall foliage season and since most of the trees in Oak Glen were still green yesterday that means it's still in the near future.

Happy I've got a couple trips coming up next month and going to see some friends and family.

But that makes it better. Why drink $40 worth of drinks to finally start to feel a buzz you get one off the first?

I don't let loose much these days, but it feels great when I do. Of course, NEVER do it out of sadness. I did that once (the last day at my old center, you know, before I ended up coming back a little more than a month later.) While I was still happy buzzing I felt like shit about it, and for some people it magnifies the emotions. You drink while you're depressed, you're even lower, etc.

Also. Definitely cherish your grandmother while you've got her.

I mean, I'm only 31, which I also tend to forget.

I've already been locked in for this election and have been since the primaries wrapped.

Not that I would have been opposed to changing my vote on the big day if the other candidate proved more promising, but he hasn't.

Apparently Glenn Beck feels the same.

I probably should go for a cleaning one of these days. It's been... oh... quite a few years. Seems like I only go to have my wisdom teeth checked out to see if they can be pulled yet.
