| I'm currently halfway through the first Bloody Jack book, Bloody Jack: Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy.
It's so far not been as interesting as the concept promised. Girl, orphaned at 8 and left to beg and scrounge in the streets, impersonates a boy in order to work as a cabin boy on board a Royal Navy man-of-war on its way to the Caribbean to fight and capture pirates. It's written in first person, with the main character's London street slang thrown in for personality, but so far it's been like watching "Master and Commander," which was rather dull (then again I went and saw it with people who called the movie ridiculously boring and walked out not 30 minutes in). I've heard mixed things from other people who read the whole series and a few have even said to just stop reading the series altogether. While the book is good at addressing things for historical accuracy the story doesn't progress much. Next book planned: Smoke and Mirrors, and then Fragile Things. I'm just one of those people who likes to read books one or two at a time because reading more than two or three makes me less attentive to the books and not feel as drawn in. That's just me, though. | I'm currently reading the Sword of Truth series and I'm on Faith of the Fallen.
Is it just me, or does Terry Goodkind seem to rabble on about weird things like a field or a faint memory that holds absolutely NO significant meaning to the whole book? |

| I'm more disturbed by his obession with rape, personally. I only read the first two books of that series though, so yeah.
Up to book nine, Winter's Heart, in the Wheel of Time series. The eigth book was quite interesting, and so far this one is, too. I love the description of Elayne and Aviendah adopting each other as first-sisters, it was very well written. Other than that, I read Murder at Monticello by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown (that's right, a woman and her cat). Long story short, weird shit goes down, people die, and the animals seem to be the smartest ones around and find all the clues. At least I didn't see the whodunnit coming, so the twist was good. Also, I have a bunch of history books to read for my classes. Oh joy, 18th Century prose! |

In january, I read "Cross" by James Patterson and "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by him. As much as I enjoy James Patterson's writing, I think Suzanne's was the best book I've ever read. It's not his usual writing, but definatly something I'd suggest looking into  |

| Well I finished my book.. now i want the next one but its not out yet.. =( it hurts.. newho SO i picked up another one in the mean time The dragon lance series. By Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Theres over 100 books in this series all fantasy based. Right now im reading dragons of a fallen sun. It's a really good series if your in to those kindas of books. | |||

| Because I'd been meaning to read the series and never got around to it, I started reading The Fellowship of the Ring today and hope to finish the series before the end of the month.
While I'm not a very slow reader, I tend to not have time to sit down and read for hours on end. Bloody Jack Wasn't as bad as it seemed, though it began to drag near the end. Still have a few books in that series to polish off. While it's meant to be a sea epic, it's more like the diary of a young girl while not actually written in the journal form. |

| I'm currently reading the second book in the Bloody Jack series. It's interesting how it went from sea epic to colonial gil's finishing school ala Anne of Avonlea (yes, I know, that's Canadian, but the same premise is there).
It's an interesting read, but little societal scrapes vastly pale in comparison to fights with pirates and other things like that. |

| Dragonlance is best read in order. I myself have only read the Chronicals series, Legends series, and Dragons of Summer Flame. Raistlin is badass... but it is all about Tass!
Started reading Pox Americana for my American Revolution class and I have to say that it is an extremely interesting read. There was a massive smallpox epidemic from 1775-82 (or so, book is in the car) that hit from coast to coast in America; yet there is almost no mention of it in history texts. This is further made odd because it is one of the most well-documented outbreaks of the disease in history. |

| Right now I'm reading The Road to Wellville. It's a satire on all of those machines, medicines, tonics, diets, health programs, and such that people used to buy into in the early 1900s that were really just shams to get people's money.
Example: one of the characters, Will Lightbody, is married to a health nut who goes off to sanitariums all the time and follows strict eating regimes. While she's gone for a while, Will in his loneliness picks up drinking and soon becomes a complete alcoholic. His wife, on returning, buys this "miracle cure" that's supposed to cease Will's alcohol abuse. Eventually he picks up on his wife drugging him after he has a bout of sleeping sickness, he finds the bottles of the cure she had hidden and discovers that it's nothing but opium. Now addicted to opium, he becomes sick with withdrawls and soon he finds another bottle of miracle cure. However, this cure is for drug addiction. He has it analyzed and as it turns out, it's alcohol just slightly weaker than the stuff he was already drinking. His wife was spending hundreds of dollars on these tiny bottles of miracle cure and he could easily have spent a quarter of that just on his full-sized bottles alcohol. Anyway, the book has occasional photos of people going through ridiculous treatments, one of a woman hooked up to a machine, breathing in radium. |

of Magic. Wicca and Druidry predominantly. I just finished the fourth book of The Last Rune series. Very good story. Not a whole lot else cept for the occasional manga during lunch at work. *shrugs* |

| Well, I just got finished with The Catcher in the Rye, and I'm on to a couple of self-help books. The first, I'm about half way done with, is the Zombie Survival Guide, and it's excellent. The second, which I haven't started on yet, is the Self-Destruction Handbook. My friends tell me that it's excellent, and has plenty of handy things like "Why Smoking is Cool" and such. I hope I can start on that soon. | |||

| I just borrowed Boys over flowers/Hana Yori Dango Volume 18 from the public library. And I've been reading it sinc Summer 2005. Read almost every volume of it except the ones that came out recently in Volumes 20 through 26. The other volumes is in Japanese which is 27 through 36.
It's the best damn book I ever read. |

| i just got done reading a series of books by daren shan called the cirque du freak it was prettey good it was a twelve book series. i also just got done reading a stand alone book called shadowmancer by G.P taylor it was pretty good. finally i just got done reading a two book series by my favorite author Tamora pierce she normally wrights qurtets but she got the idea from jk rowling its called the tricksters choice, and the tricksters queen.the series is called the daughter of the lioness. She is the best author. now i started on a series im not so Familiar with called sabriel by garth nix it looks interesting this is only one months worth of books. |
