you guys should probably just close this thread seeing as how this is now nothing more than back and forth between Odin and Nagis. It just seems like it might make more sense to do this through PMs.

So...uh...
Mastodon. Awesome band. I just got into them after listening to Colony of Birchmen. Some intense stuff.

Yeah, indeed. Or sometimes I just check stuff (and listen to bands, but don't reply).

This thread shall stay for it is the epic eternal mighty metal thread.

Oh btw, I listened to Sonata Arctica's album that's gonna be out in two months (torrents lol), sounds kinda weird.

I'm not too big on them anymore.

Their albums don't seem too good overall. They always have some excellent songs here and there, but some filler too. That's me though.

Sparda: You should check out Tankard!

I read this thread all the time! But I rarely check out the bands. I've checked a couple, wasn't amazingly keen, but just have been kinda lazy I guess.

But yeah, I'm sure people at least are downloadin' the crunk!

Anyone here listen to Summoning? I may have said this before, but I don't really care.
Summoning is an amazing semi-ambient melodic doom metal band with music inspired from Tolkien and his various works.
Anyone want me to upload an album or two?

Thor, ever heard of Timeless Miracle?

Ive got their "Into the Enchanted chamber" Albulm.

Mostly Paegan (spelling) Religion stuff from what I understand, the lyrics arent bad, but its a not bad band to be honest.

Take a listen

Discovered a pretty obscure power metal band, really enjoying them so far. Abraxas.
(maybe you'll like them TP? Worth a try ... )

Really unique obscure band, sligthly dark at times, they've been around since 1985 and have only put out two full length albums in 1993, and then 1997. Sadly, looks like they've split up. Pretty guitar driven, lovely shreddage.

Abraxas - Gates to Eden, - Explorers (both from Tommorow's World, 1997).

I'm still kind of listening to this album, but its pretty awesome so far.

Also I've been diving into more new territory for myself, Folk / Viking metal. I'm still not much of a fan for the semi-growling a lot of the bands do, though its not like death metal or anything -at all-, not really "evil" sounding (not to sound wimpy , think Children of Bodom). Equilibrium seems pretty cool, a lot like Ensiferum. Got Moonsorrow's discography too, and they don't seem that bad either. And ...

Turisas! Really interesting band, the album I have is called "Battle Metal". Tons of synths and stuff, maybe silly but its pretty cool. Again, the vocals are meh, its worth noting its not constant growling. It's pretty unique, so here's a song:
As Torches Rise.

Seriously just makes me want to play God of War or something.

Thor, you'd probably like them. Nagis too.

(Sorry I don't mean to point fingers and tell you guys what you will and won't like, just sayin' ... )

Heh, I like how most of the bands you describe are described almost the same. (Basically "Wow! Awesome. Be blown away, they rock house, they are like *insert band here*, etc)

Not saying it's a bad thing, you just like your metal. *pats your head*

Rock on, Xeo. Me, I like my Power Metal and such (hey, might as well start downloading some). But have more Jrock/Jpop in me archives than I do metal (no commentary or whatever on that though, this thread is for metal discussion only. >__>)

Yeah, so I downloaded Dimmu Borgir's new album to be released in late May, I believe, or somewhere around then; it's called In Sorte Diaboli, and it kicks ass. Really; the whole CD is like a story, each song being a chapter. It's just orgasm-inducing.

Pretty tough stuff, Whiplash (the solo on Power Thrashing Death is amazing). I'd say they're like close to death, but then I downloaded some Morbid Angel, and well that's not really true.

Yeah, I gave death metal a chance. Morbid Angel is pretty old and had some stuff out in the 80's, and I saw reviews stating they had a lot of thrash influence in them, overall it seemed like they were easily accessible, well ... still didn't do much for me. I'll stick to my power/speed/thrash.

Also, not sure if I posted this Sweden band yet, Wolf. Really awesome heavy/power metal, and at times sounds like what new Helloween -could- soundlike if they were better ...

Their older stuff is really Maiden influenced with the melodic riffs and everything, really awesome stuff.

So, Megadeth's United Abominations is sounding pretty sexy so far.

(it leaked).

Even thrashier than The System Has Failed. Its thrash.
