So yes, saw the midnight showing with WhiteRose, DarkBeloved, and GuardianOni last night. While they still butchered the book, I have to say that they did much better than they have with the past two movies. Apparently it is being said that the last 20 minutes are supposed to be 3D, but I have heard nothing of this until just now. Anyone hear this as well?

Then again... I did see billboard adds saying the movie come out on the 13th, so who knows.

Yeah, this is my favorite Harry Potter movie released so far. I liked it better that it didn't exactly fit the book, it was more of an interpretation, and the action was SO good in this.

And yeah, Elara, in IMAX theaters, the battle is like 3D or something, that's what I heard.

I agree with Elara. It was very well done, but they took out soooo much.

Almost all character development.

Ah, so the last 20 minutes are 3D only in IMAX. Gods I want to see it in IMAX!

But yeah... I can understand taking out some of the stuff, but others... like the letter to Petunia and the explanation of Tonks should not have been removed. And Emily Watson still hasn't improved as an actor at all.

The last 20 minutes of it being 3D is new news to me.

I'm glad that you said it seemed much better than the first ones because I really can't wait to see this movie (like all the other ones), but it always sucks when they butcher the book.

I'm gonna hopefully go see The Order of the Pheonix soon.

Since this seems to shock people whenever I tell them this, I'll just say ... I still haven't seen any of these movies.

It's probably better to refrain from them in the long run. Well, not meaning to sound bitter over it.

The first one was wonderful, capturing everything I imagined the books to be. The second built on it. While I was a little disappointed, it was still enjoyable. Then the third one--based on my favorite book of the series, Prisoner of Azkaban--broke my OFG heart.

While talking to Zoso about it after we saw it with a big group of friends, as he was the only one among us who didn't read the books, he didn't know why we were all upset, though he found some of the story rather odd and disjointed. Actually, he was rather exasperated with Harry and Hermione going back in time near the end since he was just wanting it all to be over already.

I still have yet to see Goblet of Fire, or to read any since Order of the Phoenix. Truth be told, I've completely fallen out of the fandom and, within me, the hype over the movie and subsequent release of the seventh book have been greeted with apathy, bordering on frustration.

I do realize I'm being a bit melodramatic over a children's film/written saga (and is it just me or do I seem to be getting more and more bitter every year?), but I guess I expect too much of the things I love(d).

Seriously, though, if only the Onion's report of a date rape in the final book were true.

Oh right, I'm not supposed to make death jokes.

I'm sorry I just hate anything and everything Harry Potter. And I have read a couple of the first books.

Wanna join the Harry-Haters Makura? I shall have to make it now! I know loads of people who don't like it.

Personally I don't see the hype about it. I read the first four books before the fifth came out, and when the fifth came out I got 100 pages into it and thought "Why the fuck am I reading this?"

Then I've also only seen the first two movies... I think... I might also have seen the third, but I was so bored out of my mind I've forgotten if it was that or the second one...

But yeah, almost certainly not going to see this, at least until I've seen third and fourth...

I still haven't seen it, but I get to this saturday.

I actually have enjoyed all of the Harry Potter movies made so far, including(if not especially) the third one. I really don't mind how different they are from the book, as long as they've got good quality.

So I look forward to seeing the fifth movie.

I now totally contradict what I said before, I did go to see it, simply because it was free (One of my friends' parents paid for me to go). I thought it was pretty good, and I don't see why people should compare the books to the films. They are two different things. The films might not have the same character developement simply because it would cause the film to go over-budget, over-time and just plain boring.

In all, I thought it was actually pretty decent... Still need to see three and four though. I loved the fight at the end... Awesome-beans!

If you have already read the books then I don't really recommend watching the movies (which is weird cause I watch them) because they usually butcher it. Yet if you haven't read the books yet then I recommend that you read them. =D

But don't feel bad. Nagis doesn't even want to watch the movies.

I watched it last saturday, and since I judge movies by themselves instead of by the book, I thought it was completely awesome.

The only thing I could complain about is that when Fred and George left hogwarts, they didn't cause enough trouble. I wanted them to do massive pranks on Umbridge.

Yup, I went to the midnight, and was one of the proud two not in costume (I went and sat next to the guy, we had a good laugh), and was only mildly disappointed. Looking at it as a movie, it was outstanding, but viewing it as a book movie, it was a bit of a let-down. They got things wrong, and left a lot out, but that last action sequence made up for it. 7/10.

[P.S.- I'm back, hopefully for good.]
