Ok, this is a story, maybe a set of stories, set in Forgotten Realms. I'm not sure on places, and their locations, so it's kind of a shot in the dark with that. Other than that, I hope you enjoy.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Shriaun, first daughter of house Torduis, first house of Eryndlyn was confident. While she knew that she had to keep an eye on her rivals, and assassins. But that is the way of life for the Drow. In their blood.

But, Shriaun Torduis was as secure as any Drow was in her position. First in the most powerful house in the great city of Eryndlyn. High priestess to Loth, Queen of spiders. And a skilled warrior in her own right.

Oh there was the occasional rival that sought to usurp her, but she dealt with them harshly. Death sometimes was a good way, but it was by far not the worst she could do.

With all these accolades to her name. As strong as she was. As skilled a cleric, or fighter. All it did now was fuel the fire of her rage.

Standing in a wide open clearing her raiding party around her, either looking to defend her or be defended by her from the surrounding force that had ambushed them.

Moments ago she saw her nemesis. That hateful human that seems to find joy in thwarting her, and paining her at every turn.

He was simply standing in the trees looking like he was gathering berries.

She knew it was too good to be true, but couldn't pass up the opportunity she sent a few males in either direction to flush out this type of ambush. But she sent them too far around. The ambushers had cleverly disguised themselves as shrubs, parts of trees, and fallen leaves. Before she or anyone else could react they were on them, and half their number was dead. And a few others bound. The few remaining held their hand crossbows at the ready, but the ambushers seemed to meld back into the forest, reappearing at random.

Except for him. He simply stood there, his swords not even drawn.

"Thought you could raid again?" He asked in his deep voice. "I'll admit our last meeting did hurt us. But we Harpers have a knack for pulling together."

For a fleeting moment Shriaun smiled. The memory of her last encounter was a full scale battle not to far away from this spot. They battled over an artifact in the ruins of a wizard's tower. Many harpers fell that day, and she gained more than the sought prize.

But the moment, and the memory passed. And her smile turned into a leer "Yes, Remmi Shadowborn." She said using the name gotten from a captured Harper agent. "I had hoped that you would be too torn up about loosing so many. I know how much your pitiful heart must ache."

"No you don't" The human says simply. No bravado, no hit of argument. A simple statement of fact.

"Oh? So you don't suffer for their loss?"

"I didn't say that." He says with a shake of his head. "You just don't know."

"Don't know what?" She asked quickly.

"If you have to ask the question, you would not understand. And for that, I pity you."

Maybe it was the way he spoke, calm and knowingly. Or maybe it was that he said he Pitied her. But she felt nothing more than the simple desire to kill this man.

Her right hand grasped the handle of her saber. And as it flashed out of the sheath their was the strum of hand crossbows. A hail of deadly darts streaked out to the human.

Remmi's hands drew the blades on either hip. The blades blurred up and across as he stepped to the side deflecting most of the poisoned bolts, and dodging the rest.

Streaking behind the bolts Shriaun ran at the Harper in front of her bent of nothing short of death.

Her saber flashed up for a cut, a feint left then stab at his left thigh. All of these he parried with his left sword. The one in his right hand swept down toward the side of her head. Ducking she tumbled back springing off her free left hand an instant before one of his blades stabbed into the space she was.

Despite his size he was fast. And the instant she regained her feet he was on her. Swinging his right sword across, aiming for her head. Gripping the back of the saber with her left hand she blocked his blade. And was sent flying by the force of the strike.

Hitting the ground ten feet away Shriaun rolled on her shoulder, ending up in a crouching position. drawing her whip in her offhand she sent the coil of black leather at the human. Purple lighting dancing down it's length.

With a spinning sway Remmi danced out of the way of the magical whip. And as she pulled the whip back for a new attack he moved forward. Both swords low he charged trusting at her chest.

Standing she deflected the swords past her with her saber. Stepping forward his momentum carried him past her she was behind him. Brining the saber up she turned and cut downward at his exposed neck.

But his left handed sword blocked the blow in a blind hanging parry.

Shriaun sensed him readying for a turn, and leaped back as he spun around with his right hand sword leading the way.

Flinging herself away she brought the whip around snapping it for his legs. But this time he pulled his sword down and actually parred the whip.

Brining it around she cracked it at him again, forcing him to back up a few paces. That brief moment was all she needed to take a quick look around the clearing. Of the dozen or so that had remained from the original ambush only three remained. And one of them was already muttering a spell to teliport himself away.

The battle was lost and she knew it. Cracking her magical whip again she held Remmi at bay.

Muttering words of power she invoked a spell. A magic circle appeared around her, surrounding her in a faint wall of light.

Remmi looked at the magic circle, tapping it experimentally with his sword. Finding it as solid as stone he looked at Shriaun. "Something wrong? Why don't you step back outside so we can continue our dance?" He says gesturing with his swords.

Shriaun Simply ignored him, and started to chant the words that would take her away.

Remmi slid his blades away. "Alright Drow, run. Leave here. But as you do leave with a little bit of knowledge, along with this waisted effort. When you arrive home realize I know something you don't know. And in my heart I weep for you too."

Shriaun completed the last words of the spell. And in a rush of color and wind she was pulled away from that place.

To be continued...

OK so it'll be a group of stories. Maybe. Only if I get positive feedback.

Tell me what you think.

Quite good love. Good description and you manage to really get my attention. I was quite literally awaiting every word I read to see where it would lead. I could like to see you continue this.

Good story, I eagerly await what comes next. You need to cut down on the amount of commas you use though.

What? I'm supposed to give criticism.

This was intriguing. I've read it two or three times but always at mach 3 cause I've
got lots of other crap bugging me so for some reason finer details escape me but
I liked it.

I think the fight scenes might be a little too detail oriented but I like that kinda fight
anyway so not sure how much of a difference it'd make.

Will re-read again and make a better post later. Off to work now.
