Originally posted by Fate Hehehe that's a lot! I used to almost read that much a very long time ago, but I started reading much less for about a year or two and then just recently picked it back up again. It's nice though cause you get that want-to-see-what-happens feeling a bunch of times over at the same time. (Last edited by Fennicy on 07-31-07 01:30 AM) |

I ended up reading the Icewind Dale trilogy instead. It is good to get it done finally... but dear gods R.A. Salvatore wrote bad dialogs back then! The only part of the story that didn't grate at me was the battle scenes.
But yes, now I am reading The Grieving Tree, book two of the Dragon Below series. So far, eh. |

I'm actually in the middle of reading Neil Gaiman's take on the Marvelverse, 1602.
I bought the comics long ago and didn't want to touch them for fear of ruining their value (yes, I really am a neurotic collector), and finally picked up a cheap copy of the trade paperback when it came out. It's pretty good. Stan's work has never been better. |

Finished The Grieving Tree, overall very predictable. I've also read The Genius of Alexander the Great for a school assignment. Pretty interesting book actually, more for people that like military history though. And I also just finished The Way of the Wolf, book one of The Vampire Earth series and it was pretty damn cool. Next up is book two of the series, Choice of the Cat and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which I got for Christmas.

I'm currently reading Charade by Sandra Brown. OMG I only just started reading her books but I'm already a huge fan of them. Here's the link to her main website if you're curious.
http://sandrabrown.net/ I don't know how to make it into a link on here but all well just copy and paste lol. Anyways she's New York Time's best selling author. She's written around sixty books already and most of them have prizes. Her books are mostly romances but they aren't specifically made as romances depending which of her books you're reading. They're very explicit in everything (including violence and intimate scenes) but she's a very talented writer and all the books of hers I've read so far have an equal balance of romance, suspense, action, etc again depending on which of her books you were reading. If anyone ever decides to try a book then I'd recommend "Slow Heat in Heaven", "Charade", "Where There's Smoke", and "French Silk" (the only book that had a movie made after it). Currently reading Terry Goodkind's The Pillars of Creation, overall I like it, doesn't have any real world references to destroy it's escapist feel yet, so I'm satisfied.
After this, maybe I'll dropkick R.A. Salvitore in the face and steal his books. |

I'm nearing the end of Terry Goodkind's series right now. I thought I would procrastinate and read Enders Game. I heard nothing but good about it but I didn't enjoy it at all...

Just finished catching up in the Vlad Taltos books, by Steven Brust. Someone here has to have read them, please?
Started reading the other Dragaeran novels that don't follow Vlad, namely Paths of the Dead. |

I just read through I Am Legend recently, much better than the movie, and I'm pouring over a book of nonfiction for change- The Great Philosophers by Stephen Law. I'm enjoying it.

So I am up to book five of the Vampire Earth series, haven't had time to start the fifth one though. I do highly recommend the series though, it is very well written.
Just finished Sea of Death, last book of the Blade of the Flame trilogy (Eberron novels, so more D&D shit). It got really silly in the end, I mean, I still liked it and all but the author needs to be hit on the head with a rolled up newspaper. And Fennicy, when you asked what the series was about did you mean Dragon Below or Icewind Dale trilogy? They are both D&D novel series, set in different worlds. I want to read the Heirs of Ash series (more Eberron), but I need to talk venomouslobster into lending the books to me. |

So I haven't been finishing many books lately. I've started maybe 10 over the last 3 months, have put them down and forgotten to pick them up later so I'm playing catch-up with those.
Last night I read Neil Gaiman's children's book "The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish." It's cute. The art by Dave McKean is pretty trippy like his stuff tends to be. Still need to read his and Neil's "Mr. Punch" since I've already read "Coraline" and seen "Mirrormask." I've been casually reading the graphic novel-version of Neil's "Neverwhere." While I've gotten halfway through the novel, reading the trade paperback makes it easier to see what Neil was intending for the characters and settings to look like. When I get done with it today I'm probably going to to move on to "The Plain Janes" and then later to Piers Anthony's "The Man from Mundania." |

So I finished Neverwhere a couple days ago and read though The Plain Janes yesterday.
I started into Man from Mundania, but ended up bringing it back to the library when I realized it was the third part of a trilogy and I still needed to read the first two books. I'll get to them. I might as well pick up Discworld again since I recently acquired Equal Rites. |

I just got done with the first 4 volumes of Invincible. I really like how it makes a lot of references to various movies and comics.
I wish my library carried more volumes. Oh well, at least now I can talk about something with Robert Kirkman the next time I see him instead of just asking what he thinks of Scott Kurtz's satirical drawings of him. |

I read the 3 volumes of Densha Otoko. Oddly enough I like the movie better. I know there are two different manga for Densha, I think this is the one Viz put out for the movie.
I'm halfway through the seven issues of Marvel's Civil War. Pretty good. |

Update on the reading:
All right, read Civil War. It was all right, though I feel a bit disappointed with how it was billed as this big Marvel event and the epic-ness of it is a little dull. Anyway, am reading Persepolis (which was made into an animated movie recently). Pretty much it details the thoughts and experiences of a little girl living in the Middle East, though I'm not sure what country it is. Also I'm getting through the first volume of Yojimbo Usagi. Pretty good. Just wanted to see what people were really into about Stan Sakai. Along with that I'm finally getting through DC's Identity Crisis. I have most of the issues from when the comics first came out a few years ago, but never got to finish the story so I picked it up from the library. |
