Yay, second anime I've finished on my own!

Plot Summary: In a man-made underground society, descendants of a banished generation vie for control of the crumbling city of Lux. Ichise, an orphan turned prize fighter, loses a leg and an arm to satisfy an enraged fight promoter. On the brink of death he is taken in by a young woman doctor and used as a guinea pig for the next evolution of Texhnolyze. With his new limbs, Ichise is taken under the wing of Oonishi, a powerful leader of Organ, an organization with some hold on Lux. As Ichise is drawn deeper into a war for territorial control of the city, he learns of his possible future from the young girl prophet Ran, who guides him from the shadows in his darkest times. With the explosion of the warfare, Ichise must uncover the truth about Lux and fight for his survival as he realizes his destiny.

ANN page.

It's from the makers of Lain and some other reknown series. I'm not a fan of Lain, but I've heard those who are really enjoyed this show too. Because of this, you can surely expect this to be quite a weird anime.

It's extremely dark and mature. The ending is an utmost tragedy and having finished it just last night, I'm still not sure if I liked the ending or not. It was incredibly dark and somewhat depressing.

But it was still an interesting watch and entertaining. The visuals are very top notch with a lot of special effects. There's quite a bit of action that's pretty gruesome and the music is awesome. Though because of it's themes and whatnot, the visuals are usually a darker tone, grey, browns, and whatnot. Don't expect any vibrant colors here. I'll admit I went in to watch this show because I saw a review of it up at cyberpunkreview.com, I was expecting some cool cyberpunk sci-fi stuff. Though, it's honestly more of a post-modern world in a dysotopian setting. Regardless it was interesting enough to keep watching.

However it does require a bit of time. If you're someone who judges an anime right away with the first few episodes, you might not like it. I kept on watching the first few simply because I had nothing else to say than "what the hell?". But, the patience did pay off as the show and characters really developed.

Overall, if you want something very violent, dark, and chaotic, check this one out. Don't expect to be left a happy camper though.

Edit: Oh and I do not recommend the dubbed version at all. The English voices completely ruin some of the characters.

After watching this, I feel like I shoud look into Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann or something a little easier on the mind.

I liked it. It was a lot of fun. I loved the fact that a well known dj did the main theme for it. =P

Another anime to watch is Haibane Renmei. The makers of lain did that one too.
