OOC: No powers, True. You're on Noxadrain.

"Kowalski. That's all you need to know."

Turning to Marionette, he spoke slow and clearly. "I know you've got your powers back, but you'll find I'm a mind that can't be bent. From day one, I've been my own man. When the day comes I'm doomed to die, I'll be my own man. Never forget that."

Elsie looked at Kowalski. She nodded. "It's nice to meet you..." Elsie put her hands together and twiddled her fingers. She blushed a bit embarassed by her explosion. What if Elsie was not on the Noxadrain? What would happen? Elsie looked down at the ground. What would happen... Her eyes widened as she began to have a flash back of her mother's constant arguements with Ellen, her cousin.

"Elsie's not a threat Aunt!"

"I know... but it's been served to us... We can't stop them. They'll take her away and make her better..."

"What's going to make Elsie better? A pill and counseling? She needs her mother!"

"......"

"What's wrong Auntie..."

"Elsie... scares me... she carries eyes of anger deep with in her."

"What?"

"She misses her father, I'm sure of it, and she's mad at me for keeping her from him."

Elsie eyes widened. She looked at Kowalski. "I haven't been on my own... but I felt alone..." She said putting her trash on her tray. "I guess it's because i have the habit of moving on and moving around the problem." Elsie looked at Kowalski. "Thank you..."

She looked at him with a decent smile then dropped her head to have her bangs cover the building emotions. Please say something nice.... I need a friend.... Someone who can help me... No one helped me so far... You helped by letting me spill my guts out and being called naive is part of me.... I've been around my mother at all times. Stored away from the world, only to be brought here. To be kept from the world even more.

Helena had been let out of her stone prison and allowed some time int the sun and fresh air. She took a turn about the yard, grazing her fingertips over the chain-link fence, feeling its textures ranging from smooth and cool to the touch to course and rusted and warm from the past rains and sun exposure.

Eventually she found a shady spot, leaned against the fence and eased herself to the ground with her back constantly pressed to the boundary between freedom and this human zoo.

Her head ached a little and her hands shook. She crossed her legs, rested her hands, palm up, in her lap and concentrated on a spot on the ground. She cleared her mind, deepened her breath and proceeded to meditate.

Her bright, golden eyes misted over as she focused on the present moment--took in the slight breeze, listened to the leaves on the trees rustle and the occasional footsteps of other in-mates and guards. She closed her eyes and felt at peace.

Moments into her zazen, Helena's skin began to tingle ever so slightly.

Her last dosage of Noxadrain was starting to wear off.

Michael gave a small grin at Kowalski's statement. "Overconfidence, my friend, beware of it. He may not drive you to your death, but you will still believe it s your mind even when ou are manipulated."

Michael grimaced, this Marionette may be the most potent of people here, but to a skilled mind Marionette would be nothing. Fortunately, Michael calculated his every act, his every tiniest muscle movement. If a man calculated everything, and though of everything, he would never be controlled.

He looked towards Elsie, "so what's yor name?" he asked, although he already knew. However, he hadn't spoken to Elsie before, and he didn't want her to have an angry reaction to him.

He kept his face friendly, and his expression pleasant. He didn't want to shout about her weaknesses like Kowalski, shouting was never an effective way to lead, as Michael learned simply by watching dogs.

When he saw dogs, he often saw that the pack leader was calm, intimidating, certainl, but calm. The leader didn't bark, growl, and fight over everything. He certainly didn'[t act hostile towards the weaker dogs. No, growling and fighting was the job of one of the lower dogs, certainly not the alpha male.

So, with that metaphor in mind, would that Kowalski a lower level dog, for shouting at the weak?

Michael reisted a small grin. He aimed to be the alpha, he always aimed to be the alpha. Sure, an alpha inside of a prision meant almost nothing, but he would not always be in prison...and one day, when they were free, these men would respect him.

Elsie was a little lost in her mind at the moment. "..... I'm Elsie..." she said quietly. She looked at Micheal and sighed. She sighed and looked at him. "I'm sorry...." she whispered.

Helena threw her head back against the fence and looked up with a rejuvenated air of confidence as her system began to flush out the substance. She smirked and stared at the clouds as they floated above her.

"'Scuse me?"

Helena turned her attention to the thick and muscular male specimen standing before her. His hair nothing more than stubble and a startling, jagged scar running over his left eye and down his cheek, he peered down at Helena with fierce hunger, sneering.

"Lookin' for some fun, sugah?"

She stared back at him, unintimidated. Her eyes rested squarely on his. His expression shifted as he became transfixed on her shimmering irises. They radiated with an uncanny luster. Suddenly his heart swelled and he found difficulty breathing.

"My lady!" he declared, dropping to one knee in front of her.

Looking around suddenly, he spied two dandelions growing along the chain-link fence. He jumped for them, tearing them out by the root, clumps of dirt still clinging to the unearthed weeds. He turned and presented them to Helena who took them without word.

"A small token of my love for you, oh sweetness. They compare not to your ethereal beauty. I pray that you'll pardon my initial rudeness. I am called Vincent, or Vinny for short. I once was known as The Black Arsenal. I've murdered families, raped their wives and daughters, robbed banks, and nearly blown up the city a few times. For you, I give it all up and renounce my evil ways."

Helena gazed upon him unmoved.

"Oh, my precious, bid me do anything. I would cross oceans, climb mountains, and conquer worlds for your smile. I would die for you right now if that it would bring a shred of happiness into your heart."

Before she could stop Vincent, he'd taken her right hand, cupping it in his and kissing it deeply. Instantly Vincent was bathed in a feeling of complete euphoria, his mind swam, and his heart raced.

Helena shoved his head back with her free hand, and kicked his chest to unlatch him from her. He fell back gasping for air like a man rescued from drowning, eyes wide and unblinking.

"Oh you silly man," she said to him. "Gone and done a stupid thing like that."

She picked herself up and walked away, Vincent's dandelions on the ground beside his twitching body.

Marionette looked at Kowalski, a big, bad man. Someone who would not back down to any manipulation, stubborn, and grim, Kowalski was his own.

"You are correct, Kowalski, Slavery is not for us. A wise man once said: "The bureaucracy is growing to support the growing bureaucracy." I believe fully in that statement, and wish not to be a slave to such a system. Since when should those who are gifted, be restricted by our laws. "Everyone is special" is a fairly common statement, but those who are special are simply held back, conformed. I assert that it is our right to be special, in our own ways. And I also assert that Noxadrain has more flaws that it lets on, should this system be beat, we must work together. Freedom is not cheap, and there is no way, no way on this God Damned Earth, that I will not allow this expense to be paid. Not just for me, for all of us, we must carve a niche, make a stand, and take over this facility!"

With a sigh, Marionette's eyes shot towards the girl, Elsie her name was.

"Look at this one, so young, so naive. Who are they to judge you!? When your power has not even fully developed. Your true colors, not even allowed to be shown. Your curse, has not been given chance to flourish, and you have not been given the chance to control it. Marked as a criminal with no crime, what fairness is that? Where is the Justice? Due process never screwed someone over so well. And you dear, have been the victim in all of this mess. How about we make someone else the victim, and free you from the bonds of imprisonment and injustice? I could mentor you, give you control over your strengths. As you can see, I know a little bit about control."

A kind smile ran across Marionette's face, he was unkempt, but charismatic. He held the attention of the entire courtyard with his speech, eyes glazed over with wonder and awe. And he was not even using his powers, those are reserved for the weak, those whom twisted to his side without a gentle word, a kind glance, an inspiring speech. The people whom he talked to now, he regarded as equals. He meant nothing sinister in his pep talk.

Elsie looked at Micheal and Kowalski with a stressed look. ....I want my mother... She thought to herself and turned her face. Her bangs covered her eyes. "I want to go back to my bed..." She said aloud in a sad helpless voice. Maybe if I wake up... it will all go away, like a bad dream...

Fear and angst stripped away as the Noxadrain dwindled in her system, Helena looked about the yard bored.

Being detained by the doctor and left to sleep in her cell much longer than was normally allowed made her miss a couple of regular doses.

Though she wasn't near her full-potency and with her powers learning how to overcome the amount of Noxadrain it was exposed to, like bacteria immunizing itself to the slightest bit of penicillin, she realized why she was so vapid and defeated in this place--it was this crap these doctors had been giving her to stifle her from being herself.

In some it merely nulled abilities, perhaps with a side effect here or there. In Helena it had made her convinced she was a victim of a cruel world and one who needed to become more human by having her gift taken away.

Yes, the drugs were quick indeed, trying to rebuild her psyche to match what they felt she should be.

With Vincent still down behind her, it was no shock when guards flocked to her, cattle prongs out and ready but avoiding eye contact.

Helena grinned a little to herself, closed her eyes and raised her hands above her head. Her personal guards, sporting gloves and goggles, immediately blind-folded her bound her wrists behind her and guided her inside.

Henry, the man who had dispersed the crowd earlier, listened intently to Marionette. He knew it. He knew a riot was planned.

He slowly rose and walked away. He had to talk to the warden right away.

Moments after the shimmering lights of an epiphany basked down upon Lycaon, he felt light flood into his room, obscured only by the silhouetted form of a guard.

"Warden says you're free to go to back to your cell for tonight."

Lycaon merely smiled. For the first time since he arrived, he felt the flush of his normal energy flowing through his body. Power's so calming.

A guard stepped into the middle of the courtyard, reddened by the setting sun.

"Alright, report to your cells, everyone. Don't make us get forceful."

That night, in his cell, Penn sat on his bed, restraints torn off. He felt power emitting from the others. Someone had broken Noxadrain here. The battle for Bon Reve was ticking closer.

With concentrated bursts of energy, Penn prepared. The best way to repent for his crimes would be to prove he was a hero. An unworthy but powerful hero. A hero with a deathwish. The only kind of hero that could take the hidden monsters trapped inside the people here.

Back in his custom-built cell, Lycaon rubbed his wrists as his manacles were remotely unlocked. He let the softest lines of energy run between his fingers. The Noxadrain couldn't keep him tame. His power came from his souls, and as long as he was alive, no drug could block them from him. Once he had come to that realization, it was simple to break free of the drug's control.

Of course, in his khazinium cell -- carefully monitored by cameras -- his powers were next to useless. But there was one thing that Lycaon had never revealed about the metal. Where most assumed it was energy
reistant, they were wrong. Khazinium is energy absorbent. It absorbs any energy directed at it like a sponge to water. And everyone knows what happens when you pump enough water into a sponge...

To the guard assigned to monitor the feeds from the cameras in Lycaon's cell, it seemed as if the prisoner was sitting on his bed, examining his bonds. No matter, the guard assured himself, he wouldn't find any flaws.

Elsie looked at Marionette then shook her head. His words filled her head as she looked at Kowalski. She walked back to her cell and sat on her bed. Villain? She thought to herself. Elsie closed her eyes...

"She's not a monster!" She heard someone shout.

"She still scares me...." A familiar voice sounded off. It shook as she walked to the door. "Every time she looks at me she has this glare... It's like a demon inside of her I've never seen it before..."

"This demon can be tamed though.... You have to understand me. I'm speaking from experience. You can't just send her to an asylum with a bunch of criminals..."

"Not all of them are criminals, plus it would be nice if she made friends with people who are like her..."

"YOU'RE JUST SCARED! She's not mad at you for divorcing auntie!! She will understand when the time comes... Or she'll look for him herself... Are you saying that HE'S causing this? Are you solely convinced that he's to blame for the way Elsie is? So scared that you actually reported her as a villain? She has potential of being a hero and not a threat to our safety. Listen to me auntie, you're just causing Elsie more pain. Taking away her father was a part of her pain, then you take away the powers that she doesn't know she has?"

Elsie put her hands out in front of her and woke up in the middle of the night. Tears in her eyes. "Mother...... Why did you do this to me?" Elsie looked forward and sighed. Maybe... Ellen will come to visit me...

Michael sat in his cell, contemplating what had happened so far today. Marionette was intimidating the guards, almost certainly with something else on his mind, and he had heard rumors of one of the prisoners trying to break out. Also, it was certain that Penn was no longer a villian; he had agreed to cooperate and stay in prison.

And then of course there was Elsie, clearly a mentally damaged individual, someone who had gone through a lot. Would she be worth being an ally, or would she simply break down at a critical moment? He couldn't decide yet, he still had to examine her, still had to find out who or what she truely was.

Then he could reach a decision.

And then of course there was Kowalski, a man who seemed try to be good, offering help to the other prisoners, and willing to comfort those in need, but also a man who still clung to his past, still hated the heroes on the guards.

Kowalski was perfect material for what he needed.

Michael stood and started pacing...he still had plenty of time to act...

Helena was escorted through Bon Reve, unable to see which way she was being led, with a guard looping a hand under each of her bound arms. The power-dampening material of their gloves felt like vices as individual cells within her seemingly became magnetically-pulled to each arm, specifically to where they were touching her, simultaneously making her feel numb all over.

She could barely move her fingers of her own accord, as though every vein, artery, and capillary had dried up and all the blood was sucked back into her heart which now beat ever so rapidly.

The seeds of self-doubt began to resew themselves in her mind. Knowing they were her side effects to deal with, she tried her best to push them aside and focus on the present matter. She breathed deeply and calmed herself down.

She'd been cool when they took her into their custody. She'll maintain her frosty attitude now.

Yes. It was working.

In this choice of fight or flight, they'd been trying to make her fear them with their pharmaceuticals and nullifiers. She would battle this, not cower as she'd so shamefully been programmed to do.

"I bet you think you're hot shit, don'tcha? Cunt," she heard to the right of her.

"Jones. Now's not the time," a voice to her left answered.

"Think it's funny to nearly kill that guy back there? I'm fucking tired of you people running this world into the ground for your shits and giggles. You're all a disease."

"Jones, shut up. OK?"

"No, man, I'm sick of this shit. Why would God go and create these fucking monsters and make honest, hard-working people deal with them? They aren't natural. No one should be able to just touch a person and steal years of their life away. That's fucked up."

"You done?"

"And to top that off, the bitch makes people want to do it. To goddamn kill themselves for her." She felt jerked around as Jones, the guard to her right, shook her out of frustration.

"Would you fucking calm down already? It's not like the guy she took down back there was a saint. Hell, it'd probably be better if she brought a bunch of these assholes' counters down to 0. They wouldn't be our problem any more, that's for sure."

"Fuck yeah. She'd be doing us a favor getting rid of a lot of these dickweeds."

"You guys, do realize I can hear you, right?" Helena interjected.

"Shut the fuck up, you whore," Jones retorted.

"Look, you obviously don't know anything about me, and I don't know what's making you tick. Just fucking stuff it," she answered.

"Yeah, I'll fucking stuff it. In your mouth."

"Ooo, your threats of sexual assault make me quiver with anticipation. You fucking mortals this century are all the same. Got anything to add about my 'mama'?"

"Enough already," The voice to her left said, rejoining the conversation. "You're going straight to the medical ward and having whatever procedure you were supposed to have done that makes you a person just like us. And then you'll out of our hair."

"Oh hell yeah. I can finally stop wearing all this mad scientist crap. It's fucking hot under all of this."

"Would you like me more if I made rainbows shoot out your ass? Make kittens and naked women rain from the sky?" Helena prodded him. "No need for the 'mad scientist crap' then. Maybe if I took up gallivanting around in a costume with an asinine name like your self-proclaimed heroes out there, hmm? How do you know they won't fail you? That they're just trying to weed out the other ability-charged individuals out there so they can take over? Do you even know their real names? Know whom to hold accountable when things go wrong? Whenever a policeman shoots a child by mistake it's all over the news for weeks. How many cities have your 'heroes' nearly destroyed trying to quote-unquote save you little insects? As I recall, Captain Super Cool nearly knocked down the Sears Tower a few times throwing people like me into it just to knock them out. How trained are your heroes, huh?"

"Will you fucking shut up?" Jones insisted, shaking her again.

"Really. How many people have been killed when buildings they're inside fall on other people. How much property damage have they caused? Maybe you're afraid to admit that your idols are just as bad as the people they proclaim they're fighting against?"

"I said shut.. the.. fuck.. up!"

With his free right hand, Jones clocked Helena across her face and knocking her to the floor. Where she lay sprawled, unmoving.

"WHAT THE HELL, JONES?!" The other guard demanded.

"The damn cunt needed to shut her trap and I'm not in the mood for her bullshit."

"She's just a girl. You knocked out a teenager because you couldn't take a little attitude? We had her under control!"

"She's a fucking prisoner here, Evans. As far as I'm concerned she doesn't deserve to live!!

As they argued, Helena began to feel all of the circulation returning to her hands almost instantly. All her years of living on the streets and surviving off occasional stints in prostitution had taught her a few things.

One, she was durable enough to take the hit.

And two, she was ridiculously flexible.

While they were distracted, she threw her legs above her, folding herself in half, and brought her bound wrists around her ass, up her legs and over her feet.

She pulled off the blindfold, jumped to her feet and ran as fast as she could away from the guards.

"Hey!!!" they shouted in unison, and darted after her.

Elsie fell back asleep and began to dream again.

"Elsie...." A voice sounded. "Eeeeeeeelsie..."

"Who's there?" Elsie turned around in the fear.

"It's me... Cousin, I'm here for you...." A woman with brown hair walked behind Elsie and hugged her. "I'm right here..."

Elsie blinked and hugged the figure back. She looked at the figure. "What's going on why am I here? I want to go home."

"Follow the leads you have... Don't lose sight with your anger and keep control of your feelings okay Elsie?"

Elsie nodded and cried. "Is that all you have to say to me?"

"No... I love you Elsie. You're the greatest cousin ever..."

Elsie woke up crying. "Ellen...."

Henry stood in the warden's office by the door, his head tilted downwards. The undercover prisoner had told the warden everything he had learned. Some of the prisoners were resisting the Noxadrain, and a riot was festering in the cells.

From behind his desk, his face obscured in shadow, the warden spoke. "Do you know how I became the warden of this institution, Henry?"

"No, sir, I do not."

"Forty years ago, I was an idealist. I saw the Flower Children spreading the ideas of peace and love, and it inspired me to act. They were preaching what the world needed, but they credibility, they lacked results. I became passionate in my goal to make a world without supervillains. And, after a chance encounter with a superhero, I found the way. By closely observing this superhero, I discovered a way to artificially copy his ability to suppress powers. I thought I had found the cure to the world's problems. I had found Noxadrain."

Henry's eyes rose and widened as the warden continued.

"However, there were snags during the early testing. I found that the energy in Noxadrain was essentially suppressing the will of the subject. However, with enough willpower, test subjects found they could overcome the drug. The drug was a dud, and for a long time, I was a broken man."

Henry was confused. "But Noxadrain's been proven to work. It's kept villians safely locked away here and at other facilities around the world. Did you change the formula?"

The warden laughed under his breath. "No, son, it's the same drug. You see, Noxadrain's success rates are due to the brainstorm of a high ranking official in the ISPF. His idea was simple: When we release the drug, control the medical field and demand they say the drug is effective. Through a successful media campaign, the whole bought the drug as a foolproof, albeit expensive, cure for supervilliany. Now, every superhuman detention facility uses the drug as standard procedure. Without it, the only prison that could hold the real villains is the ISPF's Monolith. That was built before Noxadrain, and can handle its own still without it."

Henry gasped. "That means that if there was a break out here..."

"Yes, Henry. The world would burn. If what you say is true, the hellfire that will be unleashed upon the entire world will have started here under my very nose."

"Well, what should we do to stop it, sir?"

The warden thought to himself a moment before speaking again. "The news of immunity would scare me more if not for the breakthrough I've recently made. I have used this facility not only as a rehabilitation clinic, but as a scientific playground for like-minded scientists. And now, an experimental procedure is set to be tested tommorow upon Helena which would once more revolutionize the world. Only this time, unlike Noxadrain, this cure is true.

Essentially, we have prepared an operation to give repeat supervillains an artificial organ which produces a natural, individualized power suppressant chemical. With this organ, borne of their own DNA and produced in a few hours time, we can make supervillains regular humans."

Henry stood still in stunned silence.

"Tomorrow will be a day of revolution. If Helena survives the operation and it is at least partially successful, we will begin emergency operations on those most likely to instigate their riot. After forty years, I have found a way to make the world a good place again. Not the Dark Lord himself could rise up and stop me now."

Henry nodded, his faith reinvigorated. "I'll prepare a list for you tommorow morning, sir. Sleep well."

Just as that conversation ended, another began. A young guard was ambling through the halls of Bon Reve when he saw the agile Helena running his way. His body encased itself in nothingness, and before she had ever seen him, she could no longer see him. He extended his arm where Helena's trajectory seemed to predict, and after five seconds, the young guard's invisible clothesline brought Helena to an immediate halt. He brought his weight down upon her, restraining her quickly, and appeared before her.

"Where do you think you're going, honey?" He looked up at the two sweaty guards jogging to a halt in front of him, clearly exasperated. "Wonderful work, by the way. You're the facilities' finest."

Elsie got out of her bed and looked around. The stress began to take over again. Her eyes began to thin. She looked in the mirror. "She took my father, she took my cousin's for granted..." Elsie gripped the table infront of the mirror. "What's the matter? Why are you just sitting there doing nothing... You should really get back at this bitch that took everything from you. She tricked you into coming here, you know that don't you." Elsie began to smirk. "It's okay... You'll take care of everything. These dosages of drugs aren't going to keep you down..." Elsie blinked as she gave herself a pep talk. Her grip on the table tightened. She picked it up and moved it to her light. Elsie began twisting the sheets into a rope. "There's only one way out of here..." Elsie continued to gather the sheets together and formed them into a noose. She threw it up around the light. She then stood up on the table and put the noose around her neck. Let's see if a guard will catch this... she thought.

Helena was subdued once again as the Jones and Evans collected her from the mysterious metahuman guard. Try as Helena might to kick him off or strike the other guard with both of her fists balled together, it was to no avail.

As Evans took her right arm in both hands, trying to keep her from raising hers, which were now in front of her, Jones eased up to them and stared down at Helena through the specialized German safety goggles.

She glared back at him. As he stared into her eyes, he saw her irises ripple like waves on a golden pool that had only been disturbed by the slightest leaf landing on its pristine surface.

Were it not for unique filters layering the glass of the goggles, he would have wound up like poor Vincent back in the yard; however, he still had trouble tearing his gaze away from hers. He began to feel a pang of regret for decking her and calling her all those names.

Instead of deciding to cart her into a more secluded section of the penitentiary to kick the shit out of her like he wanted to and no one would hear her scream, he resigned himself to taking up her other arm and heading with Evans to deliver her to the medical ward.

The man named Jones snapped out of it, he recovered from her gaze, but had fallen into another trap. Now, merely a toy of Marionette's, Jones took an entirely different stance, not even looking much like himself. His knowledge of the events tonight, and what was being planned by the warden became Marionette's knowledge. To this accord, Marionette was shocked. He learned that there was going to be a cure, an organic cure, to powers. Return the gifted to normalcy, perhaps even be below average! What a terrible, devious curse these tricksters planned. Marionette needed to get out, sooner, rather than later.

Now, there was something to do about this girl...Marionette could kill her here and now, but that would not stop the long-run. No, there would need to be much more planning. If the operation was unsuccessful, they might think to choose their next experiment more carefully. He could also try to take over Helena, and try to weed out the drug through his powers alone, if that was even possible. That way, any who handled her would have their life drained, and the operation inevitably postponed. And yet another plan, would be to find a way to irrevocably damage the sample, though that would only slow them a day or two...

And suddenly, Jones seemed to break free from his daze. Marionette realized his perfect plan, but needed to act fast. Tomorrow's sun would rise entirely too soon.

Upon Helena's arrival at the med ward entrance, Jones held her arms down in front of her with both hands, while Evans used one of his hands to cover her eyes.

"Awww, you guys shoulda told me you were throwing a surprise party," she smirked.

Both Jones and Evans tried their best to ignore her sarcasm this time.

She heard giant metal doors unlocking and opening in front of her then slamming shut and locking again behind her as though she were trapped in the opening to "Get Smart."

Oh gods, television. That was always something she found fascinating. She didn't watch it much, but it was amazing how news, along with pictures and video footage, could travel instantly over long distances.

Civilization had come a long way from a single man running 30 miles nonstop to proclaim defeat over the Persians before he collapsed and died from the exhaustion.

If only someone would kill that Maury Povich, though.

"Delivery," She heard Evans say as they paused in one spot.
