A purple glow appeared around Leon, coming from his inside his skin, pulsing up and down. He let out a cry of pain and doubled over, the glow surrounding him grew stronger. He lay down on the floor as cracks appeared on his skin, purple energy pouring out.
The cracks grew wider, until Leon's form was barely visible. He let out one drawn out, agonizing cry of pain as the energy burst forth, washing back over the group and receding into the distance. Leon was gone. 5 Years Later Holly looked up at Leon, his benevolent gaze staring over her. Her gaze dropped down to the plaque at the base of the statue. She ran her fingers across the engraved lines in the metal, and recited it's words in her head. Leon Machina, he gave his life to save ours. She stepped back and gazed up. Lines crisscrossed the sky of the aptly named "Dome City." 80 square miles of manually controlled living conditions, and at its center, an homage to those that were lost in the War of the Shards. To her left was an aptly designed statue of Edgar, to her right a memorial to the soldiers lost, and before her, the courthouse of the IFDF. The Integrated Factions Defence Force, a union between the new world powers, five years in the making. She pulled up her sleeve and began toying with the glass ornament on her wrist. It was an exact replica of the shard given to her by her mother. Hers, being the last in existence, was safely locked away. Seifer stood alone at the steps of St. Edgar's Cathedral, eying the stone structure with a familiar. He had helped build it, after all. Above the doorway sat the sword that Seifer had stained with Josiah's blood. It had been a gift from Edgar, and he felt it was at home there. Jack sat in the courtroom, a thin smile on his face. He'd never had a huge problem with governments combining into a world government, but he was irritated when they forced the E'shyum to participate. His people voted towards joining, and while he strongly disagreed, he allowed the E'shyum to do as they wished. It was even worse when this new government remembered his part in the Josiah catastrophe five years ago. Because of his unwilling help, the people demanded for him to be jailed. Which put him here, in a courtroom, his lawyers talking to a jury, demanding his innocence. "Long time no see, beautiful." Holly's blue eyes widened as they met with Seifer's. Despite rehearsing this moment over and over again, Holly's calm and collected greeting flew right out the window. With a squeal of excitement, she bolted from the chair, leaping directly into his arms. "You sonuvabitch!" she growled, smiling from ear to ear. There were so many things she wanted to ask him. She wanted to know everything about Isha and how everything went, in person, not through some news article. However, she bit her lip, deciding that it would probably be better to hammer the questions at him until after the trial. Seifer read Holly's racing thoughts through the waves of excitement in her icy blue eyes. After a quick kiss on the lips, he looked up at the courtroom at the end of the hall. He had a few secrets to tell Holly that would have to wait. They all sat in the IFDF courtroom, dispersed amongst the hundreds, not counting those watching through the plethora of news cameras. The entire world was watching. Holly had just finished her testimonial and began walking back to her seat. On her way, she caught the hint of a smile from Jeremy, who sat at the front of the room, facing the crowd, along with several others. As she sat down, he stood up. He walked over to a microphone, leaning on a short cane. The harpoon through his chest had only missed his heart because of the lucky, unknown side effect of gratuitous teleportation. His organs had shifted slightly, but just enough. He spoke into the microphone, quietly, but his voice carried nonetheless. "If Eric Russo is in the building, will he please take the stand?" He paused for just a moment, "I didn't think so. Then will Jack Dreddin, please take the stand?" Jeremy sat back down, as Jack, escorted by two IFDF officials, shuffled to the stand; his hands chained to his feet, and his feet chained to each other. He took his seat and, prepared to speak. But he was cut off before he began, as the far wall exploded, leaving a gaping hole that men swarmed through. They wore black outfits that covered their entire bodies, with a red line slashing from their right shoulder down past their left hip. They were armed to the tooth, and began to open fire. The guards in the room stood up, but they were only meant to guard one man, and were quickly taken out. A group of attackers spotted Holly and charged towards her. She hastily looked for Seifer, but they had been separated in the chaos around them. As they charged her, a man that had been sitting nearby that she hadn't even noticed before, stood up. He wore a black cloak and a matching hood, and he approached the assailants. Before Holly knew what was happening, the cloaked man held a long, metal staff in his hands. He swung it, and cracked it against one of the attacker's heads. He then brought it back around, and swept out another''s feet. Pivoting it over his head, he swung it down, smashing on top of the final assailant. He turned towards Holly, and removed his hood. He had a familiar face, although it had changed. It was sleeker, its cheekbones more defined, but it had the same shaved head. Holly smiled, despite the circumstances. "Eric!" |

"Eric!" Holly exclaimed, panting. She reached up and threw her arms around him. "I missed you so much!" She cried out. "You had me worried si-" She stopped just before she could end her statement. Something had brushed up against her from behind, reminding Holly of the chaos in the courthouse.
She glanced around frantically for Seifer, suddenly growing very pale, arms clenched tightly together in front of her. |

Anja sat there and looked at Jack. She remembered the case description very well. This was the first time she would EVER sit during a case. Anja spent most of her time away from all cases and worked on bills that needed to be passed. She used to research into the equality of shard users until they vanished. Her eyes moved up and down Jack's body. What's his lawyer have got to say? she thought. She tugged at the robe she had to wear. It was burning hot. Anja's eyes glared down at the lawyer.
The explosion of attackers.... Anja got up. "What is the meaning of this?!" She looked around. Anja threw her robes off revealing her business casual white blouse, black bow tie, and black pants. "I will NOT have this chaos in my courtroom! Not even when someone is trying to prove their innocence!" Anja looked at the guards. "Detain them...." She said and got out of her seat. She jumped from her seat with the other judges and walked down to Jack. Anja walked to Holly. She looked at the other judges. "I'm utterly disgusted..." She said aloud. "That judges would sit and watch the problems and not do anything..." She walked to one of the attackers and put her hand on his neck.... Dead. Anja's eyes closed tightly. She opened them and walked up to another... Dead. She finally walked to another one he was breathing heavily. "Are you okay?" No answer. "Can you hold up two fingers for me." The terrorist did as he was told. "Good..." She looked at him for injuries. "Can you tell me what's wrong?" "My chest....." Anja took out a knife she had on her and began to rip the shirt off. She held her breath. Such an impression from the staff. She looked at Eric. "You didn't have to attack them in a court room. We have personelle here to take care of this..." Anja grabbed her robe and and took a chair. She snapped two of the legs off then wrapped them around the mans chest. "You have some broken ribs, you will be alright...." Anja smiled and sighed out of relief. "I don't like seeing anybody hurt...." She looked at Eric. "You've got a lot of nerve coming in here. During someone's testimony." Anja put a hand through her hair and looked down at the terrorist. His breathing increased as fear shone in his eyes. His body began to shake as if it was in shock. "No!" She grabbed the remaining part of her robe and wrapped it around him. Her eyes changed to a determined look. Things would be different... She looked to her side. The terrorist had been carrying an M16. Anja grabbed it and looked at Eric. "Tell me... Who is responsible for this...?" (Last edited by One Shot One Kill on 09-18-08 10:15 AM) |

"Where is my client?" A voice boomed through the now eerily silent courtroom. Anyone who glanced in the direction of the voice would see the thin brunette pushing a chair off her leg so that she could stand. The now standing woman brushed off her messy black skirt and straightened the collar on her silky white blouse. If the judge was trying to get the courtroom back in order, it was Natalie's job to assist.
However, the longer she looked at Jack's empty seat, the wider her hazel eyes grew. Holly gasped as her eyes also floated toward Jack's empty seat. "E-Eric?" She stammered, looking up at her friend. Gently, she reached out and grasped Eric's arm and held it close to her chest. |

Brad sat on the couch in his living room, watching the trial. He knew that he shouldn't be watching, he had promised to himself that he'd leave his life as a soldier, and that he'd never return to it.
But still, Jack used to be a good friend, not to mention a great leader. Brad couldn't stop himself from turning on the TV for Jack's trial. As soon as the men charged into the wall, the live cameras stopped rolling, but the anchor continued to report what was going on. "Jack is gone!" the anchor said. "That" the TV beeped, clearly censoring the anchors colorful vocabulary, "just escaped form the *beep* building! He knew that he was going to be guilty, that's what it is! He got his men to free him, that *beep* coward!" "Daddy?" Brad turned around, startled, but then relaxed. It was his four year old daughter, standing there with a clearly distressed expression. "Yeah, what is it, sweetie?" he asked. "What's wrong?" He stood up. "I need to go." |

Eric grinned down at Holly. Five years ago he had taken her as his ward; put her under his personal protection. And yet, she had ended up saving his life, instead of the other way around.
"Sorry I've been gone so long, hun. I had some... personal issues I had to deal with." He clicked a button on his staff, and it instantly telescoped down to a size barely larger than his palm, which he quickly pocketed. He pulled with the arm that Holly clung to, bringing her into a hug. "But when I caught wind that the Rogue Wave was planning an attack, I couldn't take the chance that you might not have been able to handle yourself. I was wrong, of course. I bet if I hadn't shown up you would have sassed those goons out of existence." |

Seifer had been momentarily lost in the crowd, reacting with the rest of the guards. When the dust settled and everyone who could escape did, Seifer was already in motion. He had huddled up with a group of agents who quickly dispersed, and with that settled, he turned his attention to Eric and Holly.
"Timely arrival, Eric. You'd have been more useful as testimony then defense, but it doesn't matter now. Jack's gone. I've got units watching the walls for him, but we should act fast. Who's with me?" |

Holly looked up at Eric and smiled. "I missed you." was all she got out before Seifer's movements caught her eye.
"Of course his arrival was in good timing!" She exclaimed, almost outraged, but smiling all the same. "Otherwise I would have had to waste my energy 'sassing' them do death!" Holly adds, looking up at Eric to stick her tongue out at him. "But...I'd like to go too---" "I can't believe this." Natalie sighed, her voice booming over Holly's, thus cutting her off. "I have to go with you." She says, making her way over to Seifer, Eric, and Holly. "As long as there's a shot for a trial, I'm legally bound to protecting the bastard anyway." |

Seifer glanced over at Jack's lawyer. "I pity you and your case, Natalie."
Seifer had found himself angered by the presence of Eric, mainly due to the closeness Eric assumed with her. Though Seifer had never been an orthodox guy, he found the stereotypical feelings of jealousy swimming through his mind. "Alright, let's go. I'll take front, Eric in the back, Holly and Natalie in center. Everyone else can catch up." Seifer's hands began to emanate a purple mist, meaning he had begun to focus the Aurora. He began towards the gaping hole, following the trail of chaos drifting off into the distance. |

Icav slowly rises from his seat brushing dust off his uniform iinspecting the group discussing their own plans in regards to the attack, he strides quickly over to them while withdrawing a small phone from his pocket.
As he draws near he coughs quietly to draw the groups attention, "Gentlemen...Lady you may not remember me but I am General Icav Ribe. We had a brief run in a few years ago during the first war. But enough with the formalities I am here to assist and...control this situation as this is directly related to war crimes and...unique circumstances this falls under SOTC's jurisdiction." He looks at the phone and drops it back into his pocket having triggered the silent alarm, the buzz of descending helicopters is heard faintly through the newly created...Door. Zip Lines descend from the choppers as black uniformed and masked men descend from the choppers all bearing the the IFDF SOTC Insignia on their arms. (Last edited by Spartan on 09-24-08 03:00 PM) |

Seifer groaned loudly. "Great, SOTC. Listen, Ribe, we don't need a genocide right now. It might be an opportunity for you to act, but don't think you're in charge here."
Seifer began for the door again, but a familiar face stepped in through the doorway. The young prodigy Tobias Wolff entered, eying the chaos. "They retreated to the east, Seifer, and they've got back up." Seifer growled. His patience was running thin. "Holly, I know you'd like to come, but while you have the baby you're at risk. Right now, I think it would be safest if you stayed with the main forces." |

Icav smirks at Seifer and gestures at his men taking up positions as the helicopters settle down and a few more heavily armed troops exit them taking up positions around them.
"I think that you don't quite understand my position here, he is wanted by the IFDF he will be taken under IFDF custody if you want to help we play by my rules. Or you can just go home and let the professionals handle it." Icav turns his blue eyes back to the men of his division beginning to search the area around the facilities. "The simple fact is that I am coming along and there is not much you can say to stop me from making sure he comes back into our hands. Plus I have access to materiel that you cannot acquire. Unless you plan to walk everywhere". |

Seifer stopped dead in his tracks.
"You have got to be one of the biggest, damnable fools I've ever met. Who the fuck do you think signs your goddamn checks?" Seifer looked at him with a mocking look of confusion. "Whatever. Come on, everyone. Tobias, lead the way." Tobias nodded and ran off, and Seifer followed close behind. He was done negotiating. (Last edited by Cairoi on 09-24-08 05:46 PM) |

Alden hung up his phone and approached the group.
"Sorry, Seifer, but this doesn't fall under your jurisdiction. It is, however, that of SOTC's. Now, I understand that you have a personal stake in this, we all do, and the thought of a group devoted to Josiah is frightening; but charging off without any planning will not work. This is the IFDF, our prerogative is the people, and our first objective is to assess the damage left by the attack, then we can go after the fugitive." Jack had been traveling for hours, when he was pulled from whatever god forsaken vehicle they had been transporting him in. They dragged him some distance before pushing him down into a chair and whisking off the hood that had been over his head. Before him stood ten masked men, all dressed in the same outfits as those that had attacked the courtroom. He was in a large room, abundant with wooden support beams. The windows were blacked out, and the room was lit by dim bulbs hanging on chains from the ceiling. The man at the head of the group Jack and peeled his mask off, revealing a thin, black goatee, and short, shaggy hair. He held a short-sword in his hand. It had a gold hilt with a silver inlay, and the wide, flat blade was methodically etched. He tightened his grip on the sword and approached Jack. (Last edited by FX on 09-24-08 06:38 PM) |

Jack shook his head sadly. "From one prison to the next," he said. "Only, I get the feeling that since I was already prisoner, you wouldn't have kidnapped me unless I had something you needed. So, what is it?"
He smirked, "information...or expertise?" _______________________________ "You already left them!" Brad looked at his wife, Emily. "I know," he said. "But I have to, Jack was my friend, and it's personal now. Besides, the reports are saying that Rogue Wave may have been behind it. If it has to do with Josiah, I MUST go and help." Emily gave a small sigh and shook her head. "Come back alive," she said, a small tear in her eye. "I don't know how I'd raise our kids without you." "I will," he said. They kissed, and he walked out the door. (Last edited by Vulkar on 09-24-08 07:19 PM) |

(OOC: Too late FX. Seifer's character had already exited...unless Alden followed after Seifer to talk to him. Therefore he wouldn't be at the group. Sorry...important not to have confused, that way I don't talk to a character who isnt there, or you aren't talking to a character who isn't there.)
Holly began to follow suit, but was stopped first by Icav's, then Tobias' interruption. She looked over at Icav. He was strangely familiar. Someone she had once seen with her father, years ago. However, if he knew her father from the Marinae days, then surely, Icav would have recognized and greeted Holly, so Holly assumed she had confused him with the wrong man. When Tobias made his enterence, Holly smiled. She had seen the boy several times since Seifer had taken him under his wing. She liked him and thoroughly enjoyed seeing them together. Seifer seemed almost as excited as he did whenever he spoke of his own mentor. She opened her mouth to greet the boy, but once again was interrupted. This time it was Seifer's refusal of her accompanying them. "But..." She protested, glancing up at Seifer with a crestfallen stare. Liz Cromwell rose from her fiance's side as he picked up his cell phone and made her way to the group. "Holly dear...he's right." Liz looked over at Seifer and winked, letting him know that she would handle Holly. Holly now turned her attention to Liz and opened her mouth to protest, but Liz raised a finger, signaling that she wouldn't have it. "I know you can handle it, but you have other responsibilities." She says softly, putting an arm gently around Holly's shoulder, nudging her in the opposite direction. Defeated, Holly allowed herself to be escorted in the opposite direction. "We'll meet you back at the base." Liz whispered in Alden's other ear as she and Holly passed by, exiting the courtroom. Natalie sighed. It didn't matter who's tactics she wished to follow. Her interest in Jack was part of her job at the moment, and she had no choice but to follow Alden, Icav, as well as Anja's decisions. "Look...if Jack belongs in the custody of the IFDF....in fact, ESPECIALLY if it's our custody he belongs in, I have to go with you. Whether you like it or not, sir, I am legally bound to him." She says, turning in Icav's direction. |

Anja watched in shock as Seifer came and left. She kept a look and grabbed Holly's hand. "What was that?" She said. "You're pregnant... I could see it." She looked at the man she had tried to save. He was in shock. His breathing stopped. Anja gripped her hand other hand onto Holly's hand. I could've saved him... "I'm keeping you here," Anja said and looked at Natalie. "You've got your assignment go with it." Anja sighed and looked at Holly. "You're going to explain somethings to me." | |||

Davion stood with the group, he missed the action, but was well enough caught up from the others here to know what happened. His eyes watched Seifer storm out, and Holly was left behind. These two helped the Savior, they must be wonderfully powerful. He held a book closed close to his stomach, it read "A Gift of Light to Vanquish the Darkness." The book was bound in leather, and was a Shard Theory book written by Leon Machina. Possibly one of the most insightful books written on them, but insight always was the Savior's gift. His holiest Shard eye gave him the ability to look into the soul of shards, and figure out their purpose. Davion's eyes were gleeful, it was always a dream of his to meet the entourage of Leon.
"Hello, Holly, I am pleased to meet you, my name is Davion, and I worked with Leon a long time ago." Quick and to the point, Davion always spoke his mind. |

Natalie looked over at Anja. Gave a curt nod and turned her attention back to Icav and Alden, awaiting their agenda, but itching to do it Seifer's way.
"Hn?" Holly mewed as Anja reached out for her hand. The attention was a shock to her as she attempted to force herself to come to terms with staying out of this one. "Things to explain?" She repeated, glancing up at Liz, who shrugged in response. "Well...if you REALLY want to know." She says, grinning playfully. "It began when Seifer came home for a little while, unannounced." Her eyebrow cocked and the corner of her mouth twitched, the smile fighting to stay. "He swept me off my feet and--" she was cut off. The real shock of the day so far. While she didn't hope for it, Holly wasn't shocked by the attack, nor was she terribly shocked by Eric's sudden appearance. He was, afterall, invited to the trial. Leon. The man whom she had met when she was still just a teenager. The man whom she had grown to admire and look up to. The man whom she had once saved, and failed to save another time... Not realizing that a man she had not previously met knew her name, Holly looked up at Davion. She tried to speak but could find no words. He knew Leon... She thought to herself. Her playful grin turned into a heartfelt smile. "Hello Davion." She says softly, reaching out to shake his hand. |
