When I registered at the DMV, I put down Green party initially, but the lady threw out my registration form and I didn't bother to tell her to keep it.
The next time around, I put down Republican just for shits and it stuck. I just haven't bothered to change it. Meh, I still got to vote for my choice candidate at the primaries, and the blue-haired old ladies who run my polling place always tell me it's so refreshing when they hand a "young person" a Republican ballot. |

Don't you have to vote for the party you're registered for, or was that only in the primaries?

That was a strictly primaries thing. You know, just so Dems don't purposely vote for someone they're sure the candidate of their choice will beat and Republicans with Dem candidates.
So yeah, I voted Republican in the primaries. See if you can guess how I'll vote next month. |

Yeah, I figured it was like that, but I didn't want to take any chances, so I registered Democrat, instead of undeclared like I wanted to.

They put out another one with Jessica Alba and Hayden Panetierre:
What a novel idea--Reverse psychology. Holy shit, that's never been done before. |

I kept looking at the "Quantity Left" number. A lot of people seemed to be very interested. I haven't seen number go down that fast since the stock market began plummeting a while ago.

Jonah and Sarah were the only funny ones.....
I wonder.....how many people really register to vote because of celebrities? This is definitely a novel idea. But I feel like it isn't as effective as people would like it to be. I've seen this allll over youtube and blogs. So I know the message is being thrown out there. But will it really motivate people? Is someone going to watch this and say " Gee.. Leonardo Di Caprio's irony really makes me want to vote. " Edit: I'm not cynical. I just have an empty stomach. (Last edited by Shuyin on 10-07-08 03:33 PM) |

I don't even know who I'll vote for. Probably McCain. It's too bad Ron Paul still isn't in.

Originally posted by Cyro Xero My thoughts exactly. At least when I voted for him in the primary I didn't feel like I was choosing the lesser evil among many. I was going with someone I believed in. I, however, will not be giving my single, popular vote to the dream team of McCain/Palin though. Doesn't really matter who gets my vote anyway. My state ALWAYS votes democratic when it comes to electoral votes. |

Aw shit. You serious? That fires up the "Bush" alarm in my head, or raises the "Bushometer". Either way, hearing something like that makes glad that I'll be in Korea for a year. I didn't watch it. Man, we don't need someone like that. And Obama doesn't really look to be that experienced at all. Dammit. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 10-08-08 11:11 PM) |

I'm fairly torn...Well, a little more than "fairly".
**sighs** I thought this would get easier as I got older. The world's problems just keep getting crazier and crazier by the year. Either that or it has always gone at this pace. It's just made known to us sooner thanks to globalization and instant communication. I didn't even register. And for that reason, I'm not going to sit around and "bitch" about the state of things, with the exception of educational purposes. I just still feel...too naive. I know I can register as undecided and all. Being the middle man isn't TOO terrible, since neither side is perfect, but I'm simply in the middle out of indecisiveness, not just open mindedness. Not saying that I'm never going to register, but there's nothing wrong with taking a little extra time to become more comfortable with the notion and make myself a much more informed member of the voters club we citizens form...right? |

Quick note, I got that quote from McCain wrong (I was paraphrasing). It's actually this:
