I don't really keep up with prices on computers/laptops, but those are definitely some nice specs. And if I remember right the laptop I've had for a few years (got it for graduation, Dell Latitude D820) was nearly $2,000 and isn't even half of what that laptop is, heh.
I'm no expert, but I'd say that's a pretty damn good deal. 1GB DDR ram... 80GB HD... sigh. (Last edited by Xeu on 02-22-09 11:31 AM) |

It's ok. You're laptop kicked the hell out of my old one. |

Not too shabby. You might have saved some cash (~$50-$100) by ordering online, but then shipping's a bee-otch. Anyway, nice laptop. I'm thinking of getting a netbook myself. I leave gaming to the desktop(s). My laptop is strictly for interwebs and taking notes in my last semester of college.
My laptop is very much worse than your old ones, I'm betting. I'm using it right now. Its a P3 (750MHz), 320MB SDRAM, 20GB 42000RPM ATA/10 HDD, ATI RAGE Mobility 32MB video, on board stereo sound (one speaker is broken), 10/100 ethernet, and one USB 1.0 port. My wireless is a USB dongle, so I don't really have a USB port if I have wireless (which is most of the time v_v) |

I have you beat in the processor department (quad core @2.4Ghz) but your video card slaps mine silly (Nvidia 9500GT)!
If you have the know-how, Vista is actually quite nice and doesn't take up too many resources AND looks pretty! Here's my desktop as an example... |

Actually, it would have cost way more to have it ordered online... and I got it for less than what Gateway lists on their website.
quad-core... drool. But hey, mine will run Wrath of the Lich King and NWN2, so I am happy. |

Originally posted by Elara Don't overestimate the quad core, as only a handful of programs can even utilize the duo for now. I have been playing around with 3d modeling, though, and that's where it truly shines, but as far as games go, the duo does just fine. I was mostly commenting on the speed of the processor, which is the most important part. I could have one with 8 cores but if it ran at 1.8 Ghz it wouldn't be that noticeable, with the exception of multitasking of course. On the other hand, there are always dual processors... EDIT: Mine is awesome for WotLK and NWN2 as well (except for the toolset, which doesn't like Vista). A bit dry on the graphics processing but it leaps hundreds of miles in front of my old pc, that's for sure. Just need to get my hands on a more powerful GPU and possibly a power supply and I'll be set. (Last edited by Valhalla on 02-25-09 01:40 AM) |
