I couldn't find a thread on this, but if there is one, oh well.

So the new Wolverine movie is coming out with great anticipation among Marvelverse lovers.

Not only is it a prequel, addressing Logan's (or should I say James's?) days as Weapon X but it'll be featuring in their first big screen appearances Deadpool AND Gambit.

First picture put out with Taylor Kitsch as Gambit:

Van Wilder star Ryan Reynolds is going to be Merc-with-the-Mouth Deadpool, for those of you who didn't already know.

Yeah, that was at Comic-Con. Don't remember why I didn't go to that panel, but here's another camera shooting it here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/x-men_movies/x-men_origins_wolverine/news/?a=4882 (Slightly clearer)

Supposedly it's going to officially hit the web on Dec. 12.

Not that I'm really complaining, but I'm wondering why Gambit's there. It looks like they've got a young Storm and possibly a young Bobby Drake, and they've got Remy there as an adult. In keeping with the X-Men storyline, Gambit's probably around Storm's age (and he doesn't have a healing factor like Wolvie and Deadpool).

I'm also a bit surprised to see what looks like a teenage Emma Frost (the girl who forms diamond skin near the end of the trailer). She'd be a welcome addition as well.

Didn't expect to see Blob, but whatev.

OK, so I saw it today.

It leaked. Can find it here if it's still available: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XODE4MTk2NzY=.html

It's definitely better than X3, but they totally ruined Deadpool. He's awesome at the beginning, kinda wtf at the end.

Overall pretty good.

Saw it on DVD tonight. Badass movie. Watched it with a buddy, and the version we had was a bit of a raw version- having polygonal CGI objects instead of realistic looking things. Still, it didn't take away from the movie that much. It was still very good.

Yeah, I saw a raw version too. I think the one that leaked was 95% done.

I've been reading some of the reviews from other people who saw it and a lot of them are absolutely disgusted with it. Like when someone said, "It's slightly better than X3," they got ripped apart.

I mean, fanboys will piss and moan about anything that doesn't fulfill every single one of their elevated expectations, but they do have a few points here and there.

The pacing was a bit fast with very little character development outside of Logan, the main storyline regarding his girlfriend was a bit lame, and (I agree with the fanboys on this next one) they absolutely ruined Deadpool.

And regarding Deadpool, I'm not talking they had a bad actor, gave him bad lines, or any of that. Frankly he was pretty cool at the beginning, and Ryan Reynolds would have fit Deadpool's wise-ass comments perfectly. I mean, what they did with him at the end... that's like making Rogue into a mecha and calling it cannon.

But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. The print we saw was a few months old, and Fox really did spend a lot of time and money since then on reshoots. Aint It Cool is saying the final cut is 20 minutes longer.

So, a desperately important question...

Does Deadpool break the fourth wall in Wolverine? It was pretty much a trademark act for the character in the comics, so does he still do it?

Unfortunately no.

No talk of the yellow boxes recording his thoughts (which there aren't any in the film, of course), nothing.

Yeah, I heard they ruined the "Merc-with-the-mouth"...

Only part that I think is going to get to me. Luckily, I'm only a casual fan, so since I don't know every blessed thing about this stuff, I tend to thoroughly enjoy the movies, even though fanboys hate them.

The definitive on-screen version of Deadpool out there thus far is the Weapon X/Wolverine part of Hulk Vs. It's animated, but the actor doing Deadpool's voice is much closer to the character than the ending result of Ryan Reynolds' portrayal.

Spoiler regarding your comment, Katana:
Spoiler:
They took away his mouth.

At the end, Deadpool is a collection of powers from other mutants (he can teleport, heal, use Cyclops' optic blasts, etc), and his friggin' swords coming out of his hand/wrist like Logan's claws.

But about the mouth thing. They freakin' covered it up with flesh and skin. He has NO mouth at the end.

He's the Merc with the Mouth WITHOUT a MOUTH.

So it's officially out now...

Poop, huge amounts of poop.

Worse than X3? I dunno, both are pretty bad. Here's some random thoughts:
- Honestly did not care for the actor they got for Gambit. His character was pretty flat. Not like he was that useful/had a lot of lines or anything though ... disappointing.
- I actually think Ryan Reynolds could play an awesome Deadpool and I liked him in the first half, but are you kidding me with what they did with him later? What's worse? The lasers? The swords? The mouth!? That should've been an original character because that was just NOT Deadpool, ugh.
- The CG seemed terrible at times, especially Wolverine's claws. I'm sure anyone noticed them when he was in the bathroom looking at them in the mirror, that just looked flatout goofy. I don't remember them looking that bad at all in the previous movies, but maybe it's been awhile...
- CG Xavior, lol.
- It also bugs me that it seems like Fox doesn't care to make any real connections to this and the previous X-Men movies. Lots of issues here.

Overall the whole movie just had this "pointless" feel to it for me. The credits rolled and I just wasn't satisfied at all, it just did not feel like a complete movie, or something. I can't even explain it but it just wasn't that interesting at all. I think this goes along with not being a huge Wolverine fan and well after this movie, I've gotta say that I'm just downright tired of his character. Was he not already the biggest main character in the X-Men movies? Because he definitely seemed like it to me...

I'm tired of Fox Marvel movies. It's a shame Marvel Studios couldn't do this.

You guys see the extra scene(s) after the credits? Apparently theaters show different scenes, both are pretty terrible.

Spoiler:

1. The one I saw, you see in the rubble where Deadpool, Wolverine, and Sabertooth all fought ... Deadpool's arm emerges from some rocks then crawls over to his head. His eyes open up and it's revealed that his mouth is "broken up" or open now and he says ... "Shhhh".

Are you kidding me?

2. Apparently you see Wolverine in a bar drinking. Someone asks, "Drinking to forget?" and he says, no kidding, "No, I'm drinking to remember". Wow!

In the bootleg version that I saw, I do remember the Logan sitting at the bar scene.

I'd be interested to see the Deadpool scene, though. Wade was indeed able to reattach his head and arms and such when they were cut off because the Weapon X project gave him Wolverine's healing factor.

Under the mask, Wade does resemble Ryan Reynold's ending appearance, minus the mouth issue.
