It's been a fascinating few weeks. Last weekend we went to see a friend in a Star Trek-themed operetta, "U.S.S. Pinafore," which was adapted from the work of Gilbert and Sullivan. The next day, we ended up wandering into open studios day at the old barracks in San Pedro with Stitch and another friend. Hadn't been in a couple years.

This past week was finals, which I hope I did all right on. My broadcast teacher made us screen our videos and they really liked mine. I had a final every day. For the most part, I had to write long papers to turn in. I wrote them on the morning they were due, because I'm a procrastinator like that and just don't feel up to do something like that unless I really have to.

Friday, had a journalism banquet and walked away with seven awards. Hurried home and packed and left for the San Francisco area that night, getting to our hotel at 6 a.m. Was woken up by housekeeping around 8, and headed down to Maker Faire for the most amazing day. Spent the next day in San Francisco exploring. Came home last night around 3 a.m.

Now I'm just editing photos and enjoying doing nothing more than thinking up activities to do. Reading and making things are at the top of the list.

Anyway ... BREAK!!!

BREAK! Indeed...

...for two weeks.

I'll be full time at school for the summer. Taking some Networking Fundamentals course and another one in Electronics, on top of Lifetime Fitness. And if I can manage to get a part time job (which I really need at this point) I'll probably be crazy busy this summer.

Speaking of finals... just checked my grades online, got 2 B's in my tech courses! I'm proud, considering they were pretty fun and challenging.

My grades are starting to come in. So far 3 Bs and a C. Still waiting on the broadcast class which will be either an A or a B. Pretty much looking at a 3.0 this semester.

It was a pretty tough semester, but damn it, I earned some time off.

It's amazing that I sometimes feel like I'm really busy, but I have absolutely nothing to do..

I have work on Mondays and most Tuesday and Thursdays. I have a friend who comes over to my house NEARLY every night. But other than that, my schedule is pretty open.

And NO, I don't spend all of the rest of my time watching anime.

This passed weekend was BUSY.

Went to two conventions (Los Angeles Rock'n Comic Con and Gamex), plus Voidcrush had a show Saturday and we had to go to a film festival where their music video was being screened Sunday night. The Croatian festival Sunday afternoon was also complete food overload.

Was still able to do some light hiking at the tidepools and Griffith Park between those things.

Spent yesterday and now today cleaning my room. I still can't believe there's a floor in here.

EDIT: I rolled down the stairs in GIGANTIC blob of laundry last night. There's a photo somewhere of me trying to get the densely packed mass through the bottom and just laying on top of all of it.

Sort of. I live in an upstairs room, with the laundry room being downstairs. Rather than pick up everything in several basketloads we just threw everything onto the stairs to roll it all down in one gargantuan heap.

Thing is, the pile was HUGE. Like I couldn't move most of it and ended up having to fall on the hillock just to get it moving. The pile now takes up a quarter of our breakfast nook and it's 4-feet high.

Okay I'm going to sound like a lazy bitch (because I'm still not working), but I think I'm gonna drop one of my classes this semester... maybe you guys won't blame me.

Still need to go into my Electronics class today, but chances are pretty high it could be 4 hours long.

Yesterday I had my Networking class, which was also you guessed it, 4 hours long. This on top of covering lots of crazy and technical material in an 8 weeks course, two days a week, the teacher seemed a bit odd and made some war joke... I think he's going a bit senile. But on top of hard material moving extremely fast, you're also expected to spend a lot of time on the subject outside of school. This is something I fail pretty hard at when it comes to school. I pretty much need to be in the school environment to really focus, so this isn't good news (for instance I HATE online courses. I just can't motivate and bring myself to do them).

I have a feeling my Electronics class will not require a lot of time outside of class and school, so it could be much easier, not to mention I took Digital Electronics last semester so I already know a good bit. So I might stick it out with this class...

I just don't think I could handle the Networking one right now on top of this other class. It does not sound like it was meant for summer, so I think I'll consider taking it again this Fall for more regular pacing... maybe see if there's other teachers too. Either way if I stick with Electronics and Fitness I'll still make out with 5 credits for summer.

Anyways, I think I need a part time job right now either way to save up more money, and taking away that Networking class will free up my Monday's and Wednesday's completely. I might have to finally take out loans this next semester unless I get a decent job here quick.

Am I lazy or does the class sound pretty intense? lol...

4 hours long? Seriously? And you take it twice a week? At university level, you only hear about classes being that long if you're only taking that class once weekly. Or it's a grad school class and you're a nut for that sort of thing.

Today's sort of a legal day, it seems. Got contacted by the lawyer again about the class action lawsuit about drafting my declaration. Also, I have to drive by the school today to drop off the signed documents saying it's OK for this professor to use pictures I took in her textbook.

This past weekend was spent wandering. Went to a pagan festival, then to a cosplay cafe, then to an artwalk, then to a metal show. Next day, wandered to a museum, then to a soda shop, then to a festival around these really old houses in L.A., ate Chinese tacos, then wandered to the beach and walked up some steep hills, then wandered to the docks for dinner.

And I've got a new camera. !!!!

Right now sipping rose petal soda and listening to Brechtian cabaret punk. Think I might go ballooning later. Maybe.

Busy might be an understatement. Its on myself, but I have so much work to complete in so little time. My senior year in highschool is finally almost over, but i'm so far behind on work because I procrastinate like nobody's bussiness. I need every single one of my classes to graduate, and i'm gonna fail if I don't have a shit load of work done by tomorrow morning. Guess who's pulling an all nighter?!

As of right now, I need:

AP Psychology:
-Project with written report

Stat:
-seven assignments

Creative Writing:
-Every assignment i've had in that class all year, because im horrible at actually doing the work.

AP Physics:
-Make-up work that will allow me to pass

Pop-culture:
-scrapbook showing popular culture since the year I was born. More details, but irrelevant

Painting and Drawing:
-Face collage

Adv English 12:
-Two essays

I. Am. Dead.

I will be up all night working on this crap. Wish me luck.

Ah...Phoenix...I remember being busy like that in high school. And I was a pretty terrible procrastinator too. Although I don't know if it was because I just worked better under pressure or what, but when it came to academics, I always did better when my work was last minute anyway.

Xeo, I don't think it's lazy. Going to school and working at the same time is hard. It's one of the main reasons why college has been so damn difficult for me to get through, thus far. And it's hard to get in that frame of mind too. I don't think it's always about the physical. Sometimes mental and emotional slumps come up as well. Usually, in those situations, I try my best to get myself pumped to get up and do, and then I just close my eyes and just get up and do. Easier said than done, but in most cases, I have come to realize that it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Except going to art school full-time and working part-time simultaneously. That's a pain in the ass. For me at least. But also, "to each their own." Academics come easy to me. So that wasn't a problem, but for some people it's hard. Just like art, some people can get into it with much less difficulty and strain, and their work is soooooo much better than mine. Doesn't mean I suck, or other people are dumb. It just means that we are all good at different things. **shrugs** But yeah, a summer course, twice a week, 4 hours EACH...does seem like a lot. I'd say you're wiser for taking it in the fall. Just because you're altering your schedule doesn't mean you're lazy either. It just means you're altering and for good reason, because some situations just set us up to fail, so why spend time and money when we don't think we can hack what we're spending the time and money on?

And Rogue...damn you! I want to go to conventions and stuff. Badass that you get to go though.

I WAS going to go to Philly's Comic-Con this year, but it's this weekend, and I've been called in to work the whole weekend. **shrugs** That's pretty much it for me. I've been busy because I've had odd shifts this past week. My store has a lot going on, and I need to be there for like all of it.

I work okay last minute, too (my essay was badass. Parasites.), but I wish I had more time. I mean, its not that I dont have time--I do. I just procrastinate to the point where im overwhelmed with work.

So what the hell has everyone been up to lately?

It's the first weekend in a while that I've just sat in front of the computer. I still need to write a con report for my friend's website.

I'd rather be going out today. I've got ideas of places to go, but Brandon's at work.

It's another couple weeks until Comic-Con, and then another month before class starts up again. I've been devising a few projects... the first being to bake some cookies.

Mmmmm....cookies.

Me? I'm sitting around thinking about the Dreamworld now, but my girlfriend is going to work, so I have nothing to do. It turns out two-face is a popular theme for friends.

I'm probably going to straighten up my room and outpost everyone again until around seven/seven thirty. But, I have the urge to go to the aquarium. A new attraction opened up, and you get to pet the stingrays. But please, no flash photography.

So, getting ready for Comic-Con down in San Diego. I'll be there Wednesday through Sunday (and without Internet the entire time). It's gonna be huge.

Been reading more comics and graphic novels again, and thankful for the library being air conditioned.

On a side note, looks like the Westboro Baptist Church will be out there to picket. They're obviously just doing it for the publicity.

Apparently. Why would a church boycott Comic-Con? They don't do anything wrong. It's not like an anti-race group is setting up, or something BAD. It's Comic-Con. People go there to have fun. Fun with/about ficton.

But have a good time.
It sounds like fun.

Their argument is pretty much idolatry, insinuating that we've become so enamored with superheroes and such that we're practically worshiping them. Like I said, it's bunk. They're jsut doing it because they know it's one of the most media-filled events in the United States.

They've played the idolatry/blasphemy card several times before when there really wasn't a great reason to picket otherwise.

Either way, they're probably also out to bask in the Southern California weather. I actually wish I was down in San Diego right now (it's in the freaking 70s, and it's just getting hotter where I am). I hope it's cold next week. We were reading it might be in the mid-60s. That would GREAT.

I had a chance to see Iron Maiden with some buds, didn't go though. Then I saw all their updates on FB and I wanted to cry.

Why I didn't I have no idea.
