Any of you guys still play? I can never find anyone that even knows what it is, let alone plays it still. Plus, the Bagged & Boarded near me got closed....I feel like nerds are being replaced by video-game geeks.

I play but I don't keep up with the new sets... haven't since the Mirroden block really. You don't have other gaming stores around?

It's true there are not many nerds left they all went over to the gay side. Not that i dont play video games, but D&D is always more fun.

I started playing when tenth edition came out, although I am familar with the older sets. I own a shit load of older cards. But I sort-of keep up with the newer sets. They've been adding alot of really cool effects. It almost makes the older decks obsolete. I say almost because cards such as Akroma and Darksteel Colossus have yet to be surpassed. They are Gods.

And I agree, Yasu. D&D is so much more involving and makes you think in every which way possible.

My husband plays it to keep himself sane. Along with that he also is making my elven dream deck. He told me it already has 4 Nissa Rivanes in it. I'm so lucky to have a guy like him. Along with that he has gotten a good control deck with 4 Jace Bellerans from the new series.

I made a deck of mine that I still have just to destroy any kind of elf deck. I originally made it because my one friend used a dick elf deck that was unbeatable. So, in rebuttal, I found every badass goblin possible and destroyed said deck with a black/red goblin deck. Very explosive results.

Now, I like to play a red/green kick-your-ass/down-your-throat deck that is full of brute stength and strategy, which is surpisingly harder than you think. Gruul managed ot nicely, but I've built a better deck for my uses. My other deck I've been testing on my sisters is a blue/green landfall deck (whenver you play a land, your creatures get amazing boosts), and I have multiple cards that allow me to play up to three lands a turn. Needless to say, I win.

But I feel like my sisters arent a challenge at all. Probably because theyre not. They use blue/white flying decks, and it doesnt help them at all. They have no strategy. I've leiterally swapped decks with them and beat them with their own deck.

No fun. I need nerdier friends.

My favorite deck is still my Onslaught Black/White cleric deck. Made entirely from commons and one rare, and it kicked everyone's ass that I played.

Hahaha. Clerics are suck jerks. Considering yours if black/white, I can only imagine your strategy. Haha. Do you still play?

And I just realized I never answered your other question. I don't think there are any other gaming stores around. I'm sure if I looked it up, there might be a couple in Philly, but I can't drive yet. It's pretty depressing.

My strategy was the Vile Deacon (when attacking, power and toughness is +X/+X where X is number of Clerics in play). Whiterose has an all white Cleric healing deck that I managed to get down to five life once... closest anyone has ever got to beating that damn thing as far as I know.

Haha. I would love to play those decks against my goblins. I made them for destroying elves, but they're an amazing blow-everything-up deck. You should add green to your deck if you ever start playing again. Not alot, just a couple green mana, and then put in some sorcery cards that give your clerics Trample. If you do it correctly, it'd turn out amazing.

I did that, but it made the deck too bulky in terms of use. The main thing that fucks that deck up is a mana hose... happened the last time I used it. But yeah, Deacon with trample is fucking scary.

Haha. Yeah, every deck has a problem, you just need to use it to your advantage. I've been trying to make a perfect deck forever just because im a perfectionist like that. I want to join a tournament so bad, but I dont know where. Lol. I'd probably lose, anyway, but It'd be fun as hell.

I still love to play, but I refuse to play anyone who has cards that are past Shards of Alara. The cards just seem ridiculously broken and not in a good way. It seems pointless now, not to mention it has once more become who can afford the rarest cards and less about skill and strategy.

As Elara pointed out, I do have a white cleric deck, which is my pride and joy. And Elara, it actually has been beaten a few times, but I have so much fun with it. Especially when you team me up with another player who has a cleric base deck then it gets crazy .

I have no money whatsoever. I would love to buy some of those cards, but I can't. So I am one of the ones who uses strategy. I most of my cards are commons, but I try to have a rare in every deck to boost things, but only if it fits the strategy. Otherwise, commons and maybe a few uncommons, and I'm set.

That's one of the reasons I'd lose at a tournament. I don't have the money those guys do, so they can go and custom build a deck by going online. I get booster packs and core decks.

For some odd reason even though it was a broken series. I loved Kamigawa. I loved it soooo much. I used to pwn everyone with my Kamigawa decks when they were out. >.>

But Rosey it's gotten a bit more than that now. If you check out Rise of the Aldrazi(sp?) it sort of balances out the previous set.

Damn, someone took it down and it wasn't me!

But yeah, the bulk of my cards actually came as cast off commons and a few uncommons from the guys that used to be in the gaming club. They would buy a box of boosters and do draft picks and would usually toss me the leftovers since I didn't really have any cards. I've been meaning to buy a preconstructed deck of the newer set to breathe new life into it but I am so far behind that I have reservations of doing so.

I would say it would be worth it, but you're right. The strategy has changed so much, with new abilities and cards. With you having an older deck, you should either just buy a new one (which you won't want to do), or look for specific cards that help your deck. No longer will you find cards lying about to help your strategy. You really have to look.

Plus, clerics have been out of use for quite a while. Sure, there are some, but it all switched over to newer stuff. Elementals, Elves (redone and more badass. EX: Elvish Promenade and Immaculate Magistrate), Boggarts, Treefolk, etc. Nothing is really the same anymore.

You need much more defense than you did before. For example, a two card combo I use all the time in my green/red deck is Battering Wurm and Mordant Dragon and finish the game, regardless of how much life you have left.

Excuse the excessive links in this post. Lol.
One of these days, I'm going to post my decks on here to show you

I actually said I was considering buying a precon deck.

Interesting cards... why do the elves have horns? And that last one just showed the back of the card.

Mordant Dragon

Hm. No matter what link I used above, it wouldn't work. But it works in this post.
Oh well.

And yes, you did say that. Sorry. Lol

And don't even get me started about the horns! They all have horns and hooves, like they are supposed to be fawns or something. It made me really mad.

Example.

Nice abilities.

You know, I am really starting to hate Wizards of the Coast. Must they ruin all that I love?
