Here's the story:

BEST JOB WALK-OFF EVER?

A JetBlue flight attendant fed up with a rude passenger took to the airplane's PA system to cuss out the woman, then grabbed two beers, activated, and slid down the emergency inflatable slide, and went home Monday. As the plane was landing, the passenger sprung up to get his baggage from the overhead bin; flight attendant Steven Slater told him to sit down, and the man refused.

The baggage fell on Slater's head, but instead of apologizing, the passenger cussed at him. So Slater grabbed the microphone and said, "To the passenger who called me a mother-- , -- you I've been in the business 28 years. I've had it. That's it." Slater slid away and drove home, where he was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing. Several Facebook pages have popped up supporting Slater and his I-can't-take-it-anymore act, the kind most Americans have only dreamed of." (Above Story Credit: LBN Elert)

Producer Bruce Edwin of The Hollywood Sentinel, who is also a talent manager and studies how fame is created states, "This story is quite amazing, in that it teaches us in Hollywood what makes a person famous and what makes a story that sells. It is not so much that people are bored with their lives - sure, that's a factor to a degree for many - but it is more than that. It is that many are living lives under rules and regulations they do not understand the need for, and they feel oppressed. Their secret wish is to do that which this man did."

The producer adds, "There is a classic, great film called 'Network,' directed by the masterful Sidney Lumet, in which the main character leans out of his window and screams, 'I'm mad as hell! And I'm not gonna' take it anymore!' Other films like the rebellious 'Pump Up the Volume' created the same great, renegade energy, in which one person alone does a very public act of defiance against perceived personal injustices." Bruce Edwin continues, "Audiences, particularly Americans, love this type of story, because it relates to ones inner frustration breaking free by shouting out against something wrong. Steven Slater's wild actions reflect the audience - in this case the public's desire for seeing a perceived underdog that they identify with - lash out and reclaim a little power."

Asked as to whether or not Mr. Slater should serve time in prison, incur fines, or be a hero with his own T.V. show, Bruce Edwin responds, "It seems clear that there were expenses associated with Mr. Slater's actions that cost the airline that he should be responsible for. One should also think, what of the parents on this flight who did not want their small children exposed to this kind of language from an airline employee? And what of any delays suffered by passengers as a result of this individual's failure to be in control of his rational thinking and actions? The ridiculousness of his actions seems so comical, that one can easily forget some real suffering that has been caused."

The talent manager goes on, "Losses should be paid, and some counseling in order, but no, prison I feel is not necessary." As for whether or not he will get his own show, the producer adds, most likely. If not his own, then at least some big appearances. I have no doubt that he can't leverage this insane move in to some work in the entertainment industry that easily pays off any losses he cost the airline or others. It's a truly American story, and heaven knows, Hollywood often rewards insanity! But of course, we wouldn't have it any other way."

I consider this guy to be freaking awesome. Seriously, if I quit a job, I want to do it this way.

As for prosecution, yeah, what he did was illegal, but I think any talk of jail time is complete nonsense. Seriously, the worst that coul possibly have happenned is some delays in getting off the plane, and some people being mildly offended by his language. Do we really put people in jail for that? Just fine him and be done with it.

Even the airline said there was no danger at any time. Honestly, as someone that has to deal with assholes on a daily basis I admire that guy for having the balls to do that.

Personally you have to think of it this way.

The news on FOX and CNN said that it was a flight for deploying soldiers. It was a soldier that called in a mother fucker and a soldier that caused this epic moment in history XD.

Anyway soldiers are known for being either really awesome or complete jackasses no inbetweens. This guy did an AWESOME thing. =P

That's interesting. Most of the articles and pieces about this on the news say the passenger was female, and I'd heard no mention she was a soldier.

In fact, the Port Authority hasn't even found the passenger who supposedly caused this fray yet.

Since most of the passengers on the plane who have reported their sides of the story to the media claim they saw him suddenly get upset before hitting the intercom, but didn't see how it all happened, there's suspicion he just made it all up.

I'd really like to believe it's true. So many of us have had to deal with rude, idiot customers/patrons/patients/passengers/etc, and we all want to see one of them get what's coming.

I remember heading to and from R and R. The flight attendants were really rude to us or had no clue how to do their job at first. When the plane started up it was great.

One of our flight attendants was so sarcastic and made all of laugh with his jokes. He said things like "You will want to keep your head phones. They also work on Delta flights." or "Please pick up all garbage around you, you will also want to gather all of you items. If you do happen to leave something on the plane you will find these items on..... Ebay."
